Each of the rooms has sumptuous beds and high-end en-suite shower rooms whilst two bedrooms have a terrace, perfect for an aperitif before heading out to dinner.

Surrounded by high walls to ensure your privacy, the outside courtyard has an amazingly long swimming pool and a lovely terrace area for al-fresco dining by the barbecue. Or just pop inside to the heated circular pool, especially inviting in cooler months, alongside the sauna for an added touch of luxury.

Nearby you can walk or cycle through the dense pine forests, discover pretty beaches and coves or take boat excursions a little further afield. There are numerous walking tours that start from Jelsa and various trekking paths across the island.

The picturesque little town of Vrboska (4km) is just a short drive north. It has many pretty bridges over the narrow fjord, giving it the nickname Little Venice, and some pretty historical features in the village itself as well as a Fisherman’s museum. Just a short walk through the pine forests north of Vrboska brings you to the delightful beach of Soline, very popular with families on the island.  You can also hike between Vrboska and Jelsa, walking through pine forests, secluded coves and some naturist beaches.

Children and adults alike will love the nearby Adventure Park (1km) with paint-balling for all ages, quad biking, archery, bocce, beach volleyball, trampolines and giant boxing amongst other unusual but fun activities. Those who love watersports can find centres in Jelsa or head to Zavala (10km) on the remote southern coast for more action and beautiful bays.

The island of Hvar is yours to discover, whether it is wine-tasting in local vineyards, kayaking at sun-set along the coast, cycling across the countryside or exploring the villages and towns on the island.

Stari-Grad (10km), one of the main ports for arrivals from Split, was founded by the Greeks in 400 BC and is the oldest settlement on the island. Nearby you will find Stari Grad Plain, a cultural landscape dating back from the Greeks in the 4th century BC, now a UNESCO heritage site.  Or head to the glitz and glamour of Hvar Town (30km) which has recently gained a reputation as one of Croatia’s trendiest destinations.

Also, don’t miss Humac (13km), a sixteeth century hamlet without electricity set upon a hilltop on this remote and beautiful part of the island.  Here you will find a restaurant that serves by candle-light with all food cooked on the open-fire, do book well in advance though.

Region

The island of Hvar stands out as one of Croatia's most enchanting destinations - a picturesque paradise that seamlessly combines natural beauty, historical charm and a lively cultural scene. The sun-drenched island’s stunning landscapes provide a picture-perfect backdrop to a whole wealth of
unforgettable experiences.

At the heart of the island is the port town of Hvar, a historic gem known for its well-preserved architecture and timeless allure. Take a wander through the traffic-free labyrinth of narrow streets, where you can soak up the charm of the island. The central square of Hvar Town is a bustling hub surrounded by centuries-old buildings and lively cafes - it’s a popular spot to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine from one of the many cafes and restaurants. The square is also home to the imposing St. Stephen's Cathedral, a beautiful example of Dalmatian Renaissance architecture.

Overlooking the town is the Hvar Fortress, a medieval citadel with a history dating back to the 13th century. The fortress is worthy of a visit for the epic panoramic views that stretch across the town and the Adriatic Sea. The ascent is especially rewarding it at sunset, when you can watch the town's
lights sparkle below.

Heading inland just a few kilometres from Hvar Town, the village of Velo Grablje is famous for its lavender fields. Visit during the summer and you'll be treated to the sight and scent of the vast fields in full bloom. The island is also celebrated for its vineyards and olive groves, producing some of Croatia's best wines and olive oils. Many wineries and oil mills offer tastings and tours, allowing
you to sample these local delights while learning about traditional production methods.

Just a short boat ride from the harbour of Hvar are the Pakleni Islands, a group of islets renowned for their pristine beaches, hidden coves, and emerald sea. The idyllic surroundings offer a tranquil escape from the bustle of the main island, making it a favoured day trip destination. Explore hidden
bays, discover secluded beaches, and enjoy water sports in this unspoiled paradise. The uninhabited resort of Palmižana on the island of Sveti Clement is a particular highlight - a hidden oasis known for its lush botanical gardens and crystal-clear water.

For outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, Hvar's natural beauty provides a picturesque playground. Hvar offers numerous cycling trails for both beginners and experienced riders. The island's diverse terrain is ideal for exploring the charming villages, olive groves, and vineyards on two wheels. Or for a unique perspective of the islands scenic beauty, you can experience the Adriatic up close and paddle along the dramatic coastline in a kayak, discovering coves and sea caves.

Hvar, is a Mediterranean paradise that promises an array of unforgettable experiences. Whether you're wandering through the historic streets of Hvar Town, discovering hidden coves on the Pakleni Islands, or savouring local wines and delicacies, the island offers a blend of cultural exploration, natural beauty, and relaxation that's hard to match.
