Located on the edge of a countryside hamlet near Agen (17km), Maison Le Gil is in the heart of Lot-et-Garonne region of southwestern France.
For everyday essentials, the nearby village of Clermont-Dessous (6km) provides a grocery store and a local restaurant. A short drive brings you to the charming riverside town of Port Sainte Marie (9km), where you’ll find a wider range of amenities alongside a picturesque setting on the Garonne. The train station in Port Sainte Marie has departures towards Agen and Bordeaux via Marmande.
Indeed, the beautiful town of Agen, easily reached by train or car, offers extensive shopping opportunities, including hypermarkets, as well as a lively atmosphere typical of a historic provincial hub. On market day, stalls brim with fresh local produce, regional specialities and seasonal delicacies, offering a true taste of the region. The town is particularly celebrated for its culinary heritage, including its famous Agen prunes, as well as its excellent restaurants showcasing the rich flavours of the region.
The surrounding area invites leisurely discovery, with the Lot River to the north near Castelmoron-sur-Lot (24km) and Villeneuve-sur-Lot (33km) where visitors can enjoy a variety of water-based activities. Closer to home, enjoy wine-tasting in the vineyards around Buzet-sur-Baïse (17km) as well as superb walking and cycling opportunities across the area, including parts of the Canal des 2 Mers à Vélo between Damazan and Agen.
