With its prime spot, a stone’s throw from the nearest sandy beach, Kalamies, four-bedroomed Althea Kalamies Luxury Villas provide the perfect setting for a family-friendly holiday in Cyprus. The four-villa complex is in the charming town of Protaras on Cyprus’s south-east coast. Think beautiful beaches, a friendly laid-back atmosphere and picture-worthy architecture. Each villa has a sun-lounger-lined swimming pool and is decorated modern in style with whitewashed walls and natural-coloured furnishings with playful pops of vibrant blue picking out the hues of the sky and the sea.

The two-storey villas sleep between two to eight people – perfect for couples or groups of friends and families alike. When you arrive, park in your own private car parking space before kicking back on one of the cushioned sofas or chairs. You won’t want to stay there for long though because the glistening waters of your generously-sized swimming pool await. In-between dips, find your prime sunbathing spot or read under the shade of an umbrella. The pool and garden area is surrounded by a translucent fence so that you can enjoy those panoramic vistas of the Mediterranean sea.

Inside, you have the choice of four stylish bedrooms. There’s an en-suite master bedroom and two twin bedrooms, as well as a bathroom with spa-like Jacuzzi on the first floor. On the ground, you’ll find the other en-suite twin room with a shower. The villa also boasts a spacious living room and kitchen, equipped with everything you’ll need to relax, cook or dine. Pick up your fresh local produce from the shops (200 metres away) and eat al fresco on your dining table.

When you’d like to go exploring (we recommend that you do), there are local restaurants a short stroll away, as well as sandy Blue Flag beaches and the town centre. Head to Fig Tree Bay for snorkelling in calm, crystal-clear waters or discover the Hellenistic tombs in the area. Cape Greco National Park with its protected pine forests and popular scuba diving and swimming spots is also a must visit. When you get back from your action-packed day, your cooling air conditioning awaits.

Location

The charming town of Protaras is on Cyprus’s south-east coast. With its beautiful beaches, traditional Greek restaurants and plenty of things to see and do, it’s a popular holiday destination. From Althea Kalamies Luxury Villas you’re about an 18-minute drive to vibrant Ayia Napa and 45 minutes to Larnaca Airport. With a public bus stop about 250 metres from the villa too (with regular buses going to Ayia Napa and Paralimni with famous Nissi beach), getting around is super easy. Monday to Sunday from 07.00 to 04.00 hrs.

In Protaras, you have plenty of sandy beaches to choose from. For a change of scenery from the one right outside your villa, head to golden sandy Fig Tree Bay, quiet Green Bay about 10 minutes away or secluded Sirena Bay. Snorkel in the calm waters, relax in the sun or take part in adrenaline-fuelled water sports like windsurfing or paragliding. Scuba diving is also a popular past-time in this part of Cyprus. Cape Greco in Ayia Napa is an ideal choice for its exciting canyons and caves.

For a break from the beach, head to Protaras town centre and browse the small shops and market stalls, before stopping for a refreshing drink or bite to eat at one of the restaurants, bars or cafés. For more higher-end boutiques and shopping centre, Ayia Napa is the place to be. The city also boasts a Venetian-era monastery and harbour lined with tavernas. One of the party capitals of the world, you’ll find plenty of bars and nightclubs where you can dance till dawn too. You could also drive about an hour and 20 minutes to the island’s capital of Nicosia. There, must see-places include Cyprus Museum, Selimiye Mosque and the pretty old town with its Venetian sandstone walls.
