It really is difficult to drag yourself away from Villa Zo, it's such a haven with vibrant gardens with lawns and a lovely beach in front of the villa in southern Corfu. The villa is 200m from an almost private sandy beach, the sea is shallow for quite a way making it perfect for all ages. There are cabanas on the beach and a 2.5km stroll along the beach (you may get wet feet) will take you to a seaside Taverna. Otherwise you will need to drive to Lefkimmi or Molos port for restaurants.
You can get the owner to take you in his boat to local restaurants or just to tour the coast, even a trip to Sivota or even Paxos Island, just for the cost of the fuel. A few minutes drive away is the tiny Lefkimmi marina with a few tavernas. 5km away Lefkimmi retains a traditional, small town feel. If you are a little more adventurous you can walk to a taverna along the beach, 2.5km crossing a small river, not advised after dark though! Not a place for nightlife or tourist attractions, Lefkimmi shows an authentic side of island life. A small river runs through the town which offers restaurants, cafés and useful amenities for the visitors staying in the area. While Lefkimmi lies inland, it’s only about 2km from several beaches, such as Bouka and Alikes.
A longer driver but not to be missed is Corfu Town. Full of surprises, this richly historic town punches above its weight when it comes to cultural attractions and landmark sights. Corfu’s rich cultural tapestry is vividly showcased through landmarks that reflect its diverse historical influences, particularly from British and French rule. The 19th-century Palace of St Michael and St George, originally the British High Commissioner’s residence, now houses the Museum of Asian Art, boasting around 15,000 works from Japan, China, and other Asian regions. Nearby, the elegant Spianada Square—with its gardens, bandstand, and rare-for-Greece cricket pitch—highlights the British legacy, while the adjacent French-built Liston promenade offers stylish cafés perfect for people-watching. Visitors can also explore the Old and New Fortresses for panoramic views and a taste of Venetian military architecture, and meander through the atmospheric, UNESCO-listed medieval quarter of Campiello, where narrow alleys and historic charm await.
