Casa Lagos is ideally located just ten minutes northwest of the popular Algarve town of Lagos. Your villa is about an hour’s drive from Faro Airport and is well-served by its nearby road links should you wish to drive to the property as part of a wider holiday.
Your nearest beaches are the beautifully sandy Praia de Sao Roque and Praia de Porto Mos, both about a ten-minute drive away from the villa. Both beaches are relatively quiet, with limited amenities nearby. Another popular spot nearby is Praia da Luz which is popular with holidaymakers across Europe. For activities like shopping, dining and drinking, you’re best served by heading into Lagos, the main social centre for the area.
You’ll also find many amenities and services in Lagos, such as supermarkets to stock up on groceries and pharmacists should you need one.
Getting around from Casa Lagos is relatively simple, but the area can be a bit steep at times, so we do recommend renting a car for your stay if any members of your party are less mobile. Thanks to your proximity to Lagos, taxis are regularly available for getting to and from the beach and town; however, you’ll find a car significantly more convenient, especially if travelling as part of a larger group.
Please be aware that the location tab shown on the website is not based on the property's exact location; therefore, all location amenities are an approx of facilities, restaurants, and villages/towns you might find around the property. The property's exact location will be provided to you before arrival and might come along with some recommendations about the area and what to visit.
The Region
Lagos is a city on the western part of Portugal's south coast. The city is famous for its stunning beaches with beautiful rock formations and steep cliffs. The superb beauty of this charming city has no equal in the Algarve and is the reason why hordes of tourists travel thousands of kilometres to visit it every year.
Quiet sandy coves are sandwiched between dramatic cliffs. The sandy 2.5-mile stretch of Meia Praia caters to every water sport imaginable. And when you've had your fill, you can digest your day with some of the best nightlife in the Algarve region.
Drinking and good times continue to be a fundamental part of a visit to Lagos, and the fine array of restaurants, bars and local festas stand as a testament to this. The busy flea market fills the centre's narrow streets, which also boasts a Cultural Centre hosting various exhibitions and events throughout the year.
Lagos is equally suited as a family holiday destination; there are safe and sheltered beaches for your children, while thrill-seeking teenagers will adore the theme and water parks.
ABOUT THE ALGARVE
Though most people tend to see the Algarve as all about the beaches and a holiday on the Med, there’s far much more to it than that. There’s actually a load of fascinating culture and history, superb cuisine and enthralling adventures to be had, though we’d be the first to admit that the beaches are pretty special too, with lots of sand, spectacle and wonderfully clean water.
But while you’re enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Algarve, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we’ve put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
