Just south of Biarritz, Maison des Marches is an attractive house with its own swimming pool a 10-minute walk from La Plage des 100 Marches. This is an ideal base for guests looking to make the most of the wonderful outdoor activities across this area from coastal walking and cycling to surfing and golfing – there is even space in the owner’s garage to store your bikes, surf boards and golf clubs.
The interiors of Maison des Marches are bright and modern, benefitting from the house’s south-west exposure which bathes this home in light. There is a stylish lounge and open-plan kitchen-diner with a ceiling fan and doors sliding open to the garden. Cook al-fresco on the plancha as others make the most of the south-west terrace and swimming pool.
The main part of the house sleeps a maximum of 6 adults plus one child across four bedrooms upstairs. The master air-conditioned bedroom features a king-size double, an en suite bathroom and a balcony. There are two further doubles with queen-size beds (one with air-conditioning) as well as an air-conditioned child’s bedroom with a bunk-bed. A family bathroom completes the house.
A simpler studio annexe sleeps one extra guest with its own kitchenette and en suite bedroom. It is connected to the house yet has its own separate entrance. It could be ideal for an accompanying nanny or a relative looking for a little independence.
To the north you have the beaches, golf courses, shops and restaurants of Biarritz - Le Port des Pêcheurs is only 5km by car whilst the famous surfing beach, Plage de la Côte des Basques, is even closer. Play golf at various courses including the one near Plage d'Ilbarritz, 2km away, or just make the most of the sweeping Atlantic beaches, summer beachside restaurants and surfing opportunities.
The coastal walking trail from Bidart to Hendaye starts nearby and passes close to the popular surfing spots of Guéthary and the family-friendly bay at Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Meanwhile, explore the beautiful landscapes around the historic Basque villages of Ascain, Sare and Ainhoa or venture further south towards the Spanish border – the wonderful city of San Sebastián is less than an hour away!
