Great Value
Ideal for Kids

Located just a few kilometres from the Gothic town of Santarém, Casa Filipa offers the perfect family escape. If you are looking to explore the beautiful city of Lisbon, history and architecture of Belem and the stunning coastline of Portugal, then this is the ideal base.

Casa Filipa boasts four cosy bedrooms, a warm and welcoming lounge, friendly dining room and well-equipped kitchen, so nine guests can come together and spend quality time away from the hustle and bustle of busy day to day lives. The villa is a traditional "casa ribatejana" in all its architecture and design, with simple interiors throughout.

From the moment you walk inside, the atmosphere is relaxed; you can settle in and make your self at home, curling up on the sofas and whipping up some family classics in the kitchen. The living spaces are spacious, flowing from one room to the other with ease, ideal for family holidays.

From the lounge, large patio doors open out to the sunny terrace, so whether guests are inside or out, it is easy to socialise and to keep an eye on any children playing by the pool. The modern dining table comfortably seats ten guests, so everyone can gather round and enjoy long evening meals together, maybe even trying out some classic Portuguese dishes!

Each of the bedrooms offers carefully chosen furnishings and storage for your belongings; the twin room is ideal for any children in the group!

Surrounded by luscious gardens, a glistening swimming pool, tennis court and lovely terraces, it is easy to spend all your time outdoors, soaking in the sunshine. With an outdoor dining area and a barbecue, al-fresco meals are a must, eating under the shade of a parasol and making the most of the warm climate!

Grab yourself a bottle of local vino verde and sip a chilled glass of wine by the pool, maybe dipping your feet in to cool off. Casa Filipa has something for the whole family, an ideal Portuguese retreat!

*** Please note that the house is old, and some parts of the property have not been reformed. There is also a cat on the property.

Casa Filipa is located just a few kilometres from the charming town of Santarém, known as the Gothic capital. With Lisbon just a 45-minute drive away and the popular towns of Fatima, Foz do Arelho and Peniche are only 30 minutes away.

The fascinating nearby Santarém offers visitors a great insight into a town once renowned as the strongest fortress in the kingdom! Its origins can be traced back to the Iron Age, and its cultural events and celebrations still attract large crowds today – including the ‘Feira de Ribatejo’, a 10-day agricultural fair abound with folk dancing, bullfights, bull-running and stalls of local produce!

Portugal itself is a small, fascinating country at the most Western point of mainland Europe. The capital, Lisbon, is known for its lively nightlife, with endless bars and clubs full of fun-loving locals and tourists alike, but also has plenty of fascinating history (check out Belém, jam-packed with monuments!) and undulating terrain, famously termed the ‘city of the seven hills’.

With a vast coastline that meets the mighty Atlantic Ocean, Portugal is a real paradise for the keen surfer, or indeed even those looking to try it for the first time, with plenty of surfing schools all along the calmer sections of the coast.

Of course, it is not only the world-famous waves but also the utterly pollution-free water, and the lack of deadly sharks found in warmer areas that put it so firmly on the map as the surfing Mecca of the world.

And even for those less keen on the idea of surfing, the beaches of Portugal are well worth a visit for their beautifully clear waters, and almost all have a bar at which you can enjoy a tipple. Other active pursuits include a sublime cycling trip through the undulating and picturesque scenery of Geres, or indeed white-water rafting on the river Douro!

And a scenic hike through the Natural Reserve of Peneda-Gerês, the Douro Valley and Serra da Estrela will allow you a real up close and personal experience with all kinds of wildlife. For those more into the gentle pace of golf, Portugal is a real haven, with 14 of the world’s top 100 best golf courses!

The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.

The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.

But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas on Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
