Casa Ervideira is located inside a family Estate, surrounded by an astonishing pine and cork oak forest in a small town called Ervideira. The tranquillity of nature and the splendour of mesmerising sunsets make this charming villa feel like a private retreat, offering all the peace and quiet you could need. Yet, situated just twenty-five minutes from the Comporta coastline and with Lisbon comfortably one hour away, Casa Ervideira gives you the best of both, offering endless activities and places to see during your stay.
With so much to see and do in this area, we are sure you will be planning a trip back again before long! For long days on the beach, the sandy Comporta coastline is fantastic, from the beautiful surfing beaches to the stylish restaurant-lined bays. Carvalhal Beach is a popular choice, a 30-minute drive from the villa, and we can never resist a sunset at Praia da Aberta Nova. Most of the beaches offer sun loungers and day beds, with plenty of spots to grab refreshments throughout the day. Comporta’s surfing beaches boast two surf schools which offer courses for all ages and levels.
For golf lovers, Comporta is the place for you; the fantastic Comporta Dunes course was designed by David McLay Kidd within a stunning terrain of pine forest and sand dunes close to Pego beach. Troia championship golf course is also nearby, designed by the famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones.
This area has long been known for its vineyards and wine production, producing some delicious white, red and rose wines. This rich history dates to the Roman Empire, and there is evidence of that history woven throughout agriculture and architecture. With this in mind, we would highly recommend a trip to a winery during your stay or a visit to the many wine bars and shops in Lisbon. You may even spot the Ervideira wines as you shop around.
An hour’s drive from the villa, you will reach the vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Lisbon. Food, music and wine weave their way into every nook and cranny of this lively city, and a day trip or overnight stay is definitely recommended.

The Region
Comporta is surrounded by rice paddies, the ocean, sand dunes and pine forests. It's a unique place where you can connect with nature and live in the moment. Comporta has a rhythm and an ambience that are all it's own. This wild and unspoilt part of Portugal attracts an in-the-know international crowd, including renowned artists, designers, and A-listers.
Comporta has a remarkable diversity of natural systems with long stretches of beach, windswept dunes, scenic pine forests, salt marshes and rice paddies which become a vibrant green in June. The region is also characterized by rice fields and its main attraction, the Comporta beach: 20 kilometres of uninterrupted white sand, a beach lover’s paradise.
As with the rest of Portugal, you can expect sun-blessed weather year-round in Comporta. The best months of the year to visit Comporta for long beach stays are from June to September, while the spring and autumn months are still suitable for picnics or day trips.
ABOUT THE LISBON COAST
The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.
The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas on Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
