Dimora Di Vico is an exclusive manor, sitting in vast private parkland and manicured gardens just one hour outside of Rome. This incredible home has been in the same family since the nineteenth century when the house was extended, and all of the now mature trees were lovingly planted. In recent years, the house has been fully renovated and is now a luxurious retreat for holidaymakers.
A truly magnificent building decorated to the highest standards and offering all the amenities you need for a relaxing family holiday. Many of the original features have been preserved during renovations, so you can enjoy antique furnishings, traditional floor tiles, vaulted ceilings and fireplaces alongside modern luxuries such as a gym and a cinema room. The owners have gone the extra mile to create an exclusive oasis at Dimora Di Vico and has been designed to be as eco-friendly as possible while not compromising on comfort.
The eco-friendly feel of the house stems from the surrounding gardens and private parkland which is filled with giant oak and pine trees, lawns, florals and charming seating areas. The garden also features a fully-fenced pool, ideal for days relaxing in the sun and also great for children.
This is a beautiful location in Lazio, near the borders of Umbria and Tuscany, a region rich in art, history and unrivalled natural beauty. The villa is set back in its own private parkland but still has shops, restaurants and little villages within a short drive for you to stock up on supplies or eat out, so you are not too isolated.
Though situated in a semi-rural area, this beautiful villa is only 65km away from the capital city of Rome, so you can enjoy local countryside and villages and then be in the capital city within an hour. Rome is a must-see city with a wealth of things to see and do which will be loved by your whole party, the main attractions of the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Trevi fountain are all just an hour from the villa. Plus make sure you walk a bit off the beaten track to see more of the personality of the real Rome, maybe you could take a more unusual tour such as a street art tour or a trip on a night tram tour.

What you should know…
- Dimora Di Vico sleeps up to 14 guests (10 adults and 4 children) with various flexible options across the first floor and lower ground 'family suite'
- Two bedrooms on the first floor are best suited for children using comfortable sofa-beds (see the 'Features' tab for full details of the layout of the first floor)
- The fully equipped leisure area on the lower ground floor can also be made up as a ‘Family Suite’ (again, see the 'Features' tab for full details)
- With direct access to the pool area, a comfortable king-size bed and en-suite facilities, the apartment is also recommended for older couples or guests with reduced mobility
- If travelling with more than ten adults, the sofa-beds in bedrooms 5 and 6 can be requested for adults to use instead of children, subject to a supplement. Please note these two rooms are not of the same standard as the other first floor doubles.
- Wi-Fi is available but will need to be switched on - the owners are committed to using as little electromagnetic energy as possible and encourage you to make the most of your natural surroundings

Location
About the surrounding area of Dimora Di VicoDimora Di Vico is situated in exclusive private parklands in Lazio, near the borders of Tuscany and Umbria. This extensive area oozes natural beauty, and you will find woodlands, vast lakes and walking trails in close proximity to the house. This rural landscape is also ideal for those who enjoy sporting pursuits for example; golf, tennis, sailing, kayaking, hiking and horse-riding are all on offer under twenty-minutes away.
There are plenty of small villages and towns dotted around the area surrounding the villa which are ideal for visiting to stock up on provisions or to discover some local delicacies at small restaurants. The local village is just 5km away and has a lovely medieval old town inside defensive walls as well as new areas. Another nearby town is Viterbo which is 20km away; this often-overlooked town is a nice place to visit and includes some incredible sites such as the Palazzo dei Papi which was lived in by thirteenth-century popes. It is a good idea to book onto a tour which encompasses a number of sites such as this, the fantastic Palazzo Farnese and tombs of the Popes nearby. If palaces and papal history are not your thing, then instead there are many wine tasting tours available to local vineyards!
Just an hour away from these medieval villages and woodlands around the villa, is one of the world’s greatest cities and the capital of Italy; Rome. You may need to visit Rome on more than one occasion as there is so much to see and do there. You are likely to want to visit some of the most famous attractions such as the Colosseum and the Roman Forum so set off early to make the most of your day exploring. Rome is also a great hub for shopping, trendy bars, music venues and chic restaurants over-looking picturesque piazzas.
Another must-visit place close to Rome is the Vatican City, the home of the Papacy. Here you can see the breath-taking Sistene Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican museums. If you wish to visit a number of these attractions you can often buy a joint ticket or an early entry pass which means you can enjoy the beautiful buildings with fewer crowds.

Best Suited For: All AgesThis region is a wonderful place to bring children for a holiday. Stunning countryside surrounds the house and entices you out into nature to explore. Close to the villa, there are walking routes, horse-riding centres, dense woodlands for trekking and having fun and also tennis courts.
A lovely place to visit is the nature reserve at the nearby lake; this volcanic lake is a large, beautiful lake surrounded by woods and is much-loved by those that visit. Here you could simply stroll and enjoy the surroundings, or you could try canoeing, bird watching, mountain biking or let the kids try photographing the abundant local wildlife. If you look out carefully, you can see weasels, wild boar, porcupines, foxes and many bird species!
For a more adrenaline-fueled day out which is still out in the woodlands, try Treja Adventure which is 30km away. This park is a large wooded area where you can have picnics, enjoy the river and try archery, but the main attraction is the collection of tree-top rope courses. There are many different courses for different ages and abilities which are loved by adults and children.
With Rome close by, your children will also be able to visit all of the top attractions with you and make some special memories at the Colosseum or Castel Sant’Angelo. Rome also has a great children’s museum called Explore which has interactive installations, a soft play area and replica kids size shops and banks which is great for a few hours of fun.

Host your dream Italian wedding in this charming manor house set in the most exquisite parkland where you and your guests will be warmly welcomed by the caring long-standing owners.
Only an hour from the romance of Rome, couples can appreciate the splendour of this 19th century villa whilst celebrating in the relaxing and private surroundings of the extensive and beautifully manicured gardens. Professional caterers can be arranged to prepare the most delicious feasts based on seasonal local produce, served either inside the elegant villa for a more intimate event or outside with views of towering cypress trees, pines and undulating Italian landscapes beyond.

Additional Fees for Events
Event fees are tailor-made and based on the number of guests. The owners can provide details on many extra services that you may require.
Wedding Reception
A wedding reception can be hosted inside the villa for up to 50-60 guests.
Alternatively, for a larger event, you may celebrate with family and friends outside in the courtyard and parkland.
If a marquee is required, it is possible to arrange various sizes via an external supplier – this is useful in the case of poor weather. The basement floor (145m2) is another possibility on rainy or cooler days.
Dancing can take place inside (with space for up to 100 people) or outside for all your guests.
Wedding Ceremony
An outdoor canopy or similar can be arranged for a civil ceremony within the villa’s grounds (with permission from the municipality) with no upper limit on guest numbers.
There is also a chapel that seats up to 50 guests around ten minutes from the villa.
An English-speaking celebrant can be provided (depending on whether it is a civil or religious ceremony).
Where to Stay
Up to 14 guests can stay in the villa.
There is further accommodation for 60-80 people within a distance of 15km or even more options approximately 20km away. Transportation can be arranged.
Wedding Planning
The owners can provide details of selected Event Planners or clients may use their own.
Catering
The owners can provide details of high-standard external caterers with special prices for their clients.
Alternatively, guests may use their own but only with prior permission and an additional security deposit - the use of any external caterers is on request and entirely at the owner’s discretion.

There are no specific packages but the venue can help arrange events before and after the wedding as well as cleaning, furnishings and wedding planning (all at an extra cost).

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
We love every single corner of it. Clients do usually fall in love with the flourishing old-trees park, the elegant flavour of the villa (in virtue of the refinement of the materials and the thoughtful fusion of antique and modern furniture) and the like-concierge services they receive from the very first contact.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The entire property is under landscape and archaeological protection since several Roman walls, a sarcophagus, which ended up at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and a bas-relief with gladiators were found.
Have you ever had any famous guests staying?

Must do?
Enjoy the whole 20-hectare property by walking and going jogging, as many guests have done with great pleasure.
Must eat?
The local organic food cooked and served by our personal chef is really excellent.
Must see?
Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola, the Most Old Town of Sutri with its archeological park, the Dying City Civita di Bagnoregio, the Medieval San Pellegrino’s district in Viterbo, among the others.

Our Guests can avail themselves of a number of activities on-site and in the area, whose pristine natural beauty and several cultural sites can be leisurely discovered away from the crowds.

GO!
We stayed in this beautiful villa as a family of four generations. It was perfect - even lovelier in real life than in the pictures. The villa has a wonderful landed country house feel and a large and beautiful garden as well as a huge pool. The staff were great and our hostess extremely helpful, going above and beyond the advice she offered about restaurants (good value and good food) and places to visit. There is so much to see and the tourists are largely Italian. The area remains remarkably undiscovered by others. The countryside is also very green, even in August. Go!

The Italian Villa dream come true
Gardens spilling with lavender, roses, humming with the gentle drone of bumblebees and the white flicker of dozens of butterflies. Majestic cypress trees and boxwoods line the entrance road welcoming you like royalty. Soft green grass that begs for picnics flanks the warm stone terrace that surrounds an aquamarine pool with chaises, chairs, and cream umbrellas. 300-year old majestic, tall umbrella pines shade the back garden and veranda while nearby a circular hedge enclosure houses the perfect hideaway for open air massage under the tall oak trees. The Villa has two separate apartments upstairs with extra beds in the bottom floor and windows that look out on rolling green hills and hazelnut orchards. Dine under a vined archway with many friends, or at the kitchen dining table or the formal dining room and linger with fragrant red wine on the back patio. Wake up to quiet stillness and fresh brown, cream, yellow and even green-shelled eggs brought over by the local farmer. Drizzle the neighboring farmers rich golden green olive oil over your caprese. Laugh into the starry night uninterrupted as you have acres of space to stretch out in. One of the most beautiful vacations we have ever had with the most wonderful host Michela whom we became friends with. It is a special place like no other and I look forward to visiting again!

Great property!
Fantastic property, nothing to complain. It is good for 4 couples and kids. The only thing is that the property for safety reason has to be locked up every time you leave and it takes little bit of time due to complexity. We had a fantastic host and great chef on the property. The indoor and outdoor of the property are immaculate. Be aware that the pool is closed from the 15/09 I will definitely go back. It is necessary to have a car on site.

Absolutely fantastic villa - gorgeous house and grounds and the pool was brilliant! Our hosts were amazingly helpful and responsive - also providing great recs for local activities and restaurants, etc. Very spacious with lovely bedrooms and family areas, great huge kitchen for cooking and socialising. We loved it!

Paradise!
Unusually beautiful house and garden, tranquil and charming. All you need - all I needed! - is provided in the house including electrical car charging. Lovely swimming pool but in case you care not heated. Mind you plenty of summer Sun. Close to really wonderful sites, Rome of course but all kinds of other places in Lazio well worth it eg Etruscan tombs, Villa Farnese, Villa Lante. Michela rightly proud of her house, very quickly replies to queries, very helpful. Paolo has made wonderful gardens.

Highly recommend!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay this past July! Gorgeous (and spacious!) villa and grounds - including a perfect pool area for our three families (adults and older children/teens). Our hosts were extremely helpful in settling us in and answering any questions we had during our stay - wonderful recommendations for local activities and restaurants, etc. We enjoyed every meal in the lovely covered dining area in the garden - idyllic lunches and dinners! Lovely bedrooms and family areas - great kitchen for cooking and socialising. Highly recommend!

A wonderful villa
What an amazing property. You were taking back in time to when children rambled through bushes and trees, and listened to birds singing. The Majestic Cedars of Lebanon on the front lawn majestically protects the villa from midday heat. It is tranquil and quiet. The pool is beautiful and so tastefully surrounded by a hedge and fence, making it very safe for children develop its self is cool and allows you to browse through the many books on art history. The kitchen has all modern conveniences. The cinema room in the basement is cool and adjacent to the pool area which is very convenient for children during the midday. Heat. I cannot recommend this Villa highly enough. The hosts were extremely friendly and inviting. I hope to bring my family back again soon.

The hosts were very helpful in arranging childcare and tours for us and a chef who came to the house to cook dinner 2 of the nights. -
Beautiful villa
Beautiful villa, helpful and kind owners! Immersed in greenery and surrounded by wonderful cypress trees (it feels like being in Tuscany). The structure, the large garden and above all the swimming pool convey tranquility for a holiday or weekend of total relaxation!

Beautiful, green and secluded
After driving along countless orchards and passing through small villages you turn onto a long dusty road, at the end of which you are greeted by a house that could have easily be dreamed up by a romantic novelist. The house is beautifully set in the lush green grounds and honestly, the pictures do not do it justice.
I know it sounds cheesy but waking to the chorus of songbirds only to drink my morning coffee with a view of the Italian countryside, I just can't help myself.
Dimora di Vico is a great place to unwind and relax, and if you fancy a walk I highly recommend following the pilgrim signs to Capranica or all the way to Sutri.
We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to returning. -
Elegant retreat perfect for a peaceful holiday
We have just returned from a wonderful week’s holiday. On arrival the house met all of our excited expectations having seen the pictures before we booked. It is a beautiful house in a beautiful location with stunning and meticulously maintained gardens. The outside world and the humdrum realities of life felt immediately very far away. (We had wondered whether the relative proximity to Rome might have compromised the beauty of the area but we needn’t have worried.)
What we did not know then was how, as our stay progressed, the villa’s true old world charm and elegance would seemingly endlessly unfurl, revealing new delights. There’s nothing showy or ostentatious - simply class and carefully thought out design. The way there always seemed to be some shade to find by the pool; the crisp but not too cold pool temperature; the way just as in the afternoon the heat of the day was starting to become a bit too much, a gentle breeze picked up around the house; the way the evening sun settles on the seating area by the house in time for an aperitif bathed in the rosy light of the setting sun; the lack of mosquitoes (really); and at night, despite the hot temperatures we remained cool and comfortable thanks to the house’s thick walls having kept it cool throughout the day.
The house is an old family home carefully and loving restored by Michela and Paolo. Their devotion to the property and their guests is what really set our stay apart. They are charming, easy going, efficient and straightforward to deal with. They managed to convey how important the house is to them and yet to instinctively understand the importance of letting us enjoy it as if it was our own during our stay. Yet, they simply could not have made themselves more available when we needed them. We were not straightforward guests. Covid restrictions meant we had to self isolate for 5 days upon arrival. Michela spent hours before our arrival making arrangements for food and wine to arrive, meals to be delivered and tests to be done - all taking into account various allergies and dietary requirements. Everything was ready for us when we got there and went without a hitch. For the period we were out of quarantine she booked a lovely restaurant for us and arranged for the chef to come and cook for us. Each were magical evenings. The chef created a wonderful meal which we enjoyed in the dining area surrounded by the beautiful gardens. To top it all, on our last day, when we needed to get medical help, Paolo took us himself to the local urgent care unit. Michela and Paolo were just utterly fantastic hosts - leaving us with a feeling of having been cared for and looked after as family friends rather as part of a service to paying guests. They could not have been kinder or more generous with their time or attention.
Circumstances meant we had little chance to explore but glimpses of possibilities flashed by as we travelled to and from the airport (and the hospital) - the Etruscan tombs, Sutri, the lake. Rome is of course nearby. We left planning our trip back. A final moment of appreciation came whilst we made use of the pool beyond check out time to allow for a later flight. The house became a hive of activity with gardeners, cleaners; Michela and Paolo all working on getting the house ready for the next guests, demonstrating just how much work goes into maintaining it and offering what they do. Yet, had we not stayed beyond our check out time, it would have been completely invisible to us. -
Tranquil, beautiful retreat just one hour from Rome
You'll feel transported to another era when you step foot on this stunningly beautiful property. The owners have lovingly restored this beautiful villa to its original glory. If you let your mind wander you're really transported at this timeless property, despite all the modern conveniences. The home is well laid out and when you roll back the shutters you are hit with spectacular sunlight throughout the home. The garden is stunning and the pool area beautiful. We travelled as a family of four with two young children and had a terrific time for our weeklong stay. Michela was a wonderful host and very helpful with local restaurant recommendations and even finding us a wonderful babysitter so we could enjoy some adult nights out. If ever in and around Rome and looking for just the perfect retreat, you will not be disappointed!

Peaceful place
We have had a wonderful time at your beautiful place. The food has been excellent and the hospitality is amazing. It's such a peaceful place that was just what we needed to contrast our normal life. Thank you so much for everything. Hope to see you again, maybe with our families next time.
