Location
About the surrounding area of Villa VendiThe island of Vis is particularly beautiful and unspoilt, making it perfect if you just want to relax. You can enjoy quiet beaches and attractive small towns, while boat tours to neighbouring islands are popular too. Vineyards, pine forests and olive groves lend the island a wonderfully natural ambiance that’s hard to resist.
The island’s main town shares its name. It’s also the oldest town, and you will find some interesting ruins and churches. An archaeological museum is worth a visit and includes a considerable collection of impressive Greek sculptures and artefacts. The museum is located in Vis’ Batarija Fort – a significant sight in itself. In summer, there are often events and performances held in the fort’s courtyard.
The other notable town on the island is Komiža, which offers a lovely harbour area and several beaches. Found near the Church of St Mary, also known as Our Lady of the Pirates, pebbly Gusarica Beach is a good place to start. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the centre of town and has decent facilities, including showers, changing rooms and a restaurant. A little further out, there’s the sheltered beach of Kamenice which is also very pleasant thanks to the clear seas and nearby pine groves. A relaxed nudist beach, Novo Pošta, lies a short distance down the coast.
Komiža is a fairly small town but it has a lot to offer. The spectacular setting lends itself to any outdoor activity, whether it’s sailing, swimming or simply dining at one of the many excellent restaurants. If it looks strangely familiar, you may have seen it featured in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again – organised tours can take you to the locations seen in the film.
Gastronomy plays a big part in life on Vis, so be sure to sample some of its treats during your stay. Seafood is big, with octopus and squid regulars on the local menus. The excellent Vuguva wine produced on the island will impress with its honey-like taste, and be sure to leave room for dessert too – tasty hroštule pastries flavoured with liqueur, and traditional cviti biscuits, are among the delicacies to look out for.

Renowned for its unspoiled beaches and a laid-back atmosphere, the island of Vis is a unique destination for those seeking an authentic and peaceful escape from the bustling world. It’s a captivating island of unparalleled natural beauty that offers visitors a delightful blend of outdoor activities and culinary delights. With its stunning landscapes, intriguing historical sites, and a myriad of activities, there is no shortage of things to do and explore on this enchanting island.
The island's striking, rugged coastline is dotted with numerous secluded coves, hidden beaches, and stunning cliffs. Whether you're an adventure seeker, beach lover, or simply looking to unwind, Vis offers it all. Srebrna Beach and Stiniva Cove, with their turquoise waters and white pebble shores, are perfect spots for sunbathing and swimming. For those seeking more seclusion, you can charter a boat to discover the magic of some of the island's hidden, uninhabited coves.
Outdoor enthusiasts have a wealth of activities to keep them busy on the island. Scuba diving is particularly popular here, as the waters around the island are teeming with marine life and underwater caves. Explore shipwrecks, colourful reefs, and ancient relics beneath the surface. For hikers and nature lovers, Vis offers a network of well-marked trails that wind through its lush countryside that lead to spectacular viewpoints. A hike to the peak of Hum Mountain is a rewarding experience, providing panoramic views of the island and its surrounding seas. Cycling is another great way to explore, with numerous trails crisscrossing the island, ranging from leisurely routes to more challenging ones. You can rent bikes locally, and the island's relatively small size makes it easy to cover on two wheels.
While Vis is a captivating destination in itself, it also serves as a great base for exploring the surrounding islands. Take a ferry or a day trip to the nearby islands of Bisevo, Brac, or Hvar, each offering a different taste of Croatian life. On Bisevo, visit the magical Blue Cave, known for its ethereal blue light created by sunlight entering through an underwater opening. Hvar is renowned for its vibrant nightlife, historical sites, and lavender fields, while Brac is famous for its beautiful Zlatni Rat beach - the most photographed beach in Croatia for a reason!
Vis boasts a rich and storied history dating back to the ancient Greeks, and it's home to a variety of historical landmarks. A must-visit site is the ancient Roman thermal baths in the town of Issa, which offer a glimpse into the island’s ancient past. Vis was also a pivotal site during World War II, and you can explore the remnants of the military tunnels, fortifications, and museums dedicated to this period. Fort George, a 200-year-old British fortress, is another historic gem offering breathtaking views of the Adriatic.
Whether you're a history buff, an adventure seeker, a foodie, or simply someone in search of a peaceful getaway, Vis is a captivating destination. Explore its unspoiled landscapes, immerse yourself in its rich history, savour delicious local cuisine, and experience the tranquility and wellbeing that this hidden gem in the Adriatic has to offer. Vis is an oasis of serenity and charm, ready to be discovered by those who seek the road less traveled.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesForget theme parks and high-adrenaline activities – the island of Vis is the ideal place if your kids prefer a relaxed holiday. It’s the authentic character of the place which makes it such a charming choice, and younger visitors are sure to be enchanted.
A ferry ride from Split will take 2.5 hours, taking you straight to the port in the centre of Vis town. The kids will love this town’s idyllic beaches and open green spaces. A visit to the Archaeological Museum at the Batarija Fort is one of the most recommended experiences in Vis, as there are some impressive artefacts to see. The fort itself is something of a hero, as it fended off an Italian invasion during the Battle of Vis in 1866.
The island is full of interesting historic sights, like Tito’s Cave found below Mount Hum, the highest peak on Vis. The former Yugoslav President took refuge from the Nazis in this cave during World War II. There are also lots of reminders of the island’s previous life as a military base, including a network of tunnels.
Even if you don’t check out Tito’s Cave, Mount Hum is well worth visiting, offering wonderful views from the top. But if the kids like it, there’s another impressive cave to seek out on the northern coast of the island. The Queen’s Cave is quite a long and tricky walk east from the village of Okljuchna and is thought to have been the home of Queen Illiryc Teuta. If you can reach it, this spectacular cave is sure to wow curious kids.
Perhaps the best-known attraction on Vis – or technically, on neighbouring islet Biševo – is the amazing Blue Cave. It’s worth taking a boat tour to see it for yourselves, and if you have time you could explore some of Biševo’s lovely beaches as well. If you leave from Komiža, it should only take about 20 minutes to reach the Blue Cave. Your tour might also stop by the Green Cave on the islet of Ravnik, to the south east of Vis, where it should be possible to pop out for a swim.
Finally, there’s something that everyone is sure to appreciate on Vis – the local food. Look out for the tasty fig cake called hib which is available all over the island, and the deep fried, sugary pastry that is hroštule.

Absolutely beautiful
Everything about this villa is absolutely stunning, with 360 beautiful views looking over the sea from one side and into the mountains from the other.
We stayed for a week in July as a family of 7 with 3 teens and 2 grandparents. It was completely perfect for all our ages. Suiting our needs extremely well with a gorgeous pool area and rooftop sun terrace; outdoor seating area complete with dining and sofas. Table tennis and paddle board/ kayak for the ocean. Inside the villa is extremely luxurious with a well equipped kitchen including coffee machine and ice maker, spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds, plus an extensive gym that would easily rival those we all pay membership too!! Toni and his wife were extremely generous, meeting us at the Villa to make sure we had everything we needed and were happy to assist with anything during our stay. Instructions for the Villa were on an iPad ans easy to access providing information about our stay and suggestions for local attractions and boat trips.
We found the supermarket located 5 mins walk away very convenient and well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. The harbour is 7 mins walk and very picturesque, with a range of fantastic restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes. Komiza is wonderful and even in July we felt it wasn’t too busy and a great relaxing location with crystal clear seas and wonderfully kind people.
We had a perfect holiday and can’t recommend this Villa and a trip to Vis highly enough! -

We have just returned from a great stay at Villa Vendi. Villa is beautiful, just like the photos. We really liked Vis, Komiza and surrounding areas. Toni was always super responsive and did everything he could to make stay really enjoyable. Overall, was a great holiday and we hope to go again.

Very good
The villa on the island of Vis is located at the end of a rather steep, one-way street above the beautiful town of Komiža. If you want to spend quality time with your family without tourist complications in Split or the City, the beaches, it was extremely clean, has beautiful decor and is very spacious, with large connecting rooms and very high ceilings. The kitchen is generously stocked even with extras such as coffee makers, blenders, different coffee machines etc. There were six of us and we had a very generous supply of bathroom and beach towels, which we really appreciated.

Highly recommend
Toni's Villa on the island of Vis is placed at the end of a rather steep one way street above the lovely and not very crowded town of Komiža. If you are looking to spend some quality time with your family without the touristy hassle of Split or Hvar, the journey to Vis will be worth every minute and a joy to your soul. The town, beaches and especially Tonî's Villa was exquisitely clean, has a beautiful decor and is very spacious, with big en-suite rooms and very high ceilings. The kitchen is generously stocked even with extra appliances as smoothie makers, mixers, different coffee machines, etc. We were 6 people and had a very generous amount of bath and beach towels, which we really appreciated.
We were among the first guests to stay at the villa so we had some minor issues, i.e. with the pool water, dryer and little things that needed attention, which were responded to and taken care of in exemplary fashion. We would like to point out, that the response time and manner to our concerns couldn't have been faster or more appropriate.
We enjoyed our stay immensely and highly recommend the Toni's Villa as well as the island of Vis. -
We really enjoyed our stay
The house has a beautiful landscape, both on the mountain, in the village and on the sea.
The house is huge with large rooms, amazing bedrooms each with its own bathroom, a very large terrace very well designed and in communication with the house. A very nice swimming pool with a view of the sea and the mountain, vineyard and citrus fields.
