An enchanting and grandiose property located in Aroeira, Villa Machado offers a range of spellbinding views that seem to go on for miles. The outdoor areas of this property are nothing short of pure perfection, as seen by the expertly manicured lawn that surrounds the house. There is also a large decking area that is fitted with a considerable swimming pool and a collection of sun loungers. As a result, guests can choose between soaking up some glorious Portuguese sunshine or revelling in the cool water of the pool. This property also contains an expansive outdoor terrace that is equipped with a spectacular dining area. This allows guests to enjoy a range of delicious meals as they gaze out at the tremendous sights that surround them.
 
As you enter the villa, you will see how this property pulls upon an abundance of chic design choices, helping to build an off-beat and contemporary home. The open-plan living/dining area uses a range of minimalist furnishings to create a bright and airy space. The living area is made up of a selection of sunken sofas that give amazing views of the outdoor swimming pool. Thus, guests can spend time together as a family as they enjoy this incredible space. The dining area includes an expansive wooden bench table that can accommodate a large number of guests. As such, these furnishings help to create an attractive and communal space for guests to use as they indulge in a range of delectable dishes. Villa Machado is located in Aroeira, a region that is bustling with vibrancy and vitality. The Park and Palace of Monserrate is a deeply rich and stunning landmark and is based just under an hour away from the centre of Aroeira. The Palace of Monserrate dates back to the 19th century and blends a variety of Gothic, Indian, and Morrish motifs. This monument is even regarded as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, further emphasising its significance and outstanding beauty. Guests can go inside the palace and observe the Romantic fixtures and architectural features. This palace is also surrounded by an incredible garden that is teeming with exotic plants that are sourced from all over the world. The Park and Palace of Monserrate are great places to visit if you are looking to wind down and become more mindful of your surroundings during your trip.

First built in the 8th century AD, the Castle of the Moors was constructed to protect the Moorish population of Portugal from the Christian reconquest that was occurring during this time. Guests have the opportunity to explore the archaic walls of this monument and discover more about this often forgotten time in history. You can even gain access to the Royal Tower, which hosts an intuitive cistern that was used to collect essential rainwater. As you travel to the top of the castle, you will be taken aback by the striking panoramic views that surround this incredible building.
 
Aroeira is also home to a diverse and ever-transforming food scene, collating some of Europe’s finest restaurants into one place. Vila Faia is an authentic fine-dining restaurant located just under 5-minutes away from the centre of Aroeira. This establishment offers a range of traditional Portuguese dishes such as fried octopus as well as chargrilled fillet steak. Many previous guests praise the quaint outdoor seating area and the range of indulgent local wines on offer. Vila Faia is open from 11 am till 12 am every day except for Mondays.

THE REGION

Only 25 km from Lisbon, located in a protected pine woodland and close to the coastal town of Caparica, Aroeira is a unique estate comprising two golf courses. Aroeira offers golfers the perfect combination of a championship course set amidst exuberant natural surroundings.

The closest beach from Aroeira is Fonte de Telha. It is a pretty good spot for Surfers, and you will also find several choices of beach bars and restaurants to go to. The beach also offers free showers located right at the entrance near the main path in front of the parking spaces and the mini market.​

Aroeira is also a popular destination with families due to the range of exciting and engaging tourist attractions available within close proximity of the region. The Lisbon Oceanarium is the largest indoor aquarium in the entirety of Europe and welcomes around 8,000 animals and plants. Children have the chance to observe a range of marine wildlife in a more intimate way, such as sharks, rays, penguins, and sea otters. There is also a range of educational and alluring resources available, helping guests to learn more about these creatures and how they can better protect them. This landmark is also very accessible for both wheelchairs and pushchairs, making it an ideal place to visit even if you are travelling with very young children. The Lisbon Oceanarium can be found just 40-minutes away from the centre of Aroeira.
 
The Serra da Arrabida Natural Park is located among a collection of rolling emerald-green hills and a sapphire-blue sea. Guests can meander through this park in their own space and discover more about the varied types of vegetation that reside here. There is also a range of facilities and attractions within this landmark, such as the Oceanographic Museum, which displays a range of aquarium exhibitions and goes into more detail about the history of the region. If you continue to travel along the estuary, you will eventually come across a quaint beach that is home to a family of dolphins. In certain seasons, these creatures are often seen leaping out of the water. The Serra da Arrabida Natural Park is around half an hour away from the centre of the region.
 
If you are travelling as a family of football fanatics, you have to partake in a guided tour of the iconic Benfica Stadium. This institution is one of the largest football stadiums in Portugal and has hosted the Champions League final in both 2014 and 2020. Alongside an experienced tour guide, guests will observe every aspect of this stadium and learn more about its initial foundations. You can also visit the adjoining museum that offers a range of official documents and memorabilia for guests to enjoy. Benfica Stadium is located around 30-minutes away, and tickets for the tour can be purchased on the stadium’s official website.

End of stay cleaning included? Yes. However, guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival. Any extra cleaning, laundry, maintenance and/or garbage disposal required will be charged against the security deposit.
Internet access? Wi-Fi internet access included.
Minimum stay 4 nights during low season.
Changeover day Saturday during peak season.
Pets welcome? Not allowed.
Smoking Allowed? Smoking & Vaping are not permitted.
Pool heating charge? For those who require pool heating, there will be an additional charge of €40 per day to be paid with the balance. Please note that like all heated pools, pool heating and water temperature are reliant on weather and outside temperatures. Please note that it is unavailable from 1st November to 1st April.
Tax Tourist Tax is included in the rental price.
Insurance Guests are required to be in possession of a valid insurance policy, which covers them for cancellations, loss of personal belongings, personal liability and any accidental damage caused during their stay.
