Along the banks of the Orbiel, where water once powered the looms of this former cloth mill, Le Dernier Moulin now offers a refined holiday abode that beautifully balances heritage with contemporary style, just a short drive from the historic grandeur of Carcassonne.

Inside, discover the expansive living-dining space with its glass doors opening to the terrace, revealing a home designed for both comfort and connection. Every detail has been considered so that guests can unwind in style from the lounge’s designer furnishings, underfloor cooling/heating and large-screen Smart TV to the sleek kitchen equipped for gourmet gatherings. We especially love the dining table, set beside a bay window overlooking the millstream flowing beneath the house.

Sleeping up to 10 guests, each of the five modern bedrooms comes with its own en-suite, individual climate control (air-conditioning/heating) and thoughtful touches such as reading lights and dedicated workspaces. The master double, with its garden views, armchairs and gorgeous bathroom, offers a particularly spacious retreat.

Outside, spend time together on the terrace with its al-fresco dining area and lounge. Steps lead down to the heated swimming pool and large garden bordering the canal, ideal for long summer afternoons after a morning of exploration.

A short drive from a small village and only 10km from the fortified wonder of Carcassonne, the location places guests in the heart of southern France’s rich cultural and natural tapestry. Discover restaurants in nearby villages, tour Minervois vineyards or cycle along the tranquil Canal du Midi. There are some incredible hiking trails across the Orbiel valley and Montagne Noire.

For guests seeking style, heritage and a superb setting, Le Dernier Moulin is a home that honours its past while offering every modern indulgence close to Carcassonne.
