Luxury self-catering holiday accommodation in Loch Lomond

There is something so romantic about staying in one of Oliver’s Travels luxury properties overlooking Loch Lomond, a breathtaking freshwater lake that spans over 24 miles in length. Nestled within the stunning landscapes of the Trossachs National Park, the loch is the largest inland stretch of water in Great Britain and a haven for nature enthusiasts, history buffs and adventure seekers.

The surrounding hills and mountains strike a pose, creating a mesmerising backdrop. Standing tall and majestic, is Ben Lomond, the loch's very own celebrity peak. Hiking up ends with a reward of panoramic views that will make your jaw drop. The charming towns and villages that sprinkle the shores of the loch like confetti include Balloch, the southern sweetheart and the gateway to Loch Lomond. It throws open its doors to visitors with the flair of a Scottish welcoming committee. You can take a loch cruise or explore the Balloch Castle Country Park, where 19th-century castles, gardens and woodlands play host to leisurely strolls and family picnics.

Further north, the village of Luss is so well-preserved it is like a postcard got stuck in a time warp. 18th-century cottages line the shores, offering a glimpse into Scotland's architectural wardrobe. The Luss Pier is your ticket to a boat tour extravaganza, discovering islands and hidden coves like a true Scottish pirate. Balmaha's got your back with a gateway to Inchcailloch Island. Burial grounds, scenic trails and centuries of Scottish history await.

Loch Lomond isn't just for romantic strolls. It is a water wonderland with sailing, kayaking and fishing on the agenda. Inchmurrin, the largest inland island in the British Isles, is your tranquil escape. Anglers can fish for salmon, trout and perch, while thrill-seekers can dance with the wind on a windsurfing or waterskiing escapade. Loch Lomond is also a golfer's dream. The Cameron House Golf Course offers views that could distract even the most dedicated golfer. Who can focus on putting when the loch is winking at you?

Loch Lomond isn't just a place, it is a romance novel waiting to be written. Whether you are soaking in the tranquility of the lake, enjoying a delicious waterside meal, taking to the water or unleashing your inner highlander, Loch Lomond captures the essence of Scotland's enchanting landscapes with a touch of luxury and a dash of fun.

Ah, bonnie Scotland! A wild and beautiful part of the world, where you can explore the rugged highlands or enjoy the colour and vibrancy of cultural capitals like Edinburgh and Glasgow.

But how do you know you’re getting the very best out of your trip? That’s where we come in. If you’ve had a browse through our range of luxury cottages and castles in Scotland, you’ll know there’s some great places to stay, but to find all the great things to do, see and eat you’ll need our handy Scotland travel guide  – so read on and enjoy!

Reviews

  • Great stay at Arrochar House

    on 19/10/2023

Great stay at Arrochar House. The house is very well equipped and the attention to detail is excellent. Great location with some lovely walks nearby.

  • Perfect house

    on 02/09/2023

Perfect house for an extended family of 12 from toddler to grandparents plus dog. Despite being close to the A82 there was little traffic noise. The boot/coat room was a blessing in the damp weather, as was the laundry, and the 2 separate sitting areas gave space if some quiet was needed. The garden and hot tub were a hit with the younger family members when weather permitted. The only negative was that no one met us on arrival, as some explanation of entry codes, passwords and the Sonos system would have been helpful.

  • Impressive!

    on 13/08/2023

On arrival we were very impressed with the property. The house and garden is beautiful. BBQ was good quality & the family made excellent use of the hot tub.
The kitchen equipment was good with plenty of washing up liquid, cling film and salt and pepper which made settling in easy.
    Well equipped laundry room.
    Plenty of parking.

  • Stunning

    on 08/05/2023

We had an incredible family weekend at Arrochar House. The house is stunning. It is clean, well equipped and in a fantastic setting. Our party of 12 had plenty of room. Thank you.

  • What a beautiful house!

    on 01/05/2023

We have just returned from Arrochar House. What a beautiful house! Chris the housekeeper was exceptional and explained everything about the house, making us feel welcome. The house was clean and well equipped with everything we needed for a family get together. We have all said that we will be back. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

  • A great second visit!

    on 16/09/2022

This house is ideal for an extended family get together. The hot tub was fantastic and the wood burner at the bottom of the garden was great too.
We had an old Lab and a one year old Beagle who loved the secure garden to run around and explore.
This is the second time we have rented this house and would come back again.

  • Superb

    Created on 06/08/2022

We stayed with our large family of 10 and Arrochar House accommodated with ease. They layout was superb and the house was exceptionally well appointed with everything needed to make an ideal base for a great holiday. We will certainly go back. Superb holiday!

  • Beautiful!

    Created on 27/05/2022

Arrochar is a beautifully appointed house which has everything you need to make it a home from home. The huge walled garden with covered hot tub and BBQ is a great place to relax in privacy and is great if you have a dog as it is completely secure so they can explore all the scents without any worry about them escaping!

  • Stunning

    on 17/02/2020

We had an amazing time at Arrochar House celebrating the Hen. From the initial enquiry we have been so well looked after and any questions were answered quickly! The property itself is stunning, just a shame the weather prevented us from enjoying the gardens. We did manage to make use of the Hot tub, even if it was a brief dook! Can’t wait to visit again.

  • Excellent for family celebrations!

    Created on 22/08/2018

Excellent house for family celebrations. Everything first class, plenty dishes, cutlery etc.. Nice rooms with comfortable beds. We had an 80th Birthday celebration. Everyone enjoyed their time there, especially the hot tub. Lovely garden - very well looked after by David.

  • Great time!

    Created on 14/06/2018

We all had an amazing time in this beautiful house. The weather played a big part in being able to sit outside in the gardens and enjoy the hot tub. The house was well equipped with everything you could hope for. The only small negative would be that given the hot weather the house was very warm, so if a few fans were available that would have helped greatly!

  • Superb family party!

    Created on 18/04/2018

This is in every way a wonderful property and was much appreciated by all of our party (10). We especially liked the large amount of space, the state of the art interiors, electronics, wifi, kitchen equipment and utensils. Also the garden, surrounding woods, and especially the hot tub. Despite the difficulties of two of us not having a car and having to arrive by bus before the others and leaving after them we really appreciated the quiet (except for traffic noise which wasn't too obtrusive) and the loch-side location. I would recommend this to all and would happily book it again another year. There was a very brief problem with the biomass heating for the first day or two in parts of the house but this was soon sorted.
