The Comte and Comtesse welcome you to their home, the Chateau des Reves, a truly magnificent and historically significant castle for rent. This is one of the most exceptional locations to holiday in Normandy.

The Chateau des Reves is situated in Cotentin, 20 minutes away from the iconic Second World War landing beaches and the unforgettable scenes at St Mere l’Eglise. The surrender of Cherbourg to the allied forces on the 26th June 1944 was signed in the Chateau des Reves between the American and the German Generals. The drawing room is as it was during the conflict so you are walking back in time. The décor will surpass all your expectations.

The Chateau des Reves has 8 guest rooms comprising of a single, 2 twins, 2 doubles, 2 Queen suites and a King suite. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and a telephone outlet. The maximum capacity of the château is 15 adults and 2 infants.

The entry to the château ground floor is through a double hall in Carrara marble, leading to the drawing rooms on the 1st floor and the bedrooms on the 2nd floor. The ground floor contains a very spacious dining room that can seat up to 20 people, a light and modern kitchen, and a large billiards room to add to an enjoyment of the guests.

On the first floor you will appreciate the vast drawing room, there is a library with Louis XVI wood panelling and a stunning fireplace in Carrara marble. The music room and the games room is Louis XV. There is a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

The bedrooms are mostly on the second floor. The bedrooms have all been decorated by leading European interior designers in the elegant French 18th century style but are also up to date with all modern comfort from internet connection in the rooms and heated towel rails in all the bathrooms. There are 7 bedrooms on the second floor, each with its own modern en-suite bathroom. The chateau has a superb swimming pool and a hard court tennis court.

What Oliver loves...

  • Straight from the pages of a fairy tale, this 16th-century French castle is framed by idyllic gardens and rolling countryside.
  • Sit back and relax with the 3 hours of included maid service.
  • The chateau will happily lend you some bicycles to explore your beautiful surroundings.

What you should know

  • Not all of the staff speak English, so plan accordingly.
  • The kitchen has relatively few pots and pans.
  • The caretaker lives onsite in an outbuilding with his two friendly dogs (Great Danes)
  • We recommend car hire for ease and in order to explore what the region has to offer
  • When walking to the local village the route is through a quiet countryside. Please note that on some parts of the walk there are no pavemnets.
