Less than 1km from the old Istrian town of Labin, Villa Josipa provides a luxurious experience in wonderfully scenic surroundings. On an estate of almost 20,000 sqm including orchards, a vegetable garden and mini-farm, it’s a place to get back to nature, as well as enjoy some outstanding recreational facilities like a tennis court, 7-hole golf course and private pool, and even its Istrian tavern.

The villa features a large covered terrace next to the pool, which has a dining area and an open stone fireplace for barbecues. The tavern area is also located by the pool and offers dining space for 12 guests, fireplace, TV and music system, and a kitchen, making this a particularly lovely spot to enjoy some Croatian wine and local delicacies.

Featuring artistic works by painters from Labin, the living room is a comfortable, air-conditioned space complete with TV and PlayStation. An adjacent 10-seat dining area and kitchen form part of the same open-plan space. This is equipped with all you need, including a large fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine.

Villa Josipa offers four beautiful double bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor. All have their private bathroom with shower and underfloor heating, and a TV, while two of those on the upper level have access to a spacious terrace.

The medieval town of Labin and the nearby beach resort of Rabac will reward your exploration with plenty to do and see – as a cultural and administrative hub for the region, Labin hosts regular events including outdoor cinema nights, classical concerts and a summer jazz festival.

It’s architecturally rich too, with a good range of restaurants and cute coffee bars. Rabac is very popular as a tourist destination, and its nickname ‘The Pearl of Kvaerner Bay’ gives a hint of its stunning beauty.

The medieval town of Labin, on the eastern side of the Istrian peninsula, may not get the attention of some its west coast counterparts, but those who do visit are sure to be charmed by its laid-back ambience.

The town is located high in the hills above the resort of Rabac, and they make a great combination, with history, excellent Istrian cuisine and relaxing beach life all coming together. Labin is the perfect place to spend a little time on a café terrace, or potter around the town museum, an art gallery or atelier.

Old houses, churches and a few steep hills give it real charm, and its elevated position offers some stunning views down to the bay and across sweeping areas of forest, particularly from the fortress viewpoint where an old cannon points oceanwards. In summer, the local artistic community becomes even more visible, when the Art Republika festival brings theatre and concerts to the streets.

Labin has many restaurants to try, including the sea-view Restaurant Kvaerner in the Old Town which specialises in handmade Istrian pasta. The pretty terrace of Markus is the right spot for seafood and steak, while Velo Café is a favourite and family-friendly place for casual dining on the square. While you’re in town, look out for notable sights like the Teatrino theatre, Sanfior Gate and the Loggia, an eye-catching, 16th-century meeting point.

Neighbouring Rabac, with its pristine beaches of Girandella, St Andrea and Lanterna, is a fishing village which has become the region’s tourist favourite. It’s easy to see the attraction – with clear blue waters, optimal diving conditions and cool open-air bars, it’s the obvious choice for chilled days and nights at the beach when you’re visiting Labin.

Region

Nestled along Croatia’s enchanting Adriatic coastline, Istria welcomes visitors with open arms and a rich tapestry of experiences waiting to be unraveled. Whether you're seeking adventure in nature, indulgence in culinary delights, a glimpse into history and culture, or simply a warm and inviting atmosphere, the peninsula of Istria has it all.

Istria's diverse and unspoiled landscapes will be the first thing to capture your attention! The region is renowned for its lush green hills, rolling vineyards, and enchanting coastline: the stunning scenery is a playground for nature enthusiasts, hikers, and beachgoers alike.

Offering a remarkable 445 kilometres of pristine coastline, including tranquil coves and sandy beaches, visitors can find plenty of secluded spots to soak up the sun. The clear, azure waters of the Adriatic are perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and scuba diving, making it a fantastic choice for those who enjoy an active day of water sports.

Venture inland and you'll discover picturesque villages set amidst rolling hills and verdant forests. Istria is home to over 30 nature reserves - an absolute haven for hikers and cyclists, with an abundance of well-marked trails to explore. The Učka Nature Park, in particular, stands out as a hiking and nature lover's paradise, offering waterfalls, historic villages, and breathtaking panoramic views of Istria's outstanding scenery.

Istria's rich history is woven into the fabric of its towns and cities. An ever popular choice for tourists is the impressive port city of Pula, full of quaint town squares and local restaurants, and home to one of the most well-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world. This ancient arena, known as the Pula Arena, is a testament to Istria's Roman heritage and hosts numerous events, including concerts and film festivals.

The medieval towns of Rovinj and Motovun enchant visitors with their cobbled streets and historic charm. The Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a stunning example of early Christian art and architecture.

Istria's culinary scene is a treat for the taste buds: the region is famous for its truffles, particularly the elusive white truffle, and you can savour dishes infused with this prized delicacy in charming local restaurants across the region. Wine and olive oil lovers will find joy in Istria's vineyards and olive groves, offering tastings and insights into traditional production methods. Fresh seafood, often served with a Mediterranean twist, is a staple that you can enjoy at quaint waterfront eateries along the coastline.

One of the most enduring memories visitors take away from Istria is the warmth of its people. The locals are known for their friendly, welcoming nature and their willingness to share their traditions and stories with tourists. You'll find yourself immersed in the local way of life, whether you're exploring ancient towns or enjoying a meal in a family-run tavern.

Istria is easily accessible, with Pula Airport serving as a major gateway. Once you arrive, navigating the region is a breeze with well-maintained roads connecting major towns and villages. Language barriers are minimal, thanks to the widespread use of English, Italian, and German, alongside the local Croatian language.

Istria’s unique blend of pristine landscapes, rich traditions, and warm-hearted locals creates an experience that will linger in your memories long after you've returned home.

  • The Villa has everything you need

    on 30/08/2023

We have just returned from a wonderful 3 week holiday at Villa Josipa. The Villa has everything you need with lots of wonderful finishing touches - Linen, towels and bath robes, kitchen equipment and air con. As a group of 8 with 4 teenage boys the tennis court was used daily and the equipment provided for both tennis and golf was very good. We walked into Labin square a few times for meals and drinks (15 minutes with some steep hills). The owners put us in touch with a local taxi lady who was very accommodating and we used her for our supermarket shopping and also day trips to Pula and Rabac. A huge thank you to Silvano, Dorina and Toni for being wonderful hosts.

  • Wonderful Villa

    on 30/08/2023

We have just returned from a 3 week holiday in Villa Josipa. We were two families of 4, and the villa was perfect: modern, air con, spotlessly clean, towels, linen, every utensil you need, outside kitchen, extra touches. We walked into Labin (15 mins uphill) to the cafe and restaurants there. Supermarkets a taxi/ drive away. Hosts were fantastic, we even had produce from their orchard. Wonderful Villa. Would. Highly recommend.

  • Beautiful Villa!

    on 29/09/2022

We felt very comfortable in Villa Josipa. The rooms are modern and clean, each with its own bathroom. The equipment in the kitchen is more than perfect. The pool area is beautiful with expansive countryside views. Exclusive use of the tennis and golf practice area for the guests of the villa. Yes, and not forgetting the vegetable garden that always enriched our dinners. The very nice and helpful owners live right next door, but you still have complete privacy. Many restaurants within walking distance in Labin. In short, we had a wonderful week and would love to come back. Thank you for the wonderful time!

  • Amazing stay!

    on 10/09/2022

Amazing stay in Villa Josipa! The villa and the whole garden area including a private tennis court, private infinity pool and golf putting green is in an extremely well kept condition. The owners are very helpful and friendly. One of our best holidays ever! We will book the villa for sure again! Many thanks to the whole Villa Josipa team!

  • TOP!!

    on 30/06/2022

First - the house is at least as beautiful as in the photos! Reception - very nice, friendly and informative. House from outside and inside - beautiful. Top equipped and well kept. Pool and outdoor facilities - top. Location wonderfully quiet, no traffic noise. But in a few minutes on foot in the middle of the beautiful old town. Highly recommended for families or couples.

  • Great villa

    on 29/06/2022

Super nice hosts and a beautiful, very well-kept property with a great villa. We had a great and varied week with lots of activities such as tennis and golf. Riding a bike and just chilling by the pool and cooking a lot. The host even has a vegetable garden that guests can help themselves to - that's something very special.

  • Amazing villa

    on 27/10/2021

Amazing villa. All rooms beautifully designed with comfort in mind. Very modern bathrooms with efficient plumbing. Fully equipped kitchen and BBQ area. Wonderful spa area which we made full use of. Smiling staff and warm welcome. The location is very secluded and private with lovely views over the bay where apparently you can see dolphins. We would love to return.
