This prestigious villa is located right on the banks of Lake Como, in Italy’s Lombardy region, and an hour and a half’s drive from Milan Linate Airport. It’s surrounded by other lakeside retreats, and with a dramatic mountain backdrop, the property boasts some of the most breathtaking views in Italy.
The local town is a short distance from the villa and has plenty of eateries where you can enjoy the lakeside view while relaxing with some classic Italian fare. If you fancy something with a bit more culture and heritage, the village boasts two churches, one more than a thousand years old, plus an old monastery with a fascinating collection of medieval books.
Lake Como has an efficient ferry service for accessing other lakeside towns and villages with ease. With the ferry stop next to the villa’s grounds, it’s easy to jump aboard and explore. In half the time it takes to drive, you could be at the beautiful town of Bellagio, famous for its magnificent villas overlooking the lake. As well as shops and opportunities to sample the local food, there are also gardens to explore and a stony beach to relax on.
The property is at the foot of the Alps, so you can always explore further, maybe even hiking across into nearby Switzerland. If you want an activity a little less wild, then there is a golf course 30 minutes’ drive away, plus tennis courts closer to home.
Milan, the capital of Lombardy – and Italy’s fashion capital – is around 95km away, but well worth a visit. As well as some high-end shopping opportunities and people watching, you could also drop into the Gothic cathedral, Duomo di Milano, and the Pinacoteca di Brera to see art created by some of Italy’s masters.
