Casa Blandy is a stunning, new three-bedroom villa, perched above the sunny resort of Ponta do Sol on the southwest coast of Madeira overlooking spectacular sea views.
A great deal of time and attention has been poured into making this a handsome home, and those with a taste for modernity will like the neutral tones and bold touches including marbled walls and striking artwork.
On the ground floor you’ll find a large lounge with sleek furnishings, stylish décor and a satellite TV. Whitewashed walls and swathes of natural light create a tranquil ambience and it won’t be long before you’re relaxing on the lounge sofa and staring through the sliding glass doors, mesmerised by the ocean views. Alternatively, step out onto the balcony and feel the sun and sea breeze on your face.
From the lounge, move into the separate dining area which features some elegant touches including ambient lighting, potted plants and a stylish mirror on the wall. There’s a dining table for meal times but the charming balcony is inviting and there’s ample room for everyone outside.
The adjoining kitchen is cool, sleek and kitted out with modern appliances including dishwasher, coffee machine and huge fridge. It opens onto a large, marble-topped breakfast bar and terrace. On this floor you’ll also find a bedroom featuring a double bed with access to the balcony.
Upstairs, the remaining bedrooms are large and cool with double beds, and their own pristine, en-suite bathroom. Both bathrooms feature showers and one even has a whirlpool bathtub in which you can soak. There’s also a handy laundry room on this floor for washing and drying clothes.
While there is much to enjoy inside, the roof terrace is the real draw card and the perfect spot for basking in the sun. Simply relax on a sun lounger with a cool drink in hand and lap up the lovely sea views. The more active can make use of the spin bike or swim laps in the pool. And after burning off all that energy, you’ll want to put some fresh fish on the grill and dine al fresco at the covered terrace table.

Waterfront
Casa Blandy is located in the quiet neighbourhood of Ponta do Sol, a 600 year-old village with a stunning coastline, cobbled streets and historic architecture. Meaning ‘sun point’ Ponta do Sol is regarded as the sunniest part of the island. The surrounding landscape features lush banana plantations while the town has plenty of attractive restaurants, bars and shops, and a stunning coastline with dramatic sea cliffs. It’s less than a 10-minute drive from the villa to the pretty beach of Ponta do Sol. Although the beach is covered in pebbles rather than sand, it’s a peaceful place for a swim and has calm waters. Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely lunch or drink at one of the many restaurants or bars.
While in town, head to the John do Passos Cultural Centre. The centre celebrates the great 20th century American writer whose grandparents lived here. Spend time browsing through his books, learning about his life and looking at some artifacts in the Passos exhibition.
From Ponta do Sol it’s a leisurely 15-minute walk up the hillside to Zino’s Palace. This charming pink building was once the summer residence of the noble Zino family and remains an example of Madeira’s historic architecture. Make sure stop at the terrace, order a drink and soak up the romantic views.
For even more spectacular vistas head to Paul da Serra, Madeira’s largest and highest plateau. It’s a 30-minute drive from the villa and at 1,500 metres offers sweeping views of the surrounding valley and mountains. It’s a great place for a picnic or to walk and immerse yourself in nature.
Just 10-minutes drive from Ponta do Sol you’ll find more natural beauty at Cascata dos Anjos. Here, a waterfall cascades off a cliff and rains onto the coastal road below. You can drive through the waterfall (make sure your windows are up!) or park on the side of the road and cool off by walking through it.
Further attractions and historical sights can be found in Madeira’s capital, Funchal, a 30-minute drive from the villa.

Calheta, meaning ‘Small Cove’, is where many tourists flock to in order to indulge in beautiful man-made beaches and striking scenery.
This part of Madeira is formed of several municipalities, each with something unique and special to offer. Calheta Village is an ideal place to start especially if you enjoy a stiff drink! An old sugar cane factory still produces one of the world’s most respected white rums – Aguardente…perhaps you want to leave this part of your holiday till late in the evening!

For lovers of seafood, you should look no further than Paul do Mar. This is a village where most of the fisherman work out of, so you know you’ll be able to find the catch of the day here.

ABOUT MADEIRA
The island of Madeira can be found south west of mainland Portugal, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the island’s location, its is considered to have a Mediterranean climate that serves locals and visitors all year round – making it an ideal escape from reality at any point in the year.
What we love Madeira for is its seemingly ongoing festivals! Madeirans have found an excuse to celebrate most things; including film, their natural surroundings and key patron saints. This means that planning a visit during these days and even weeks of commemoration is well worth it (scroll down to see some key dates).
Madeira is divided into several municipals, each with a special offering to those who visit this island. Our favourite two communities are Funchal and Calheta and these are where you will find most of our beautiful villas.
Madeira’s landscape extends much more than a striking coastline. Make sure you pack some hiking boots and venture inland during your stay. With mountainous trails along Vereda do Arieiro, or more countryside appropriate paths like Levada do Risco and waterfall chasing treks like Levada do Caldeirao Verde – this archipelago has everything a keen outdoors person requires.
For those who enjoy either playing or watching sports, you’ll be happy to know Madeira offers so much selection. Madeira is also home to three notable football clubs, so if you’re visiting during the football season and want to see a good quality of football, you have every chance to. Porto Santo Golfe is the island’s renowned golf course. With an 18-hole course (Par 72) overlooking a Galapagos-like backdrop, golf enthusiasts will certainly want a ‘slice’ of the action! Surfers can access some great beaches like Jardim do Mar, Ponta Pequena, Paul do Mar, and Fajã da Ovelha in order to find some swell. Or, if you’re simply looking to recline on a sun lounger and soak up some rays, whilst listening to crystal clear waves break as they hit the shores, you will find plenty of man-made beaches & Lidos created for your leisure!
With a superb climate, close proximity to the coastline, wonderful cuisine, charming locals and astonishing scenery – this is a fabulous holiday choice for families & friends.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Madeira, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
