A short walk from the heart of Bagnères de Luchon, Château Des Pyrénées is a remarkable reminder of the region’s Belle Époque heritage. Completed in 1874 during the town’s golden age as one of Europe’s most fashionable thermal destinations, this atmospheric neo Gothic château has been thoughtfully restored to offer an extraordinary retreat. Rich in architectural character yet designed for modern living, it invites guests to experience the charm of a genuine French château without compromising on comfort or convenience.
Spanning more than 650 square metres across four principal floors and an attic, the château provides an abundance of space for memorable holidays. Eight beautifully appointed double bedrooms, including an impressive master suite, are complemented by a collection of elegant reception rooms that encourage both lively celebrations and moments of relaxation. The thoughtful layout creates an easy rhythm for extended families and groups of friends, allowing everyone to enjoy privacy while sharing unforgettable experiences together.
Original Belle Époque features remain at the heart of the château’s appeal. Hand painted ceilings, colourful stained glass, decorative plasterwork and decorative fireplaces reflect its rich architectural heritage, while the magnificent Grand Salon is home to a beautifully restored 1904 Érard grand piano in rare palissandre wood, celebrating the artistic spirit of the era. The dining room sets the scene for leisurely dinners around the antique table, with meals prepared in the gorgeous kitchen and served on the home's exclusive collection of vintage Villeroy & Boch porcelain tableware. Meanwhile, the study, billiards room and games lounge provide welcoming spaces to unwind throughout the day.
Outside, the château enjoys an elevated position at around 650 metres above sea level, bringing refreshing summer temperatures and far reaching views. Manicured lawns, mature trees and a majestic Lebanese cedar frame the grounds, while the main terrace provides the perfect spot for morning coffee or relaxed evening aperitifs with the Pyrenees visible in the distance.
The location combines beautiful surroundings with exceptional convenience. Guests can stroll into Bagnères de Luchon to discover restaurants, cafés, bakeries, shops and the lively twice weekly outdoor market. The renowned thermal spa complex continues a wellness tradition dating back to Roman times, while nearby tennis courts and a 9-hole golf course offer plenty of opportunities for recreation.
The town’s cable car (open seasonally) provides easy access to hiking, cycling and skiing, while spectacular natural landmarks within driving distance include Lac d'Oô, the Vallée du Lis and the famous Port de Balès. With the Spanish border only around fifteen minutes away by car, spontaneous day trips into the beautiful Val d'Aran complete the appeal of this exceptional Pyrenean escape.
- Château Des Pyrénées sleeps up to 14 guests across eight double bedrooms. There are two additional rooms that can have single beds added on request - please see the "Layout" tab for details and enquire for more information.
- Bagnères-de-Luchon is a year-round spa and market town with shops, cafés and many restaurants serving locals and visitors throughout the year. That said, some restaurants, outdoor activities and mountain attractions are seasonal. This includes the Crémaillère Express cable car, which operates only during the winter ski season and on certain dates in summer (usually daily from early July to early September, plus some weekends in June and September). It's worth checking exact operating dates in advance, as they can vary.
- Winter stays at Château Des Pyrénées are possible for skiing and wintersport adventures – please enquire.
