Location
About the surrounding area of Galene ApartmentDalmatia, Croatia, has fast become known as THE high-end tourist destination in recent years thanks to its stunning landscapes, picturesque towns and beautiful, secluded coves and beaches. All of this makes it the ideal location for those wanting a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
Galene Apartment is part of a luxurious and exclusive residential resort - the only one of its kind along the Adriatic Coast. Located in the picturesque town of Primosten, which is famous for being one of the most attractive destinations on the Adriatic, this charming area won’t fail to impress. In Primosten you’ll find the perfect blend of past and present, with its narrow paved streets, old stone houses, and churches nestled alongside its promenade, fine-dining restaurants, cosy taverns and classy cocktail bars.
Once an island, but linked to the mainland since the 16th century, the former fishing town of Primosten is now primarily known as a holiday resort, catering to those who are after peace, beauty and relaxation. It provides the perfect ‘base’ for your Croatian holiday, with easy access to the other towns, cities and sights that Dalmatia has to offer - yet still has plenty to enjoy as a destination in its own right.
You’ll be able to spend your time walking through the pretty streets and taking in the stunning local architecture - including the 15th century, white stone Church of St George along with its belltower and cemetery, and the equally impressive Our Lady of Loretto statue - a 17 metre shrine to the Virgin Mary which is located on Gaj Hill above primosten and offers incredible views of the town.
If you’ve come for the beaches, you won’t be disappointed; especially when you discover the town’s famous Raduca beach. This pretty pebbled beach offers breathtaking views of the Primosten peninsula, and is popular with families with young children thanks to its shallow waters, excellent nearby parking and easy access.
When it comes to places to eat and drink in the town of primosten, you’ll be spoilt for choice. From the Santa Marina that offers a variety of traditional Dalmatian dishes including Peka (meat and vegetables cooked over hot coals), and Pasticada (a beef stew dish), as well as a good selection of fish dishes….to Mediteran Restaurant in the centre of town, which has an excellent menu including fresh seafood and steaks as well as offering a fantastic selection of wines.

Region
Perched on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, Primošten is a stunning seaside town that beckons visitors with its warm Mediterranean charm. This enchanting destination is more than just a picturesque coastal enclave; it's a place where the past gracefully meets the present, and where breathtaking landscapes paint the perfect backdrop for a memorable vacation.
Primošten features pretty, stone streets that wind their way through the town. You'll feel as though you've stepped back in time as you explore the ancient architecture and discover the many quaint shops and restaurants.
The white stone Church of St. George, perched on a hill at the heart of the town, is a must-visit attraction. Its bell tower offers an excellent vantage point to take in panoramic views of the town and the sea. As you stroll through the old town, you'll also come across the famous Bucavac, a circular stone tower that was once a key part of the town's defence system. It now serves as a cultural venue and a reminder of the town's fortified past.
The area’s coastline is dotted with picturesque coves and pebble beaches, making it a haven for beach lovers. The crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic are perfect for swimming and snorkelling, and paddle-boarding and kayaking are a popular way of exploring the coast. The most famous beach in Primosten is Mall Raduca, a Blue Flag beach known for its clean, safe waters and pristine surroundings.
A delightful way to immerse yourself in the peninsula’s natural beauty is by taking a walk through the Primošten Vineyards. These remarkable stone-walled vineyards date back to the 16th century and are now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The breathtaking vistas of the Adriatic Sea and the charming town below will take your breath away.
You can sample the local wines produced from these vineyards in the traditional restaurants along Primosten’s waterfront, which also serve up a variety of freshly caught fish and shellfish. A must-try dish is the Dalmatian classic, "Peka," a hearty dish made from meat or seafood slow-cooked with potatoes and vegetables under a bell-shaped lid. For those with a sweet tooth, don't forget to finish with "Rozata," a traditional Croatian custard dessert with a caramelised sugar glaze - a taste of heaven on a plate!
Primošten's proximity to the Dalmatian islands adds another layer of allure to this peninsula. Take a day trip to the nearby Kornati Islands, a national park consisting of 89 stunning islands and islets. The Kornati archipelago is a sailor's paradise, with its crystalline waters and numerous coves. If you're not an experienced sailor, guided boat tours are readily available.
Another wonderful day trip is to the idyllic island of Zlarin, known as the "Golden Island" due to its golden, sandy beaches. Zlarin is famous for its history of coral harvesting, and today this can still be seen in their jewellery-making tradition.
Whether you're wandering through the charming old town, basking on the pristine beaches, or exploring the nearby islands, Primošten offers an abundance of enticing experiences. This coastal gem is more than just a tourist destination; it's an authentic slice of Croatian life.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesA trip to the beach is always a must when you holiday with children, and the Raduca beach in Primosten is perfect for the little ones. Be aware - it is a pebble beach, not sand, but beach shoes are readily and cheaply available at little shops along the coast if the kids don’t have suitable footwear. One properly attired, the whole family will enjoy splashing about in the clear, clean water, which features plenty of shallow areas as well as deeper waters - although it should be noted that there is no lifeguard at Raduca Beach. Sun loungers and parasols are available for hire here, and in the summer months there are often attractions such as bouncy castles and trampolines set up on the beach, so the kids can let off some steam while you sit back and enjoy the sea air.
After a paddle and a play, why not treat the children to an ice-cream at one of the many parlours along the promenade that backs this pretty little beach? There are a plethora of quirky shops, bars, restaurants and cafes to enjoy, so no one will be bored - or hungry!
If you fancy the idea of a day trip with the family, you couldn’t be more ideally located. Primosten is situated near several National Parks, including Krka National Park - famous for its breathtaking waterfalls. You can reach Krka by car, or why not book a private one-day boat trip to the park for a real treat that the kids will love! Or how about taking a bus to the nearby town of Split, where you’ll find the famous Bacvice Beach - popular with kids thanks to its long sandy shallows, and with adults thanks to its close proximity to the city centre, where you can grab a beverage or do a spot of shopping when the kids are tired of building sand castles.
Split, Croatia’s second largest city is just a short trip from the picturesque town of Primosten, and is a must-see destination if you are holidaying in the region with your children. The older kids (and Game Of Thrones fans - several scenes from the hit show were filmed on location here!) will enjoy a visit to Diocletian’s Palace - a super fun place to explore, full of twists, turns and stairways, and presided over by a black sphinx perched high in the courtyard. Here you’ll find where Daenerys Targaryen keeps her dragons while she’s in Meereen, and you can even book a Game of Thrones location tour. We suggest arriving early at the palace to miss the crowds!
If the kids are younger and more a fan of dinosaurs than they are dragons, a visit to the dinosaur playground in Zvonac Park should be top of your list. Super popular with children of all ages, the whole family can also enjoy exploring the waterfront promenade as well as enjoying the incredible views.
