It’s all very Moorish when you stay in Dar Al Vilamoura, in the historic resort of Vilamoura, on Portugal’s Algarve Atlantic Ocean coast. This charming two-storey detached villa has all the mod cons, including complimentary air conditioning, Wi-Fi throughout and electric charging points for your eco-friendly car.
The Dar has four spacious ensuite double bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate up to eight guests, ideal for a family holiday or a getaway with a group of friends. The house is set within an enclosed terrace with a private swimming pool. The exteriors of the villa are classic Mediterranean whitewashed walls, with hints of Majorelle blue paint and shutters. The interiors are cool and contemporary, furnished with modern pieces stylishly designed for comfort and decorated with a calm colour palette of soft, subtle shades.
The light and airy open-plan living space is on the upper floor of the house. The seating area has a pale blue L-shaped sofa, a console table, and a satellite television pre-loaded with Netflix. The all-white kitchen is fully equipped with all the latest sleek stainless steel appliances that you will need to cater for your holiday, including that must-have Dolce Gusto coffee maker. An adjacent six-seater dining set is perfect for informal gatherings. The upper floor has two garden and pool view balconies; one is furnished with soft seating, and the other has a dining set and a built-in barbeque for supper under the stars. The Dar has four well-appointed spacious bedrooms, two with double beds and two with twin beds, all with ensuite checked tiled shower rooms, flat-screen televisions, and air conditioning. A handy guest cloakroom on the ground floor completes the accommodation.
Spend the day sunbathing on the terrace, swimming in your own private swimming pool, relaxing on the adjacent loungers under the shady coconut matting parasol, and cooling off under the outdoor shower before taking tea at the soft seating set under the veranda. Join in the fun at the shared facilities, with a larger communal swimming pool, a tennis court, and a children’s playground.

The Region
Vilamoura has been a glamorous town ever since Roman time. Its rich history is still palpable as you walk its streets, coming upon Roman Baths and ancient murals all around town. These days, Vilamoura is still a high-class destination although it has certainly kept up with the times. Yachts dock at the large marina and travellers galavant the seaside strip hopping between bars, restaurants and the dazzling casino.
The local championship courses naturally attract a crowd of golf enthusiasts as well, and there is a large selection of other sports to enjoy in the area (including those best played out in the water). There is certainly no need to ever be bored in Vilamoura, but if it’s ultimate relaxation you’re after you won’t be disappointed. The town is alluringly close to Praia da Marina and Praia de Falesia, where the golden sand and hot Mediterranean sun is just about never-ending.
