The open-plan kitchen and living space boasts a generously sized wooden table, impeccably appointed with amenities such as a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, expansive hob and oven, kettle, toaster, dual coffee machines, an assortment of pans, and more. The living area also boasts a satellite TV, DVD player, and home cinema setup. The recent extension to the property introduces a reception area with a desk, ideal for guests needing to attend to work matters.

Location
About the surrounding area of Casa CouraCasa Coura offers the best of both worlds, with a peaceful and rural position, yet ideally located for getting out and exploring the beautiful surrounding area. Many new towns are within easy driving distance, with Paredes de Coura being approximately 8 km from the villa.
This small town has several shops and supermarkets in which to pick up your holiday essentials and restaurants serving delicious local fare. In August there's a big music festival in the town's central park, the Taboão River Beach and it's a great place to enjoy a picnic or a dip in the river.
The Regional Museum of Paredes de Coura provides an insight into the area's cultural heritage, mainly through the arts and archaeological finds. There are fascinating displays, including those of textiles, agricultural equipment and decorative objects.
The Corno do Bico Protected Landscape is just a short drive from the centre of town and is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Walk through woods and rivers to try and spot some of the wildlife often placed here, such as otters and boars. The beautiful mountainside landscape also provides panoramic views over the town and nearby area.
Approximately 25 km from the villa is the town of Vila Nova de Cerveira. Situated on the banks of the River Minho, it's a place full of history, art and beautiful buildings. One must-see attraction is the Castelo de Vila Nova de Cerveira, a medieval castle that now incorporates an art museum and features artworks both inside and out. Take in unobstructed views of the town and river as you walk along the castle walls.

ABOUT MINHO
The areas of Minho extend from the Spanish border in the north, south to Porto and east to the mountains of Vila Real. It is a green and fertile area of rolling hills encompassing the great rivers Minho, Lima and Douro, and the National Park of Peneda Geres. The countryside of the region is typified by long, sandy beaches bordered by pine woods, picturesque villages nestling among vine-covered hills, and historic towns such as Amarante, Guimaraes, Barcelos, Ponte de Lima, and Viana do Castelo.

Best Suited For: All AgesCasa Coura has been renovated to make it ideal for children, with the outside space having a range of activities that cater to all interests to keep everyone entertained.
There's a swimming pool, sports area and playground to choose from and plenty of space just to run around and burn off some energy. There's plenty to do in the town of Vila Nova de Cerveira, which is around a 30-minute drive from the villa.
Castelinho Park is excellent for children, as it has mini golf, a water park, playground and seating areas for family picnics. You can also hire bikes and kayaks to explore the stretch of the River Minho that runs next to the park.

Relaxing, cosy, stress-free holiday retreat
In this unprecedented time, we decided to practise what we preach and spend our annual family holiday (2+2) in these self-catering villas. Even though we know the villas and region well, we were pleasantly surprised. There was so much of the Minho region to (re)discover, and as always, the pictures don't do the properties justice. Casa Coura is located in a perfect setting, a home away from home with everything you need for a relaxing, cosy, stress-free holiday retreat. Waking up to the picturesque views was a bonus. Our walks and short drive outings became part of our daily routine. It's unbelievable how much there is to see and do in the unspoilt Minho region. And the Turkish steam room was a haven after our competitive football matches. Initially, we thought a 9-night stay would be pushing it with 2 (pre)teens, but we all enjoyed the peacefulness, serenity and tranquillity after a long, overwhelming year. Happy New Year!
