Gorgeous Villa Azenhas is a superb modern villa located on a dramatic cliffside overlooking the ocean below. With peace and quiet in abundance, this villa is a popular choice amongst groups of friends and families alike.
Arriving at the villa, you immediately notice the blend of contemporary and classic architecture at Villa Azenhas. With a traditional clay brick facade leading onto a modern white-washed building style, Villa Azenhas blends the two aspects tastefully and luxuriously. To the front, the villa has private parking on a secure driveway which you can use throughout your stay.
On entering Villa Azenhas, you’ll notice how bright and open the space is, utilising crisp whites against traditional wood furniture while blue-accented decor gives Villa Azenhas a comfortable Mediterranean feel. A cosy living room makes the centre of the house with ample seating across sofas, armchairs and tables for reading and playing games. Large patio doors open up from the living room, connecting it directly to the terrace and lounge outside.
Around the corner of the living room, a combination kitchen and dining space open up to you. Bathed in whites and browns, your fully-equipped kitchen has everything you need to make delicious home-cooked meals, while the dining area provides a comfortable place to enjoy them with family and friends.
Villa Azenhas boasts four bright, spacious bedrooms spread across two levels of the home. Three bedrooms are located on the ground floor, offering plenty of sleeping space for guests. Your first bedroom can sleep up to three people, with stylish bunk beds that kids love and an additional drawer bed that can be pulled out when needed. The second bedroom has two twin beds which can be pushed together to form a double if preferred. Bedrooms one and two share a bathroom with a walk-in shower.
Bedroom three is a spacious suite with a double bed, a TV, amazing sea views, a private en-suite bathroom and direct access to the swimming pool. Upstairs, the master suite features a double bathroom with a TV and stunning sea views from the window and a private en-suite bathroom.
To the rear of the property, luxury is the name of the game, with a bright, airy terrace overlooking the sea and cliffs complete with a large horseshoe sofa centred around a fire pit and a private swimming pool. A second dining table is also located on the terrace, perfect for al fresco dining.
What Oliver loves...
Villa Azenhas is super luxurious and we had a great time during our stay
The huge outdoor terrace is amazing for spending time with friends in the fresh air
Villa Azenhas’s location is great as the nearby area is nice and quiet but the beach and shops are just a short walk away
Gorgeous sea views from all around the villa, the pool and garden terrace
What you should know
The town where Villa Azenhas is relatively quiet so you’ll need to head out for nightlife and activities which may not suit groups looking for a livelier holiday
While the area around the villa itself is relatively flat, the beach is located down a cliff and may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues
If you want to visit nearby towns and explore the wide region, we recommend renting a car for the duration of your stay
The terrace has a beautiful, smooth polished finish. However, with the natural humidity in the evenings and early mornings, it may feel a little slippery underfoot, so we kindly suggest taking care when spending time outside.

Villa Azenhas sits in a quiet residential spot with a dramatic cliffside and stunning ocean views to its back. Located on a quiet corner of Azenhas do Mar, a quiet seaside town, you’re just a short walk from a number of local amenities.
While you’ll likely need a car to get around if you want to explore beyond Azenhas do Mar, you can get around most of the town itself on foot with ease. For dining in, your nearest store is just a 10-minute walk away from the villa where you can buy your essentials.
If you like to get out and about when on holiday, trying local bars and restaurants, you’ll likely benefit from renting a car to visit nearby towns like Praia das Macas and Fontenales, both about a 30-minute walk or five-5minute drive away, which have slightly more going on.
Your nearest beach, Praia das Azenhas do Mar, is just five minutes away on foot; however, the beach is located at the bottom of the cliffs and requires a short descent down steps and ramps to access. Your next closest beach is in Praia das Macas and is slightly easier to access if you have people with mobility issues in your group.
To get to Villa Azenhas, your nearest airport is in Lisbon, which is around a 45-minute drive away and is easily accessible in a car.

The Region
Thinking about packing your bags and heading off to Portugal? Why not give Colares a go? A real gem of a place, it’s one of the best spots on the Lisbon Coast for a holiday. Colares is absolutely delightful and has long been a very popular summer resort.
In the environs of Colares are the beaches of Praia das Maças, Praia Grande and Adraga, and the typical village of Azenhas do Mar, with its whitewashed houses inset in the side of a cliff.
Colares is also a demarcated wine-growing region, producing the very popular and increasingly rare Colares wine, which can be tasted at the Adega Regional, in a very beautiful building in the town centre.
ABOUT THE LISBON COAST
The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.
The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas on Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
