Overview
Tucked at the heart of the incredible Medina area of Marrakesh, Riad Gypsum is a spectacular, traditional home for up to 15 guests, complete with a hammam, spa and rooftop terrace!
An unassuming entrance leads you through an intricate doorway and into a dazzling courtyard at the centre of the home itself, with an enormous pool and a seating area, with elaborated first-floor balconies surrounding it. There are several living spaces throughout the property, all wonderfully designed, with a range of comfortable sofas and relaxed areas, including alfresco living on the roof terrace! What’s more, in addition to all the usual living spaces of a conventional riad, there’s even a hammam and spa for your exclusive enjoyment. This traditional hammam is the perfect place for a little relaxation, allowing the heat to cleanse your skin and revitalise you, while we will be more than happy to arrange for a masseuse to visit the villa to make the most of this spa room. On-site staff are available for advice and information, to arrange tours, dinner parties, and much more, as well as housekeeping, while there’s also an on-site chef to prepare breakfast for you each day.
The riad has 4 independent double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and 1 suite with a unique access door, including 3 additional bedrooms (2 double and 1 triple) and 2 bathrooms. Apart from the canopy room, which always has a double bed, all other six rooms can be arranged as either double or twin beds according to guests' preference. Each suite is complete with not only sumptuous bedrooms but also cosy living rooms in some, and many feature intricately decorated ceilings, including mesmerising domes, ornate chandeliers and more. Rich red and browns and mostly wood furniture fill each space with warmth and beauty. And what’s more – each suite includes a characteristic Berber-style ensuite bathroom, so you can enjoy privacy and comfort throughout.
When it’s time to venture out and into the sunshine, head up to this incredible roof terrace for a wonderful spot for a little sunbathing and socialising. This is the most spacious and elegant of the living areas in the villa, with a chill-out area bursting with day beds, plush sofas, quaint coffee and dining tables and the all-important sun loungers! And of course, like all traditional riads, there is a perfectly private courtyard at the heart of the home which you can spend a little time in enjoying the relative coolness of the shade and of course in this wonderful pool!
What was once a stop-off for hippies and hedonists has emerged through centuries of global visitors to become an unmissable capital of African tourism, with an alluring mix of North African culture and modern delights. Get lost in the maze-like Medina, splash-out in the souks, indulge in the extraordinary cuisine in any of the hundreds of food stalls and be sure to chat with the friendly locals during your time in Marrakesh! It’s all part of the experience!

In 1985, Marrakesh’s Medina, the densely packed, walled medieval city at the heart of the modern city, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and once you’ve wandered its charming, vibrant streets, you’ll understand why. You will enjoy days of strolling around the fascinating, sensory-overloading city of Marrakesh, otherwise known as the ‘Red City’, brimming with mosques, palaces and gardens and each as magnificent as the last! Indeed, the saying goes that, back in the 1930s, Winston Churchill described Marrakesh as ‘the last paradise on Earth’! And we can see why!

And if ever you decide it’s a little too hot in the city, you need only venture a few miles out to the cooler heights of the mountains! Northern Africa’s highest peak, Mount Toubkal, is just a short distance away, enveloped in miles and miles of stunning mountains that are simply perfect for a hike. As well as the mountains, just a 20-minute drive away from the villa you will find some of the best golf courses in Marrakesh: the Amelkis Championship Golf course and the Marrakesh Royal Golf Club!

Just 25 minutes out of town is the incredible Eden Aquapark, with endless rides, slides and swimming pools, and a rather luxurious hotel attached to it, where you and the kids can have your every wish fulfilled! Fabulous location

An amazing place to stay
This is an amazing place to stay, an authentic Moroccan riad with all modern amenities. Veronica organised various activities and visits for us which were all excellent. The friendly staff were exceptional in their service with Khalid and Houcine always on hand to help. We stayed for four nights and enjoyed every moment.

Best family vacation ever
Riad Gypsum was the anchor of our best family vacation ever. The riad is gorgeous and immaculately decorated and spacious rnough for an extended family gathering. Veronica was super helpful in putting together a comprehensive itinerary before we arrived including multiple desert excursions, golf and dinners. And Khalid and his team were on point from the moment we arrived, ensuring optimal execution of our plan with on the fly adjustments along the way. Overall, a fantastic experience.

An amazing spot
This place is such an amazing spot. Just like described. Khalid was over and beyond and i can happily say i found a brother that i know in marrakech. We had an emergency situation and the way he handled and took care of us was phenomenal. One of the best experiences in morocco.

The best Riad in Marrakech
This has to be the best Riad in Marrakech. The riad itself is beautiful and so peaceful away from the hustle and bustle of the souks. The location is fantastic as you are walking distance from everything. The staff became part of our extended family. Khalid and Houcine looked after us and entertained the kids even teaching our small children how to make Moroccan tea. The breakfasts were incredible and we had two dinners in the Riad that beat any meal we had elsewhere. The rooms are so comfortable and set up perfectly for a big family like ours. Khalid and Veronica arranged so many things for our trip. A guide of the souk and a history tour with Adil. Even the kids enjoyed the history tour! The hammam experience was also fantastic. We didn’t want to leave and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you Veronica and her amazing team.

The most fuss free holidays we have had
Two weeks have passed since we stayed here, and we still talk about how this was one of the most relaxing, fuss free holidays we have had (especially for such a large group!). As a bonus we also got some great photos as the interior is so chic and spot on! We couldn’t find a single fault with our stay. They have thought of everything!!

• 5* facilities self-controlled heating/air conditioning and hair dryers, wardrobe, mirrors, lovely showers.
• Spotlessly clean
• Excellent location, steps away from the Medina

The staff made our holidays magical!
I’ve stayed at over 50 rental holidays and I can confidently say this is one of the top from around the world! The space is beautiful and the rooms are spacious, however what really made this a magical stay was the staff. Khalid went above and BEYOND to ensure our EVERY need was met, no matter what time of day. I wish we could have taken him back to the states with us! If you want the ROYAL treatment and a beautiful Riad to stay in, THIS is the place.
The neighborhood is VERY safe. It has great walkability to the souks, atm, parking where someone can pick you up, and is a short drive to the airport. 10/10 we will be back! -
Highly recommended!
We spent 3 nights at Riad Alkemia with a group of friends and lots of children 10-14. The riad is beautiful and extremely comfortable. We took the whole place to ourselves and everyone had a great time. The location is very convenient as you can easily walk to all the main spots in the Medina in 15 minutes. The riad is tucked away in a side ally and this makes it really peaceful. The highlight is the staff: Khalid was very professional and helpful, the food is amazing (Bushra is the chef and she is awesome) so it's highly recommended to have dinner in the riad after a long day out and about. We used the hammam and the massage services which were also great. An incredibly beautiful house and stay.

We will absolutely be back
Can’t say enough about this place… if you have never been to Marrakesh, the idea of traveling such a chaotic place can feel overwhelming. We learned a lot from our group of 9’s stay. The most important thing we learned; where you stay and who your host is matters! This Riad is not like others… you are given the full, authentic experience. Kahlid and company were there to walk us through every step of the way. From airport transportation, to in-house Hammam’s.. this is the way to go! The hot air balloon is a MUST DO! The in-house breakfast and dinner were divine! The service was top-notch and our group couldn’t be happier with how safe and taken care of we felt. We will absolutely be back.. thank you!

The riad is a FIND.
A group of friends and I came to Marrakech to celebrate my birthday and to see in the New Year. The staff at the riad are extremely friendly and responsive and speak great English. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they went to great efforts to make sure that we were having a wonderful time. The riad was well located, easy to walk to so many places including the Medina and the main square. The rooms were clean and tidy and beds were made every day. The roof terrace was a wonderful space - we had breakfast up there each morning and had a chance to sunbathe a little.

Our stay at the Riad Gypsum was the best experience our group has ever had! Veronica, Youness, and team made our experience very comfortable and easy. The Riad is beautiful, very centrally located, and completely exceeded our expectations - we enjoyed at home spa treatments in the hammam, tea on the terrace, and a dinner cooked by Bouchra at the Riad. We really looked forward to returning to the Riad after our busy days out in Marrakesh. Highly recommend for an unforgettable stay!
