With a great sense of open-plan space as you step into the chalet, cosy up by the woodburning fire, watch TV on the second sofa or dine together after preparing meals in the contemporary and well-equipped kitchen. Winter | Ski Chalet

December - April

During the snowy months, Chalet Houches is a great base for skiing across the Chamonix valley with Bellevue and Le Prarion cable cars just a short drive away for beginner and intermediate slopes as well as gorgeous snow trails through the forest. With the Mont Blanc tramway also close by as well as the much-loved town of Chamonix, this chalet offers a range of winter experiences and sight-seeing yet is also away from the bustle of a busy skiing resort. Return to your charming chalet, warm up by the wood-burning stove and chill out in the games and TV lounge, then soothe your aching muscles in the outdoor hot tub surrounded by Alpine landscapes.

Summer | Alpine Chalet

July - August

As summer approaches, this area is a mecca for mountain bike enthusiasts with a fantastic downhill trail from Le Prarion whilst there are so many idyllic walking, hiking and cycling possibilities through the mountains. Enjoy a summer trip on the Mont Blanc tramway or spend time appreciating the vibrant atmosphere of Chamonix with its restaurants, bars and terrace cafes – the Mer de Glace and Aiguille du Midi are must-sees in the summer months too! On summer evenings it’s wonderful to be able prepare Savoyard feasts in the kitchen or by the barbecue to serve on the al-fresco dining terrace overlooking the forest – there are even sun loungers to soak up the rays as well as the inviting hot tub.

What you should know

  • In the winter, please note snow tyres are necessary in order to reach the chalet and its neighbouring roads. There is one car parking space outside the chalet (not accessible in the case of heavy snowfall and ice) and two more at the bottom of the drive around 50m away.
  • In the summer, please note that the path up to the chalet is a gravel/unmade surface (best suited to a car with high-ground clearance).
  • Please be cautious with young children around the open-tread staircase and the vast, open surroundings.
