Whether you choose to wander the grounds or relax in the hammock by the private pool, you’ll experience something priceless: uninterrupted quality time with your loved ones.

There’s plenty of room for a group of 10 (plus any small kids that are in tow!) in this 250 square metre villa. Each of the five bedrooms feature en suite bathrooms, no sharing necessary. A lovely welcome present will be waiting for you in the country style kitchen - including 3 bottles of wine from the nearby Château de Gurson (which, coincidentally, is worth a visit!).

A Welcome Barbecue is offered for 2 or more week reservations, so you can start your holiday without having to prepare a meal.

This family villa is convenient to all manner of outdoor activities; 2 km down the road is Lac de Gurson, where kids can play in the adventure playground, swim in the supervised swimming lake, and the whole family can find a bite to eat in the cafés which are right by the water's edge.. If you’re an oenophile, head south to the River Dordogne and follow it to Bordeaux (70 km) or to Bergerac (30 km), tasting at the vineyards along the way.

Owner Profile

Property Owner
Charmaine

How long have you owned the property?
10 years.

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The amount of space... it really is a piece of Paradise.

Are there any interesting stories in its history?
During the War it was used by German soldiers. We still find their food cans in the forest! The 'Line of Occupation' is 2 kilometres away, and we were in the non-occupied zone.  One of the rooms is fitted with original wall tiles which one guest said he's only seen in a museum. A previous owner had 29 horses which he bred for trotting; he had CCTV in the stables linking up to his bedroom - it must have been the first 'Big Brother' for 4-legged friends.

Have you ever had any famous guests staying?
Only those who remain incognito.

For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?

Take a wine tour and tasting at local Chateau la Plante - the owner is 85, and absolutely wonderful (as are his wines).

Really eat?
Local foie gras.

Really see?
Watch the amazing sunrises and sunsets, and spot the shooting stars.

Lastly, what insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
Le Manoir sits in the middle of 98 acres of beautiful scenery, so it's completely private. We have a little 'Book of Gold', with ideas for days out and a wonderful little-known restaurant for the Flavour of France (and, at 15€ a head, wine included, it shouldn't be missed). In the middle of the wine-growing region, St Emilion is only 25 minutes away. The Lac de Gurson has a sandy beach and swimming lake, which is a great place to spend time out. One of the best features is our swimming pool, which overlooks the hidden valley.

ENQUIRE NOW

The Region

The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.

The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.

The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

  • A great place for a large family holiday with kids

Posted by Anon User on 19/11/2012

The owners could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent facilities (pool, 2 fishing lakes, golf range and walking) in a lovely setting. Top marks for children of all ages.

Liked best: The pool and outdoor facilities.

  • A lovely country escape

Posted by Anon User on 19/11/2012

I stayed at Le Manoir with my partner late December 2011, just before Christmas.

The first thing you will notice is the clean air, and the expanses of green that surround you. It is like stepping into another time.

The manor has 2 floors, but there is one bedroom located on the ground floor which would be convenient for any guests with special needs. The remainder of the ground floor contains a foyer, a sitting room, a lounge room with a wood heater and a television (it receives both French and English cable channels), as well as a full kitchen with all the modern amenities you are used to, but still maintaining its old-world charm.

Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms with en suites, all decorated impeccably. The room we stayed in had double basins, a heated towel rail and a spa bath in the en suite. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I had the best sleep I have had in months. This was also helped by the lack of disturbing light or noise.

Our hosts, Charmaine and Jeff, were extremely hospitable, and had plenty of advice on nearby places to visit and good walks to do.

There is a nearby wine cellar located in front of ruins, which is also famous for growing giant vegetables, and has donkeys wandering the grounds. There is also a nice walk down to the lake.

The grounds of Le Manoir are complete with a swimming pool, and their own lakes. They also have chickens and ducks, which add to the atmosphere.

It would be the perfect place to have a family holiday, a family reunion, or even a wedding.

We can't wait to go back!

  • One of the very best places to go and stay

Posted by Anon User on 19/11/2012

The place, the house, the lakes and last but not least the owners Charmaine and Jeff make this place to be one of the loveliest places we have been to. We are a group of friends that share their holiday for bicycling once a year and for 12 years we have been going to France. We have been to several nice places. But there is something about the Manoir Beaulieu which makes it special: the air made us sleep wonderfully; we've seen birds which we had almost forgotten existed; we shared hospitality and friendliness with Charmaine and Jeff. Well, we will come again next year. Thank you very much, Charmaine and Jeff, for the holiday (and for helping out with flour, breakfast egg, shampoo and whatever we were missing:-)).

  • All around a great experience

I stayed on this beautiful estate during the Easter holidays last year and this, and it was a vacation with pure relaxation. The location of the house, the and the generosity and quiet, discreet friendliness of the owners were decisive. I recommend this place without any objections!

  • A warm welcome

Posted by Anonymous User on 17/01/2012

We arrived to an unexpectedly warm welcome where Charmaine & Jef cooked us a wonderful BBQ with local wines; a great treat after a long drive from Kent. Throughout our stay, we were made to feel very welcome by our hosts who live in the adjoining house to Le Manoir and they were always ready to assist with anything we needed from local information such as nearest shops, markets and vineyards to 'guided' mushroom hunts through the woods on the property. Our children enjoyed the horse riding and the grounds were a great place for adventure and exploration. The accommodation was as we expected with great bedrooms/en-suite facilities, a huge living & dining room (that we hardly used due to the glorious weather) and a large family kitchen. Our stay was a totally relaxing and thoroughly peaceful experience and a good base for exploring the western end of the Dordogne. If you're a cyclist, the surrounding areas were an absolute pleasure to ride with great surfaces, no potholes and all motorists appearing extremely courteous. We'd like to wish our hosts every success as they continue with their ongoing development plans for Le Manoir, which can only improve what is already a fantastic holiday destination for those who seek the tranquility of the countryside rather than the crowds of the better known towns further east in the Dordogne Valley.

  • Expectations were met, highly recommended

Posted by Anonymous User on 17/01/2012

Having spotted the manoir online we wondered whether our expectations would be met, none of our 11 strong group were disappointed... The Manoir was very clean, with extremely spacious rooms. Each bedroom had it's own style, delightfully comfortable beds and tastefully finished en suite bathrooms. All the facilities throughout the property were in good working order. The decor was classic (recently redecorated) and the beautiful furniture thoughtfully arranged.Charmaine and Jef, who live next door, not only cooked us a delicious welcome BBQ, but throughout the booking process and our stay their 'can do' attitude was a fabulous. They were to hand to answer queries, offer suggestions of local markets and sightseeing visits and arranged local restaurant bookings/ wine tour and would have organised further activities if requested. We were made to feel as welcome additions to their family. Saying that our party had complete privacy, with the freedom to roam throughout the 98 acres and carry out whichever activities we had a whim to undertake (rowing / fishing / golf / table tennis / basketball...). The patio and swimming pool were areas we used the most, and perfect for BBQ's, reading in the shade, sunbathing and meals en-masse with breathtaking views in every direction. The property was perfect for our group (ages ranging from 6 to 75) and the location ideal for exploring the Dordogne region (although some of our party only left the Manoir a couple of times during our stay as they were more than content within the grounds). Since our return (only a couple of days ago) our glowing reviews of the property have prompted friends and colleagues to want to visit Le Manoir, and we hope to stay again in the not too distant future. I shouldn't really have written too glowing a review, as we don't want this place to become booked up / or to miss out on the opportunity of visiting Le Manoir in the future, however others should experience this place, it is stunning having so many positive attributes, impossible to include in this review... go visit!! Fantastic holiday!
