Boho chic, Grandola Saffi offers a lavish home away from home, just a short walk from the beach. One of our favourite villas in Carvalhal, this stunning property reflects its beautiful surroundings with warm natural materials throughout. From the moment you walk, there is an air of calm and a complete sense of tranquillity. Whether you are travelling with friends or family, this beautiful villa and vibrant area are sure to be the holiday of a lifetime.
Carvalhal itself is known for its glitz and glamour, with heaps of bustling restaurants, designer shops and polished seafront restaurants. With so much within walking distance, there is plenty to fill up a whole week or two, not to mention the golden sandy beaches that often draw visitors to this area.
As you open the front door, the central galleried hallway oozes atmosphere, with a straw ceiling guiding you into the main open-plan entertaining spaces. Stylish and sophisticated, you can cook delicious meals in the modern fitted kitchen, talking the evenings away around the spacious dining table and fully relaxing on the elegant sofas. Wooden floors and furniture, straw features, rattan lampshades, and bamboo furnishings all create a warm and welcoming ambience that reflects the golden sand and sunshine-filled skies outside.
Grandola Saffi boasts three serene bedrooms, offering ample space for a group of six guests. Each room has ease and elegance to it, with plenty of room to enjoy your own space.
Everything about the villa draws a connection to the outdoors, from the use of materials to the calming garden and rice field views. Luscious, mature trees border the blooming garden, with the trees parting to gift views across the rice fields. Days spent by the sublime private swimming pool, reading books on the loungers, and enjoying a cocktail on the shady terrace, are ones that you will be daydreaming of all year round. Our favourite moments at Grandola Saffi must be the star-lit evenings on the terrace, enjoying the magic of the moment with your loved ones.

Outstanding Landscapes
Bordered by luscious, mature trees, with views stretching across the surrounding rice fields, Grandola Saffi offers a private retreat amongst the glitz and glamour of Carvahal village. A short walk from the beaches, restaurants, bars and shops, everything you could need is on your doorstep, not to mention the other sights, attractions, towns and cities that add vibrancy to this stunning coastline.
Carvalhal is overflowing with bustling restaurants, designer shops and polished seafront restaurants. There are two gorgeous beaches, Praia do Carvalhal and Praia do Pego, both of which you can walk to from the villa’s front door. In fact, Carvalhal is one of the seven villages that make up Herdade da Comporta.
For budding surfers, Comporta’s magnificent surfing beaches boast two surf schools which offer courses for all ages and levels. For a little more relaxation, you can enjoy some special treatments and indulgences at the wonderful Spa Oryza. For golf lovers, Comporta is the place for you, the fantastic Comporta Dunes course was designed by David McLay Kidd within a stunning terrain of pine forest and sand dunes close to Pego beach. Troia championship golf course is also nearby, designed by the famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones.
A short drive north of the villa is the charming village of Comporta. Situated at the base of the Troia peninsula and at the side of the Sado estuary, it boasts a history going back to the Roman Empire. Comporta is still a hive of agricultural production, with rice fields and vineyards producing some delicious white, red and rose wines. Comporta offers an endless list of activities, including horse riding, fishing, hunting, sailing, bird watching and cycling.
For a day trip, Lisbon is the obvious choice, located a 75-minute drive away. A vibrant, cosmopolitan city, there is so much to enjoy, from the historical sights and colourful trams to the wine bars and foodie haven of the Time Out Market.

The Region
Comporta is surrounded by rice paddies, the ocean, sand dunes and pine forests. It's a unique place where you can connect with nature and live in the moment. Comporta has a rhythm and an ambience that are all it's own. This wild and unspoilt part of Portugal attracts an in-the-know international crowd, including renowned artists, designers, and A-listers.
Comporta has a remarkable diversity of natural systems with long stretches of beach, windswept dunes, scenic pine forests, salt marshes and rice paddies which become a vibrant green in June. The region is also characterized by rice fields and its main attraction, the Comporta beach: 20 kilometres of uninterrupted white sand, a beach lover’s paradise.
As with the rest of Portugal, you can expect sun-blessed weather year-round in Comporta. The best months of the year to visit Comporta for long beach stays are from June to September, while the spring and autumn months are still suitable for picnics or day trips.
ABOUT THE LISBON COAST
The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.
The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas on Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
