Overview
From the moment you arrive at Chateau Calinotte, you can experience dreamy, unspoilt French countryside from this beautiful 19th century chateau, only 45-minutes from Bordeaux centre. Built in 1824, this magnificent neo-classical house has been carefully renovated, rejuvenating the architecture and luster of its past, whilst adding in elements from the current century. Chateau Calinotte is located in Lamarque along the Gironde estuary, where you can truly appreciate the calm and serenity of the estate and its superb, wooded park, with 40 hectares of surrounding vines.
As you step inside, every corner of the property drips with old style charm, sophistication, and an atmosphere of serenity. Contemporary artworks hint to the modernisation of the building, yet never overshadow the classic elegance of the original design. The entrance boasts a colourful chandelier signed Bocci, as well as three paintings in copper wire, works by Alice Anderson that enhance the surrounding stonework.
To one side of the entrance way there is a fabulous dining room with a feature fireplace and an enviable kitchen, just waiting for budding guests to pick up some local ingredients and start cooking! To the other side of the chateau there is a large living room, with Italian furniture and an intimate smoking room-library, perfect for quiet moments of contemplation.
The bedrooms are arranged over two floors, with two cosy rooms overlooking the courtyard and vineyards. Upstairs there are two spacious suites, furnished with unique Afghan rugs, antique furniture and high-end bedding. Finally, the top floor boasts a fantastic games room, with vast sofas, a flat screen and board games, perfect for joyful evenings and afternoons as a family.

Whether you are travelling for a weekend, week, or month, we cannot recommend this fabulous location and stunning property enough.
Chateau Calinotte is located in Lamarque along the Gironde estuary, where you can truly appreciate the calm and serenity of the estate and its superb, wooded park, with 40 hectares of surrounding vines.
Nearby you’ll find all manner of country activities besides hiking. You can ride horseback, play golf or tennis, or swim in the nearby lake. Located between Saint-Julien, Margaux and Moulis, wine lovers will be in heaven here; with many of the most famous wine regions in the world on your doorstep. You’ll certainly want to pick up a bottle of bubbly when you visit Langres - the cheese of the same name produced there has a concave cap meant to be splashed with Champagne.
Of course, as well as the incredible wine, the food of Bordeaux is also a joy to experience. Guests can pick up all sorts of seasonal fresh produce at Farmers markets, the largest being Marché des Capucins, whilst the city also has a vibrant gastronomic scene with restaurants to suit every taste from simple eateries to traditional and high-end establishments. It is well worth booking ahead of time, if you want to treat yourselves to a special meal. The chateau concierge can also arrange private dining options at the chateau itself!
An unmissable day trip, the picturesque riverside setting of Bordeaux is mesmerising. With picturesque walks, grand bridges and river cruises with trips even as far as the impressive Gironde estuary. On the other side of the river, near Parc aux Angéliques, you can experience canoeing and kayaking along the Garonne, giving a different perspective over the city.
