Overview
Perched on a terraced hillside of olive trees, close to an enchanting village much loved by artists, Villa De La Magie enjoys the most magical setting in the Côte d'Azur hinterland near Grasse.
Feel the historic charm of this gorgeous abode which offers beautiful accommodation for twelve guests. The 19th century house is a delight with pretty blue shuttered windows and south-facing aspect. Step inside and it’s just as lovely with carefully selected antique furnishings and characterful features alongside modern comforts such as a sound system, cable TV and a wonderfully equipped country kitchen. Two of the doubles are en suite, including the romantic master bedroom, whilst the two bedrooms on the top floor share a beautifully decorated bathroom. Downstairs, French windows lead out to a stone terrace and a gorgeous pergola for tranquil breakfasts of coffee and croissants.
A 500-year old two-storey cottage, just set behind the maison, also features an en suite double bedroom with a grand king-size bed whilst a separate pretty stone annexe can be home to another two guests with its own little rustic terrace.
Wander through the designer landscaped gardens and admire the glorious scents, bright colours and soothing sounds of your picturesque surroundings. With terraced grounds of olive trees, fragrant herbs, a towering pine, pretty stone steps and a trickling fountain, the ambience is just perfect. At the very end, find the inviting swimming pool and perhaps the pièce de resistance, the spectacular pool house with its vast lounge and kitchen-diner, contemporary shower room and stunning terrace with barbecue for poolside dining at its best.
Just 2.5km away is a much-loved perched village so typical of this region with narrow lanes, historic houses and terrace cafes alongside upmarket restaurants. This characterful village has attracted artists and writers over the many years and its panoramic views are sure to inspire you.
There are many other idyllic villages to explore, from Fayence and Seillans, one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’, to Picasso’s beloved Mougins near the coast. Learn all about France’s perfume heritage in nearby Grasse, visit the historic market town of Valbonne on a Friday morning or head further inland to the magnificent landscapes around Gourdon and the Gorges du Loup.
Then there’s hiking, horse-riding and summer watersports around Lac de Saint-Cassien, only 12km away, as well as the sandy shores of the French Riviera with Cannes around half an hour by car and the beauty of Antibes and its peninsular just a little further. You really can experience both mer et montagne in this wonderful part of southern France.

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
Anywhere you are on the property you will find some serenity. The garden is landscaped by renowned artist Jean Mus. The property is set up like a hamlet on its own and you spend much time outside. You are set on the mountain overlooking hills, the local village and a little bit of water.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The property was part of a village which would be part of the roadway from Grasse to Cabris. There is a splendid Mazet which has been fully renovated from to its original stone from the 15th century. The pool house is a state of the art entertainment living space area.
Have you ever had any famous guests staying?

Go to the local markets like in St Cezaire, Fayence, Valbonne, Grasse. Go to Bar-sur-loup and hike to the beautiful mountain town of Gourdon. Have an aperitif in Cabris which you can hike up from the house in 30 minutes. Explore the town of Mougins and Eze and the wide range of exceptional food. Nowhere in the world have I seen this quality of food/ingredients. Within 20 minutes you are in Cannes and check out the famous beach clubs. If you want something more quiet go to Theoule sur mer and find yourself a hidden bay.
The author of The Little Prince was born in Cabris and Albert Camus lived there later in his life. Many USA celebrities live/lived within 20 minute drive from the house such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Clint Eastwood etc.

Outstanding!
The most classically wonderful, enchanting and magical place to stay. It is a stones throw from the beach but in all honesty there is no point leaving. This is a very very very special place. The set up, with what can only be described as the best pool house ever built, is perfect. Every morning we'd stroll down for breakfast and stay down all day, eating, drinking, relaxing, swimming etc... but that takes nothing away from the house. Architecturally outstanding, original, spacious, a place full of adventure and discovery. Roger is a great host. Totally went out of his way to make sure our stay was brilliant and we couldn't have hoped for more. Of course we will be returning. That goes without saying.

What an amazing property!
What an amazing property! It’s like a little historic village all of your own. The buildings are hewn of ancient stone and the decor takes you back to a more simple time… but with all of the modern amenities. We loved relaxing by the pool and gathering at the pool house for meals and drinks. The location is perfect- I walked up to the lovely local village and did a hike on part of the GR route right from the property. There is also a lovely trail a few minutes walk away along a canal where I did afternoon runs, and there are multiple places nearby for amazing cycling. There are so many short day trips from the area as well- you are within 20-60 minutes of renown beaches, museums, shopping, and outdoor activities. I enjoyed a day trip to Grasse, the perfume capital; Monaco, to visit the oceanography museum; and I biked down to Cannes for an ocean view. I’d go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend!

Dream of a lifetime
My stay at Villa De La Magie was a dream of a lifetime. The property has so many unique accommodations due to many recent renovations. Some of the homes date back hundreds of years. Taking you back in time while in the comforts of modern technology. From Villa De La Magie there are numerous hiking trails including a magnificent trek to the top of the local village, the famed village of the “Little Prince”. Besides hiking, there is easy access to a beautiful lake where I paddle-boarded and kayaked. I loved the easy access to outdoors activities especially the well-marked bike trails which are endless. At Villa De La Magie there is a beautiful pool and another “pool” houses with a full modern kitchen, beautiful bathroom with shower, huge fireplace and a champagne terrace. It adds a beautiful dimension to this classic country French villa.

We will be returning soon
This was my first trip to the southern coast of France with my husband. We decided not to stay in a hotel and opted for a private home at Villa De La Magie. It is a resort style hamlet with multiple types of accommodations from an authentic large farmhouse to several small cottages. The grounds are spectacular with beautiful vistas in every direction as well as wonderfully landscaped terraces. There is a separate super modern pool house that is magnificent with a full modern kitchen, bathroom and living room, which can be easily used year-round. Villa De La Magie was so much more that I anticipated. It is a wonderful chance for families, small to medium sized groups or couples. We will be returning soon.
Don't miss out! Reserve now and get a full refund if you change your mind within 48hrs.
