The Malvern Estate holds a uniquely special location, nestled within140-acres of private countryside in wonderful Worcestershire. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy complete privacy and tranquility within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the foot of Malvern Hills, but still just two and a half hours from the hustle and bustle of London.

There is a selection of excellent pubs both within walking distance and a short drive, and Malvern Spa with its selection of supermarkets, restaurants and theatre is less than a fifteen-minute car journey away.

The Elizabethan hall house, oast houses and old stables have been lovingly modernised and today seamlessly blends its original charm and character with updated facilities and all the amenities a family or group of friends could possibly need for a more than comfortable stay. The estate house can comfortably accommodate up to eighteen guests across ten beautifully appointed bedrooms while there is the potential for two additional children to make use of extra beds.

Set around a central courtyard, the ground floor is home to inviting entertaining spaces which boasts comfy sofas and open fires and comprises of a reception hall, sitting room, dining room, drawing room, and farmhouse kitchen. Upstairs, on the first floor are Tally-ho and Rose, two super-king size bedrooms which share the use of a Jack and Jill bathroom complete with a gorgeous freestanding copper bath tub. This floor also has a family bathroom with bath and separate shower and another WC. Along the corridor to the oast houses are a further two bedrooms, one super-king ‘upstairs downstairs’ Kingfisher suite with en-suite bathroom and the Oast House king suite with a separate sitting room. The Oast House en-suite has a bath and separate shower. There is a further WC in this part of the house.  Up on the second floor are Shangri-la, a beautiful super-king sized room complete with hand painted gold leaf chinoiserie mural, and Fresco with its bespoke magnolia flower fresco mural which can be set up as a twin or super-king room, making it ideal for friends or children sharing. On the second floor is an additional double bedroom (Hazel) with an en-suite bathroom.  The remaining three bedrooms can be found in the adjoining Little Hall and include the Peacock Suite with its double fronted fire that links the bedroom and en-suite bathroom. Peacock has a four-poster super-king sized bed and a huge bathroom with separate walk in shower and a bathtub situated in-front of the fire. A separate WC with hand painted birds and bamboo mural completes this suite. Spire has a super-king sized four-poster bed and an art deco bathroom with separate shower and roll top bath. Wisteria is a king room with a beautiful hand painted mural of wisteria flowers climbing up the walls, it also has double doors out onto its own private deck and an estate view. Completing this room is a large en-suite bathroom with pink marble walk in shower.

Outside guests will never tire of exploring the expansive grounds at the Malvern Estate, whether they choose to enjoy a woodland walk, row across one of the lakes or play a competitive game of tennis.
After a busy day spent exploring your own private idil, the terrace is the perfect spot for the whole group to gather, cook up a storm on the barbecue and enjoy a meal al fresco admiring the un-spoilt valley view. An evening stroll in the gardens at sunset is the perfect time to watch the resident guinea fowl and peacocks return home to their roosting trees, and the wild ducks and mandarins nest up for the night on ‘duck island’.

Owner Profile

Property owners
Ian and Rosanna Horsley

How long have you owned the property?
We bought the estate in July 2017

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
We were looking for a small estate set in beautiful countryside. When we found the Malvern Estate it was love at first sight. The view of the stunning Elizabethan property hit us as soon as we travelled down the driveway, and with its private setting by the lake in its own valley we were hooked. It is a real privilege to be custodians of this very special place.

Do you have a favourite room in the property?

We really struggle to narrow it down. Rosanna loves the Peacock suite in Little Hall for its epic bathroom, bamboo mural loo and custom hand painted four poster bed. Ian’s favourite room is the original Hall house sitting room with its huge open fire and wooden beams. This seems to be where people love to gather for an evening of whisky and putting the world to rights!

For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?
The great outdoors options here are really accessible. Exploring the Estate on one of the many walks available, a good cross country walk to the pub or if it is a nice sunny day we are right on the doorstep of the Malvern Hills. We love a Malvern Hill walk followed by a good cream tea!
Really eat?
When available in season the Estates own Grass Fed Lamb and Hogget should be tried. You can really taste the difference with slowly matured grass fed meat.
Really see?
The wildlife is amazing here, the woodpeckers, muntjac deer, the resident heron, our peacocks and guinea fowl, the wild ducks on the lakes, and even feeding the monster sized carp in the lake! Or just watch our sheep contentedly grazing in the meadows.

What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
Worcestershire is relatively undiscovered and often gets overlooked for other more popular tourist or coastal locations in the UK. There are so many great things to see and do, and you are far less likely to spend you holiday in queues or traffic. It is also easy to get to from many parts of the country. Everyone who comes to stay here, wants to come again.

  • Breath-taking views and relaxing atmosphere

Posted by Paul Wrench on 09/10/2018

It was a perfectly situated expansive home with sweeping views of the lake and woodland and the elevated farmland in the distance. All in all a wonderfully peaceful setting enveloped by idylic countryside. The property feels vast and is finished to the highest standard all round with a lovely homely feel to all areas. Every room that we used was lovely and beautifully tasteful. We found the snug and main lounge area with roaring fireplace and well stocked drinks cabinet a particularly wonderful place to relax after a day traversing the Malvern hills. The local towns and pubs in the Malvern area are full of friendly folk and fabulous food and beers. The Malvern hills are a must do in terms of hilltop wandering and Malvern Estate is the truly perfect setting for being back together and enjoying country living at the highest level after a day out on the walks. Will definitely come back!

  • A peaceful retreat

Posted by Marc Couling on 21/09/2018

Malvern Estate is a beautiful property, with many charming and interesting parts to the house. My favourite thing about Malvern Estate is the outdoors, the remote setting means the fresh air and beautiful countryside are a very welcome change from busy city life. The beautiful Peacock Suite in Little Hall that we stayed in, it was both elegantly decorated and private - a proper retreat.
Walking through the estate fields to the local farm brewery for a couple
of pints was great fun, but the highlight for me was the walk along the
Malvern Hills - challenging but fun walk with some great views along the way.

  • Had a lot of fun

Posted by Ella (age 10) on 14/08/2018

I liked all the different themes and colours of the rooms especially the ones with the roses and the one with the colourful birds.
I liked exploring in the woods, feeding the guineafowl and running down heart attack hill. I also enjoyed hanging out with the dogs. I had fun
exploring inside and outside. Depending on the time of the year, ask if you can go and visit the lambs in the barn or have a picnic underneath the flower trees. This is a good place for children to come and stay as it is fun, entertaining and there is a lot that you can do.

  • Love the house and the animals

Posted by Eva and Bea (5 years old) on 18/04/2018

Eva liked the bath in her room as it was so big and so warm. She also liked the passion fruit she had for breakfast in the kitchen! Bea loved the teddy, which lived on their bed. They both loved feeding the animals more than anything. They also
enjoyed picking up the peacock feathers on a little hunt in the woods.
It was amazing to see the animals and sheeps, and have a picnic, but avoid the sheep poo in the field! We also saw the lambulance driving in the fields as it was lambing time. It was fun!
