The wonderful Olive Mill Villa is a rural treat on the captivating Greek island of Kefalonia, and one of the few houses on the island with a private chef service. Combining the charm of traditional Greek architecture, think rustic stone walls and terracotta tile roofs, with beautiful gardens, modern guestrooms and a large outdoor Tuscan-style swimming pool. The villa makes the perfect choice for guests looking to relax and recharge in a countryside setting. The villa even basts a helicopter landing area, however, the nearest bakery, taverna and shops are conveniently all within walking distance.
Set amidst a vast olive tree estate for your utmost tranquillity and privacy, and close to the sandy beach of Trapezaki, this charming property offers the best of both worlds – quiet seclusion, yet easy links to discover more of what this breath-taking island has to offer. Inside, the beautifully furnished rooms offer contemporary comfort to complement the classic yet stylish feel, with plenty of luxurious extras including the finest quality linen, hairdryer and toiletries, as well as air conditioning throughout, which gives a pretty good indication of just how seriously comfort is taken here.
The spacious villa is spread across three sumptuous levels and can comfortably sleep between up to eight guests in the main house, and a further two in lower ground floor. Creamy pristine interiors and well-kept outdoor spaces make for a most relaxing hideout. The stone-paved pool terrace includes soft grassy spots perfect for children to play or for you to lay with your holiday read and several loungers are lining the pool for finding your prime sun spot. The garden also boasts an alfresco dining area, more sink-into seating and a barbecue, and is surrounded by flowers, plants and trees for a ‘Secret Garden’ style escape.
Floor-to-ceiling windows let the sunshine flood in, and you can survey the stunning landscape from the private balconies. On the ground floor, there’s a dining area, fully-equipped country-style kitchen, as well as a twin bedroom with an en-suite and a double bedroom with a separate bathroom. On the lower ground floor, there’s also a twin bedroom with an en-suite with it's own entrance, while on the first floor you’ll find the master bedroom with a king-size bed, another twin room and a bathroom with a mosaic shower.
Back to the private chef, Yolanda is very talented and her Moussaka is pretty sensational to. Whatever your choice of food, you will enjoy fantastic freshly cooked meals in these wonderful surroundings. The only way to really experience that is to book a stay at Olive Mill Villa.
What you should know…
- Despite the villa's prime location, the airport and Argostoli town are a 15-minute drive away and while the nearest bakery, taverna and mini-market are all within a short walk, the closest supermarket is a 10-minute drive and so it’s definitely necessary to hire a car
- Please note that the fifth bedroom, although being in the main house, has separate external access
- Those wanting access to five, will need to select 10 guests at the time of booking and pay the relevant rate
- Trapezaki beach is just 1900m from the property, easy walking down but the return trip is best by car!

Olive Mill Villa it is surrounded by a vast olive tree Estate that belongs same owners. Located at the edge of village Poriarata and pretty close to the sandy beach Trapezaki. There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in the main house, which can accommodate up to 8 people. A further two guests can make use of the adjacent cottage suite, raising maximum capacity to 10.

About the surrounding area of Olive Mill VillaKefalonia is a beautiful island in the Ionian Sea, west of mainland Greece. It's renowned for its sandy coves and dry, rugged landscapes. Its capital, Argostoli, is built on a hillside overlooking a narrow harbour and its coastline is made up of limestone cliffs, bays and short strips of soft white sand. With its sparkling azure waters, dazzling beaches and deep emerald green mountains, the large Greek island is a popular holiday destination for families, friends and couples alike.
The villa is within a short 15-minute drive of Argostoli. There you can stroll through the markets and pick up unique souvenirs, watch the fishermen bring in their catch at the harbour or pay a visit to the Corgialenios Historical and Cultural Museum, where there’s an extensive library of rare books. For lunch or dinner, there’s a central square, lined with plenty of local cafés, bars and restaurants. For picking up your own produce, there are also plenty of supermarkets, bakeries and shops nearby.
The nearest beach to the villa is Trapezaki – just 1.9km from the property-a beautiful stretch of coastline 15km southeast of Argostoli and 2km from Lourdata village. The 5km long beach has shallower and clear waters that are perfect for swimming or snorkelling, and there are opportunities for you to rent small self-driven boats or take part in water sports like sea kayaking and paddle boats. There are also plenty of beautiful underground lakes and caves around the island for you to discover by boat trips or scuba diving excursions.
For day trips, you could drive an-hour from Argostoli to the picturesque port of Fiskardo. There you’ll find charming 18th-century buildings, alongside popular fish restaurants and boutiques. Kefalonia is a short distance from Ithaca, another Greek island in the Ionian Sea. There's a daily ferry that departs from the port of Sami in Kefalonia. You can also hop on a boat to see the nearby islands of Meganisi, Scorpio and Lefkas, and stop off at pristine beaches for swimming.

Getting There
How to reach Kefalonia island
There are two ways to get to Kefalonia island: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: During the busy months, the airport of Kefalonia (EFL) receives a great number of domestic but also charter flights. The airport is located 7 km outside Argostoli, the capital of the island.
By ferry: Kefalonia has three ports: Sami (SMI), Argostoli (ARM), and Poros (PKE). If you want to arrive in Sami you should depart from Patra (GRA). In case you want to arrive to Poros or Argostoli you can depart from Killini (KIL). The trips last from 1.5 to 3 hours. Best Suited For: All AgesKefalonia is a popular holiday destination for families with children, and for good reason. Not only are there plenty of beautiful sandy beaches, with safe and calm waters that are perfect for swimming, but there are plenty go cultural and archaeological sites to discover.
The villa itself is surrounded by olive groves and has gardens which are perfect for playing hide and seek in and a private pool for splashing about. Amenities like shops are within a short walk.
The capital Argostoli is 15-minute drive from Olive Mill Villa where there are more shops, restaurants and beaches. There are also churches, monasteries and museums for cultural day trips. There are also child- friendly walking trails to special spots on the island like waterfalls and watermills.

Start the day with an optional jog around the estate, before an hour and a half Morning Flow yoga session with an experienced teacher, the ideal place for a real life sun salutation. Relish a homemade healthy brunch before some daily free time, whether you chose to take a walk in nature and discover the olive estate, see the Ionian Sea, swim in the pool, read a book, or simply relax and reflect in your room, the afternoon is for some you-time. Get to know the rest of your party with a social drink in the gorgeous grounds at sun set, before a dinner cooked by the Yolanda, their talented in-house chef. End the days counting the twinkling stars before retreating to your elegant bedroom for a good night’s sleep. Typical Weekly Yoga Retreat Itinerary:
- 5 yoga classes a week each lasting 1.5 hours, followed by brunch

Wedding Ceremony
The celebrants can take their vows in the magnificently restored and architecturally listed old olive mill, with a spacious terrace and a 17th-century threshing floor. Weddings can take place during the months of May, June, and September.
Wedding Reception
The newly married couple and their guests can celebrate with the most elegant wedding reception in the well maintained historic grounds of the Migliaressis Estate, which includes the sympathetically restored traditional stone villa and its annexes, the old mill and the threshing floor, and the beautifully manicured gardens with Tuscan-style swimming pool and sweeping views over the Ionian Sea. The property can cater for up to a hundred guests, or more depending on different combinations.

Olive Mill Villa doesn’t generally have their own in-house catering but they can work with you, a trained professional chef and the wedding planner to create your own unique wedding breakfast, reception and personal celebrations. You are welcome to use whoever you want.

The venue can provide extra cleaning on request. Day before and after events are permitted and will be included in the wedding package.

Groceries & beverages are also charged for additionally locally, the chef will shop and then provide you with receipts. The cook will prepare daily breakfasts, plus 1 main meal (lunch or dinner) 6 days a week. |

The wider property, a family Estate, has been passed down through the generations.
In 1999, through their company, became sole owners of the Estate, which has been in the hands of the family for 400 years, and have spent much of their time carefully restoring it to its former glory, ultimately, turning it into an idyllic holiday destination.
What was about the property that you first fell in love with ?
The newly (2007-8) constructed Guest villa, built by expert craftsmen, is adjacent to a historical olive grove Estate, with an authentic flavour of Cephalonia’s past. Within the Estate, stands an early 19th century Olive Mill and an 18th century stone-built amphitheatrical threshing floor. Two austere constructions (protected by architectural listing), among the few examples of traditional Ionian architecture that survived the 1953 earthquake in Cephalonia, showcasing life at the Estate through the centuries. Particularly rare are the hand sculpted milling stones made out of local white marble. Nature also is here at its best with absolutely magical panoramic vistas of undulating olive groves all the way to the sea to be seen from different spots of the property.
The entire place, on a lush lip of land between the sea and Mount Ainos, is an irresistible combination of nature, heritage and refinement !
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The estate, near the Castle of St. George, the old capital of the island, during most of the Venetian occupation until the end of the 18th c., has been in the family since 1604. and passed down through the generations.
The first member of the Migliaresi family , who arrived, from Italy to Kefalonia in the 15th century, was Andrea. Over time, they became one of the influential families on the island and had their name written in the “Libro Consigli Famiglie Nobili” known as 'Libro d' Oro'.
The Estate, passed down through the generations, surviving the invasion by German forces attempting to capture the sons of Spiros Migliaressis (grand- father of present owner) involved in the resistance and the effects of the disastrous earthquake of 1953. The restoration of the Estate and the old Olive Mill begun in 2004 as a hobby, whilst Lysander was serving as a Greek diplomat in Vienna.

The entire house with its terracotta old hand-made tiles is our favourite, as it is decorated with top quality fittings and collector’s items. We love the place which exudes grandeur, but also for its beauty, tranquility and un-spoilt countryside.

•Guests also value the wide range extra activities and concierge services avilable to them including; water skiing, kayaking, snorkeling, boat chartering and massages at home.
•Besides having full access to the villa, its private garden and pool, guests may also visit and dine at the magnificently restored 19th century Olive Mill and threshing floor located within the wider estate. For many, this is a memorable and once in a lifetime experience.

•Visit the nearby Venetian CASTLE of ST. GEORGE, atmospheric and with impressive views. Was the capital of the island until 1757.
•Visit the nearby MONASTERY OF ST ANDREW next to PERATATA village, which has a marvelous collection of precious old icons (11th to 18th century).

Best villa experience!
What an exceptional week in what is by far the best villa experience we have had in Kefalonia. The villa is set in beatiful grounds with stunning panaramic views and is unquestionably five stay quality luxury. From comfort of the bedrooms to the facilities and the villa, it was faultess and the small detail is really taken care of.
What gives Olive Mill Villa the unforgettable guest experience however, is the fact that it is staffed by Yolanda and Effie. The villa is fully catered and Yolanda is a incredible cook who prepared by far the best food we had on the island. Effie made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay, keeping the villa and room spotlessly tidy and making our dining experiences truly memorable. There was a beautiful table laid each day, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner and as a group of 9 we were throughly spoiled. The mealtimes were a definite highlight.
The property is joined to an Olive Mill next door which is accessed by a little clearing in the trees and a couple of stone steps. Another highlight of our stay was having dinner prepared in the courtyard of Olive Mill one Evening. It was exceptional and the views from the peaceful Olive Mill courtyard were stunning.
The villa comes with an option to hire a yacht and skipper for the day - we took advantage of this and I would highly recommend this for a day around the islands. All in all a wonderful stay in a beautiful villa with warm hospitality. Thank you -

The olive mill and surrounding area is very special. The main aspect though that stands it apart is the chef and housekeeper which make it a really relaxing stay, while the food is among the best I have experienced in Greece.

We Thought We'd Stepped into a Dream
On arriving at the villa we thought we stepped into a dream - the pool, the stunning garden, the panorama..... how we could have known that the magic was just beginning ? The real secret to Olive Mill's singularity are Yolanda and Effi - words cannot express how lucky we have felt to be so taken care of by the two of them. Every meal has been outstanding- not to mention served with extraordinary warmth and friendliness - and the house has been kept immaculate - no small feat with the eight of us ! Wondeful villa!
Despite the delay in our arrival, the five days that have spent here were very special. This beautiful villa has made it vey difficult to leave although we have managed to explore and enjoy this beautiful island. Wow! Wow! Wow! Thank you for a spectacular week here at The Olive Mill. We have all had an absolute blast and so enjoyed it.
The attention to detail makes this villa feel like a home from home with fabulous interior and exteior decor and very luxurious furnishigs, not to mention the gardens and pool.
Howeve, what really sets the villa apart is impecable staff (every home should have them!). Yolanda and Effie have been superb, charming, fun, discreet, kind, helpful, patient, a joy to have around, and of course, Yolanda is an exceptional cook. How we have loved all her food, her homemade jams, her baklava, her chocolate mousse, the chocolate soufflé, the wonderful fish and moussaka. All provided with such enthusiam and love. -

The villa is always beautifully kept and the gardens and pool are lovely to relax in.
Yolanda's cooking is absolutely superb and we have enjoyed many wonderful Kefalonian dishes. This is the fourth time we have stayed here and we vey much look forward to out next visit. -

We have recovered and regrouped in the most incredible surroundings. The care and attention to detail has been wonderful. The Moussaka the best we have ever tasted!
Tolanda and Effie has care for each and everyone of us - their attention has been unobtrusive and professional. We vary in ages- Seven of us between 26 & 34, two oldies and a 10 week new born- and we have all benefitted from the beauty of the villa but most importantly the care and fantastic food from Yolanda and Effie in these wonderful surroundings. Amazing Holiday
What a truly special week we have had at Olive Mill Villa. We have been so spoilt by Yolanda and Effie. Yolanda's food has been exceptional; we love her cucumber soup and delicious Gazpachio, not least her Orange Salad Dressing.
The villa is beautiful with such lush and verdant gardens. We also had a wonderful evenibng in the old mill, thank you Yolanda and Effie.
Thank you to Lysander for all your guidance and assitanc. We have been in very good hands, please can we come again?The children don't realise how lucky we have been. We had great fun exploring the island. We recommend a visit to Loudas, but walk far right to a lovely quiet beach and there is a traditional taverna up the hill behind. Amazing Holiday, Thank you! -
Amazing Week
We had an amazing week on Cephalonia thanks to Lysander's careful planning, Yolanda's 5-star cooking and this beautiful villa as our home base. Our only regret is having booked a one-week visit as we could have easily stayed two or three times longer. From the moment we arrived, Yolanda and Efi made us feel very much at home. The house is lovely, extremely comfortable and beautifully kept. The grounds are spectacular, full of flowering shrubs and pots, rosemary hedges and olive trees. In such a magnificent setting, one feels totally connected to the natural world, a rare occurrence for those of us who live in large cities. We spent our days lounging by the pool, exploring nearby beaches and towns and going on several day-long boat trips to areas inaccessible by other means. Lysander has amazing contacts and organized everything for us. We highly recommend chartering "My Yacht" for a day-long cruise to some of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. Another must is enjoying one of Yolanda's incomparable dinners next door at the historic Olive Mill, an old and very elegant art of Lysander's ancestral estate. It really is impossible to overstate what an extraordinary experience our visit to Millstone was. We enjoyed every luxurious minute of it and hope to return someday for a much longer stay. Our thanks to Lysander, Yolanda and Efi for making our vacation such a special time.

Impressive!
As soon as we arrived we felt at home; the Olive Mill Villa just makes you feel that way. The rooms and inside areas are very comfortable, in fact I can’t remember when I last slept so well! When we went to bed a flask of cooled water was outside the room, such an attention to detail.
The early morning view from the balcony was pretty special, looking over to Trapezaki Bay, perfect with a ‘proper’ coffee which was readily available. It was so peaceful with only the sound of bird song to break the silence. The birds swoop in the pool, such a joy to watch.
Most of our time was spent in the garden, sitting, lying, eating or swimming in the pool. The house is next to what was an old Olive Mill, part of the owners family for generations.we had a tour and one evening dinner was served in the grounds. Quite a magical experience.
Meals are prepared by Jolanda, who cooks amazing food. Ask for her mushroom risotto, definitely restaurant quality. We ate well, actually the scales tell me ‘too well’! If you are not sure what you want there is a menu to inspire you and the staff will do the shopping too.
We managed to leave a few times. It’s easy to drive round the island and visit places like Assos and Fiskardo. Argostoli is the capital and has a British Cemetery, a few shops and pretty streets. We also went to the monastery dedicated to the island’s Saint Gerasimos. Filled in some images from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin which I’d recently read, and is based in Kefalonia.
The staff at Olive Mill Villa are ever present when you need them yet unintuitive and very helpful, and thoughtful too. Certainly a life I could get used to...they even unpacked my case! This is the perfect villa to relax, the only difficult part is leaving. We definitely intend to return. -

We had an amazing time made all the more special by Yolanda & Effie, discreet, caring, attentive and every single meal outstanding. The powerboat trip was one of the many highlights, book it. A fabulous week that passed slowing in the most relaxing manner.

We had the most wonderful stay at Olive Mill Villa. We loved the amazing pool and garden. We are so thankful of Effie and Yolanda for taking care of us the whole holiday. Every meal was more delicious than the last and the house was very cosy. We loved the beaches so close by. We were particular grateful as Yolanda and Effie were very understanding as we had two babies and different dietary needs. The house was always very clean and the food was on time. All in all it was a wonderful relaxing experience.
