Overview

Ideal for Kids Pets Welcome

A breath-taking delight of traditional architecture and vibrant foliage in the stunning, rural environment of Troutbeck Valley, Beatrix Cottage is a luxurious holiday home for 10 lucky guests!

Inside, the décor is as charming and rustic as the exterior, with original wooden beams stretching across the ceiling and a magnificent range cooker in the delightful kitchen. The kitchen is certainly a highlight of the home, with tons of space and a lovely adjoining breakfast table for casual mealtimes. A more formal dining table is in the modern part of the home and includes a vast and beautiful wooden table with 10 luxurious leather seats. The living room is hugely spacious and comfortable, with plenty of chairs and sofas for the whole group to gather together for some quality time around the open fire!

There are five utterly decadent bedrooms in total, each as magnificent as the last! There are two rooms with king-size beds and two with double-beds, as well as a twin room. All five are exquisite! The décor is light and lively, with a recent renovation creating a totally sleek and stylish space in which you can relax and unwind after a day of adventure in the Lake District! The accompanying bathrooms include separate bathtub and showers and the same elegant, contemporary style.

And finally, retreat to your sublime garden on a sunny day to really absorb the peace and tranquillity of the area. Settle around the dining table to enjoy a view of this delightful traditional 17th century home set against the stunning backdrop of the Troutbeck Valley! A large lawn is great for fun and games with the kids, and there’s a second summerhouse tucked away at the far end of it for a real retreat into nature! There’s plenty of room for bike storage so do bring yours along if you’re that way inclined – or, if you’d rather a hike, rest assured that some of the UK’s finest walking terrain begins on our very doorstep.

And what’s more, you’re ideally placed to enjoy the livelier sights of the region, with several country pubs nearby and just a short drive to Ambleside and Windermere.

Beatrix Cottage is in the most tranquil of locations, with the quaint village of Troutbeck Bridge on the doorstep, and the more vibrant villages of Windermere and Ambleside only a very short drive away. You will find many famous Lake District walks on your doorstep, as well as Lakeland pony treks which is a great experience for all the family!

Windermere is England's largest lake, at 10.5 miles long and 219 feet at its deepest point! And unsurprisingly is one of the most famous and popular areas in the whole of the Lake District, with unrivalled hiking, cycling and water-sports on offer, not to mention attractions including crazy golf, climbing, hot air ballooning and orienteering! It is a quaint and lively town with plenty of local shops, a Booths supermarket and the flagship store for Lakeland.

The slightly larger town of Bowness-on-Windermere is also nearby and offers an Information Centre with plenty of useful tips for visitors, as well as a vibrant hub of activity around Bowness Bay, where you can even hire rowing boats.
Ambleside is also a bustling town with a great array of outdoor equipment shops, bookshops, gift shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as a cinema, making it the ideal location to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. With its prime spot between several classic Lake District fells, it is a magnificent base from which to explore the ethereal beauty of this unblemished National Park.

Indeed, it’s what sits just outside of the village that will truly get your heart racing! Something of a mecca for cyclists, walkers and water-sports enthusiasts, the landscapes awaiting you have to be seen to be believed! Leave the car behind and lose yourself in the fresh air! For the true adventurers, unbeatable skiing, climbing and mountain-biking can be found throughout the Park, while more relaxing pursuits including boat hire and golf can be found a stone’s throw away.

Nearby attractions including the Lakes Aquarium, with the UK's largest collection of freshwater fish, the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, where you can enjoy a 3.5-mile steam locomotive trip into the Leven Valley and the delightful World of Beatrix Potter, where the fabulous animals of Beatrix Potter's tales are brought to life in three dimensions! All make for a great day out for all ages and can easily be combined for those short on time thanks to their proximity.

The Lake District is England's largest National Park, with more than 3100km of rights of way, you can walk, cycle and ride yourself silly through this enchanting valley as you marvel at some of the world’s best scenery! Adventure courses, boat hire, all kinds of water-sports and much more ensure you can take the Lakes at your own pace, be that racing down the mountains on a bike, fell-running up them or gliding through them on a Launch, the possibilities are endless!

Carlisle, Leeds and Newcastle airports are all within a 2-hour drive or thereabouts, and there are train stations dotted throughout the National Park, so accessing the house on public transport is certainly possible.
