With unique designs, bold artwork and wonderful sea-views, Villa Des Caraibes is a colourful holiday home in a superb position in Vallauris, close to Cannes and the sandy shores of the glistening Côte d'Azur.

The sense of style and space is superb in this architect-designed villa with air-conditioning throughout. Four en suite bedrooms can be found across three floors, including a lower ground annexe with fitness equipment and two upstairs rooms leading out to a terrace with views towards the French Riviera coastline. On the main floor, the elegant lounge sits alongside the cool and contemporary kitchen-diner – this is modern open-plan living at its best.

Step straight out to the joyful garden with its picturesque pool and characterful bar plus there is ample room for al-fresco lounging and dining by the plancha-style barbecue. Towering pines and palm trees juxtapose striking sculptures across this quirky and artistic abode – after all, this is the region that has inspired so many great artists over the years.

Stroll (bear in mind there are no pavements) into Vallauris, around 1km away, and look out for works of art inspired by Picasso who lived here for several years – the Musée National Pablo Picasso is a must-see in the town. Soak up the Mediterranean vibe as you visit bustling restaurants, café-bars and shops and pop into one of the many ceramic studios that Vallauris is also known for.

The marina and beaches of Golfe-Juan are only 4km away or head to the beautiful shores of Cannes and Juan-Les-Pins. When not experiencing the glamour of Cannes or the charm of Antibes, hop on a ferry to the Lérins Islands and follow one of the stunning coastal trails on Cap d’Antibes.

Maybe Nice and Monaco will be on your list of places to see. Don’t miss some of the Côte d'Azur’s picture-perfect villages in the hills from flower-filled Mougins, also loved by Picasso, to Biot and Opio. Not forgetting the perfumes of Grasse and the glorious market town of Valbonne – all gems so easily reached in this captivating part of southern France.
