With a blend of French charm and Nordic design, La Lunette is a beautiful villa with incredible vistas towards the Mediterranean, set in a desirable neighbourhood in the French Riviera hills only 3km from artistic Vence.
The panoramic views of the surrounding hills and distant coastline are magnificent from the covered outdoor lounge, infinity swimming pool and pool house with its bar, al-fresco dining area and barbecue. Soak up the sights and aromas of the Côte d’Azur hinterland with lavender, rosemary, olive trees and delicate roses across the pretty garden. As evening nears, it’s idyllic playing pétanque on the atmospherically lit court as the stars appear in the night sky.
There’s a sense of refined elegance across the spacious air-conditioned interiors which have been styled so thoughtfully and furnished to a high standard. As well as the open-plan living and dining spaces with arched windows leading out to the main terrace, we love the cosy TV lounge with home cinema and the gym/sauna.
The six good-sized bedrooms are scattered across the three floors, all featuring en suite bath/shower rooms and flexible sleeping arrangements with large double beds (mostly king-size), three of which can be split as twins. We especially love the master bedroom on the top floor with unobstructed sea views from its private terrace and even a sea and mountain vista from the bathroom.
Exclusive services can be arranged from a private chef service and gastronomic experiences to wine tours, massage treatments and yacht charter. Indeed, French Riviera coast is a perfect day out whether trying out watersports in Cagnes-sur-Mer, dining in a beachside restaurant in Juan-les-Pins, visiting the Picasso museum in Antibes or wandering along Nice’s famous promenade.
Closer to home, discover the glorious surroundings by hiking, cycling or horse-riding across the rural landscapes nearby. Vence itself is a joy to explore with its warren of cobbled lanes, art galleries, daily market, restaurants and Matisse’s Chapelle du Rosaire whilst neighbouring St-Paul-de-Vence is home of the highly regarded Fondation Maeght, the country’s first independent art foundation with contemporary exhibitions, the Joan Miró labyrinth and a sculpture garden set amongst the towering pines.

Outstanding Landscapes
In the hills behind the French Riviera coastline, the village of Vence offers an idyllic escape. La Lunette is located in an attractive residential neighbourhood just outside the village, around 3km from the Vence’s main square. It’s fantastic being only a 20km drive from Nice Airport.
Surrounded by stunning views of the Mediterranean coast and Côte d’Azur hinterland, Vence is a charming blend of history, art and natural beauty. Wander through narrow cobblestone streets and admire the centuries-old architecture, picturesque squares and works of art in local galleries before walking to Matisse’s wonderful Chapelle du Rosaire (2km) just outside the village. There’s a daily market of local produce and flowers at Place du Grand Jardin whilst the larger market takes place on a Friday morning.
Meanwhile, neighbouring St-Paul-de-Vence (8.5km) invites you to experience yet more timeless beauty and tranquil elegance with its art galleries, quaint cafes, and boutiques, all set against panoramic views of the lush countryside. The highly regarded Fondation Maeght is a must for art enthusiasts with its contemporary exhibitions and Joan Miró sculpture garden.
Pass the old town of Cagnes-sur-Mer (12km) and the Polygone Riviera shopping centre (11km) en route to the French Riviera coast. Discover long beaches, a great promenade and summer watersports at Cagnes-sur-Mer’s main beach, close to its famous horse-racing track, L’ Hippodrome de la Côte d'Azur.
A little further afield, soak up the charm of Antibes’ old town (23km) with its historic ramparts and Picasso museum, then follow the incredible coastal walking trail on Cap d’Antibes, perhaps combined with lunch out on the exclusive Plage de la Garoupe (27km). Cannes (33km) is another fine trip out alongside the artistic hilltop village of Mougins (32km) so loved by Picasso, now home to several gastronomic restaurants and art galleries.
In the other direction, spend the day falling in love with historic Nice (25km) before continuing along the coast towards the beach and old town at Villefranche-sur-Mer (33km), the beautiful Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula, the magical hilltop village of Èze (38km) and even Monaco (46km) for a wealth of varied experiences along the exclusive Côte d’Azur.
