As Maison Indigo is part of a small coastal resort, amenities and a range of fun facilities are just a short walk or drive away. The sea and beach are close by, making it easy to head down to the sand to relax and enjoy swimming and other water-based activities.
You'll find several restaurants, bars and shops within a five-minute drive of the villa, along with a pharmacy and post office. Also nearby is a lovely park for leisurely strolls close to the beach. There are plenty of coast and country walks on the doorstep, with perfect terrain for cycling also.
Just over the Loire Estuary is the city of Saint-Nazaire (15km), with something to suit every member of the family. Maritime fans will enjoy the number of museums and galleries dedicated to naval history, such as the submarine base and shipbuilding museum. The botanical garden is a beautiful place to spend time in the sun, with its stunning floral displays and surprising architectural features. Geckoland children's centre offers a variety of soft play areas, slides and ball pits, with great food and drink options available.
Drive an hour west to the historic city of Nantes (60km). Its main highlight is the medieval Château des Ducs de Bretagne, which is now a fascinating local history museum. Nantes is also a hub for the arts, with the Musée d’Arts housing works by artists such as Monet, Chagall and Rodin. A stunning sight not to be missed is the collection of mechanical animals called The Machines of the Isle of Nantes by the old shipyards.
The Region
Brittany is famed chiefly for its beaches, and with so much coastline to explore it’s certainly one of the best reasons to visit the region. But there’s more to Brittany than sun, sea and sand, and while a good chunk of our villas and chateaux in Brittany are found next to the coast the ones further inland are just as tempting.
