On the ground floor, you’ll find the third double bedroom which has quick access to the private pool. Inside you can enjoy the open-plan living space perfect for rustling up meals, kicking back and watching the television and cosying up on any of the many seating areas. With fine views of the pool and bay, this is a truly tranquil space.

• We found ‘cash is king’, in some of the more remote areas of the island including towns and villages, so best to always keep some cash on you.
• Crete is a large island and is best explored by car, glad we booked in advance as we heard rentals can easily get booked out during the more popular months.
• The pace of life here is slow and easy, but we did get into the local habit of sitting and sipping an iced frappe at the local coffee shop every morning.
