Located in the hills between Sorrento and Positano, with views across to Li Galli Islands, Isole Delle Sirene enjoys a countryside position with the benefit of being just 500m from the road that connects Sorrento to the rest of the Amalfi coast.
In a private setting, you can wander out to a small grocery store or in the other direction towards a hotel with tennis courts for hire. There is also a simple family trattoria within walking distance whilst a further choice of restaurants and a supermarket can be found just a short drive away in the Piano di Sorrento area.
The heart of Sorrento is 6km away, about 15-20 minutes in the car, an idyllic town with steep lanes, historic buildings and mesmerising views. Wander around the charming shops, sample some of the local limoncello products and find wonderful restaurants in the old town to sample some of the regional cuisine.
From Sorrento, boat trips head to Capri, a lovely day out, or look out for summer ferries departing as far as Ischia and Procida on certain days. There are also plenty of excursions to Positano and other gorgeous villages along the Amalfi coast if you prefer not to drive the coastal road.
That said, the famous and romantic village of Positano is only 8.5km away, about 25 minutes in the car, with its stunning scenery, gorgeous restaurants and beautiful beaches. Praiano, usually less crowded than Positano, is also full of charm whilst other highlights along this coastline include the tiny village of Conca dei Marini and the incredible Fiordo di Furore. Alternatively, continue onwards to Amalfi and the magnificent village of Ravello, both just over an hour away.
Keen hikers can set off to explore Monte Vico Alvano in the immediate surrounding area or head towards Sorrento to walk through lemon farms, olive groves and vineyards, often along old mule tracks. There’s also the famous mountain trail between Agerola and Positano with the most amazing views, known as Il Sentiero Degli Dei (The Path of Gods).
You are also perfectly located for a fantastic day out to Pompeii, about 40 minutes by car – arrive early to make the most of the morning before the heat of the afternoon sun. Mount Vesuvius is another brilliant day trip or you could even spend time in Naples (with ferries or trains departing from Sorrento if you prefer not to drive).
