The wondrous Casa Galega is located on a hugely generous plot on the outskirts of Cascais, the Lisbon Coast’s ever popular and fashionable resort. How wonderful to wake to the cheerful sound of birdsong and to be able to roam in beautiful gardens! This lavish and enchanting villa boasts four outstanding, luxurious bedroom suites. In total these suites sleep 8 guests in superb comfort though you can also use the sofabed in one suite and extra beds in two others, sleeping up to 11 guests in total. The main living space is glitzy, superbly comfortable and certainly boasts the wow factor with its double height aspect and huge chandelier.

Cascais is upmarket, classy and enjoys a fascinating history. Once a charming Portuguese fishing town, Cascais was the summer retreat of the Portuguese nobility. Today it is an elegant fusion of its heritage and everything you would hope for from a modern tourist town. Within the narrow, cobbled streets of the historic centre, you will find interesting museums, an imposing fort, lavish houses and charming, unique shops and restaurants. You can enjoy delicious waterside cocktails and fresh fish at the gourmet restaurants. A short train ride can take you into the centre of Lisbon or to one of the delightful beaches along the coast. Around the corner you will find the atmospheric and beautiful Sintra.

The gardens are sprawling with lush lawns, colourful beds and acers, palms and fragrant pines surrounding the buildings. A sloping lawn and steps lead down to the gorgeous swimming pool where you can enjoy lazing on deluxe loungers enjoying the sunshine. There is a shaded area if the sun is too strong. Beside the pool, you will find a sensational alfresco dining area with a superb, professional outdoor kitchen. There are so many beautiful alfresco lounge areas in the gardens, you could almost choose a different spot every evening. Like the interior furniture, the outdoor sofas and chairs are superbly comfortable.

Casa Galega enjoys some flexible sleeping arrangements, dependant on the number of guests wanting to stay. The beautiful, refined Naranja suite enjoys cool, mellow tones, luxury linens on the superior kingsize bed and a huge headboard. Glass doors open to a beautiful fitted ensuite bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and a shower overhead. The very best fittings are used ensuring luxury and comfort. Apelsin is a bright and airy luxury suite with a superb kingsize bed, a glorious ensuite, beautiful wooden flooring and space for an extra bed on request. Arancione is a family suite with twin beds set next to each other forming a massive superking bed plus a separate bunk bed room and space for an extra bed. The brilliant red bunk beds are super cool, contrasting beautifully with the contemporary ‘leaf’ print wallpaper. This suite can sleep 4 if required and enjoys a private courtyard terrace. It also offers a gorgeous contemporary bathroom with a sunken marble bath with a shower overhead. As you may expect, the Orange suite enjoys hints of orange with velvet scatter cushions and a bright orange sofabed which can be used for 2 extra guests. It is another refined, beautiful room with considerable space and a delightful ensuite with a jacuzzi bath and state-of-the-art shower. The suite overlooks the pool with easy access for an early morning swim.

The open plan living and dining room is grand, ostentatious and very vibrant. It is brimming with huge artworks that adorn the double height walls, some of which are cleverly recessed. There is a huge array of sumptuous sofas and chairs, all wonderfully comfortable and enjoying garden views. Guests can tickle the ivories of the piano entertaining the group. Swanky contemporary wallpaper decorates the wall next to the lengthy dining table though you may decide to eat outside. This room is truly spectacular with a gorgeous mezzanine hallway above.

Casa Galega will no doubt leave you with wonderful holiday memories and indulge you with the sleep of kings in its heavenly, luxurious suites.

THE REGION

A coastal town just 20 miles west of Lisbon, Cascais was once a small fishing village, but its idyllic scenery attracted the attention of artists, writers and expelled European nobility in the 20th century. Today, it still attracts high society, but all society comes into force to enjoy the gorgeous beaches and adventure options like sailing and surfing.

Cascais also sits just west of Lisbon and right on the edge of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, meaning there are ample opportunities for exciting day trips. When you’re not off an excursion up the coast, you’ll find Cascais has plenty of its own allures. Take your pick of gorgeous sandy coves, wander around culture-packed art centres, book a surfing lesson or sit down to dine on some of the best food in the region.

ABOUT THE LISBON COAST

The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.

The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.

But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!

Children will feel like princes and princesses at the magical Pena Palace.  The palace looks as though it has just come from a fairytale book. The gardens are beautiful and a good place for a quick game of hide and seek!

Lisbon offers much family entertainment. Children enjoy the Oceanarium with its four huge tanks representing the different oceanic regions of the world and the fabulous zoo and its residents. • A perfect place for a perfect holiday

    on 04/08/2023

A perfect place for a perfect holiday. Carlos went above and beyond as a host. The house is well worth the money if you like high end luxury homes. We cannot recommend this property highly enough. With the daily cleaning, it felt like a private hotel just for us. Communication with the host Carlos was always very friendly and Carlos is extremely responsive at any time of the day. As for the cleaning, the ladies were almost invisible and did they magic to keep the place spotless without us even noticing. The house is decorated with a lot of love and beautiful details. We felt right at home. We will be back.

  • Exceptional

    on 10/06/2023

Exceptional in its convenient location to see Sintra, the coast and Lisbon. Amazing accommodation, Art Nouveau style, spacious and practical room, swimming pool (heated to 30 degrees). It was with regret that we had to continue our trip, this place is something out of time!

  • Amazing stay!

    on 25/10/2022

We could not have had a better first time in Portugal stay. 7 of us were there for the Iron Man race - only one athlete but we came to support her and what a perfect place to unwind and relax in a beautiful setting. All bedrooms were super comfortable with en-suite bathrooms. The decor was so tasteful - like a museum. The pool and outdoor spaces were better than the photos. I can’t say enough about this spectacular property. Carlos and his staff were attentive and very responsive!

  • Spectacular

    on 29/07/2021

Spectacular. Pretty much the only word you need to describe this property. From the gardens to the individual rooms, to the amenities, it’s like staying in a private resort. Can’t speak more highly of the place. The owner, Carlos, was the most attentive and accommodating host I’ve ever dealt with, fantastic in helping with any request we had (especially for children), I only wished every host was like Carlos. Top notch host, top notch home, top notch everything. My highest recommendation.
