Situated on the peaceful island of Šipan, just a short ferry ride from the stunning city of Dubrovnik, this five bedroom villa with its own private pool and two beautiful terraces offers the perfect holiday home for relaxation, walking, cycling and cultural heritage.

Located in the hamlet of Frajga, meaning fruit in Latin, the villa enjoys an elevated position on the southern slopes of the hill. A typical Dalmatian country house, it is set in four thousand square metres of olive groves and garden with lovely views of the surrounding countryside and sea beyond.

The owner has taken great care to ensure that guests have every comfort they need and great attention to detail has been paid to the rooms, which each have their own theme connected to the island. The light and airy living-dining room, decorated in warm tones of carob and citrus, has doors opening on to a wonderful terrace for al-fresco dining and the well equipped kitchen, dedicated to the olive, has everything you need for keen cooks to prepare some local specialities.

The first floor double bedroom, decorated in the theme of grapes, is bright and spacious with its own bathroom and lovely views towards the vineyards and nearby countryside.  Two smaller twins are ideal for any children in the family and are named after Terra, representing the fertile soil of the land and Aqua, the freshness of the nearby sea.

The two master bedrooms on the top floor pay homage to the pomegranate and fig, two of the oldest Mediterranean plants, they each have their own shower room for guests privacy and comfort.

The stunning swimming pool is located alongside the first floor of the house and has beautiful views of the olive groves that surround it. There is a further large terrace with sun-loungers and chairs, where you can relax, read, sample some local wines and enjoy the tranquillity of the island. There is a summer kitchen with a wood fired barbecue so you can prepare your own sea-food specialities from the local fishermen’s catch of the day.

Šipan, well known for its laid back atmosphere, is an ideal island to discover by bike as you ride past olive and fig trees, citrus groves and vineyards or there are walking trails just a short stroll from the villa. The island has a great cultural heritage - many wealthy families from Dubrovnik built summer residences on the island in the fifteenth century, the late Gothic Rector’s Palace is a fine example not to be missed. The historical villages of Suđurađ and the slightly larger Sipanska Luga are within easy access for eating out or further cultural exploration.  A ferry ride from the port of nearby Suđurađ will take you back to the stunning city of Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage site and certainly worthy of a visit.

Beyond the sturdy medieval fortifications is a stunning rocky coastline, dotted with pebbly beaches, while islands cast adrift from mainland Croatia are just ready to be explored.

Reviews

  • A wonderful place to unwind with the family

    Posted by Edward on 02/11/2021

Villa Frajga is a wonderfully restored villa from which to explore the beautiful island of Sipan. It is located in a very peaceful spot with beautiful views across to the sea and just 5 minutes drive from either of the two local villages, some lovely beaches, and a number of restaurants.

Ann Myriam made us feel very welcome and helped with all arrangements - transfers from the airport (which included an exciting trip on a speed boat which the kids loved!), fresh food and wine deliveries, restaurant bookings, and even providing us with some of the islands fascinating history.

The large pool provided hours of entertainment for the kids and was close enough to the outdoor kitchen which meant they could stay in the pool until dinner was served and we could easily keep an eye on them whilst cooking on the BBQ! We were a party of 7 and there was plenty of space to all be together, or to escape quietly to relax with a book and enjoy the views!

During our stay we also hired a small motor boat for the day which provided a great way of exploring the other nearby islands and bays and I would highly recommend. The owners can help with the arrangements of boat hire too!!

    We definitely plan on returning!!

  • We can’t wait to go back!

    Posted by Julie on 22/08/2021

We had the most amazing holiday in this beautiful house on the Island of Sipan. The house was incredible, spotless and well laid out. The vine covered terrace was beautiful and the large pool kept the kids (and adults) happy for hours!
Sipan itself is a picturesque island full of history, with clear water and a handful of excellent restaurants serving great seafood – and all very kid friendly. To top it off Dubrovnik is only 30 mins away by boat.

  • Beautiful stay

    Posted by Anne on 07/08/2020

We spent 14 blissful days at Villa Frajga and did not want to leave. Such a gorgeous gem to find on the idyllic island of Sipan. Hard to believe from landing in Dubrovnik, you are only 1 hour away from this hidden paradise. Everything we wanted was easily provided, and nothing too much trouble. We are already dreaming of our return visit!

  • Charming

It was a nice stay!!! Beautiful view, quiet get-away and unique experience, charming place. All I needed. Thank you so much.

  • Perfect

    Posted by Ana on 25/09/2018

We couldn’t have imagined a more perfect spot for our short family get-away. The peace & quiet, the view (breath-taking!) & the wonderfully decorated villa all contributed to such a relaxing & memorable week-end.
We do hope to be back.
