Situated in the charming Dorset town of Wimborne Minster, this traditional 18th century cottage is the perfect holiday retreat. Set within a walled garden and adjoining the orchard on the Deans Court estate, Stour Valley Cottage offers ample space for six guests to rest and restore, escaping the hustle and bustle of day to day life.

Paired with Meadow Cottage, a similar six-guest property next door, this set up is perfect for two families travelling together, that can enjoy each other’s company, whilst benefiting from the privacy of separate cottages.

This beautiful house has been lovingly restored throughout. Chalk white walls, Farrow & Ball paints and re-upholstered vintage furniture create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, that is incredibly easy to settle in to. Guests can enjoy sweeping views across the Stour Valley, with the rooftops of Wimborne Minster adding to the charming atmosphere. Whether you are curled by the fire in the lounge, preparing food in the kitchen or sipping a glass of wine on the terrace, every aspect of this cottage is relaxing.

Downstairs a modern, fully-equipped, country kitchen is the heart of the home, with a vintage dining table creating an easy and fun space to spend quality time as a family. Guests can visit the Cafe on the estate, and enjoy delicious homemade soups, quiches, cakes and baked goods. The lounge boasts comfortable sofas and an Inglenook fireplace with a wood burner, creating the ultimate cosy ambience, making this cottage perfect even on rainy days!

Throughout the house there are three beautiful bedrooms with linen blinds framing the picturesque meadow views. There is one en-suite, double room on the ground floor, as well as two spacious doubles on the first floor that share a bathroom.

The cottage is just a few-minutes’ walk into Wimborne’s town centre and the rest of Dorset is within easy reach by car, with the stunning Jurassic Coast nearby. Stour Valley Cottage has something for everyone, the perfect base for exploring all that Dorset has to offer.

Pack your bags and fasten your seatbelts, as Oliver's Travels is thrilled to present a dazzling array of luxury holiday properties in the enchanting land of Dorset! A captivating county where time seems to stand still, Mother Nature has outdone herself. Dorset, with the rolling hills of the Dorset Downs and the jaw-dropping Jurassic Coast, is a real-life tapestry of postcard-perfect landscapes, historic landmarks and villages oozing charm in lavish abundance.

The Jurassic Coast is not just a coastline, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Dorset's showstopping features. Stretching an impressive 95 miles from Orcombe Point in East Devon to Old Harry Rocks near Swanage, this coastline presents endless coastal wonders. Dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and beaches boasting ancient fossils, Charmouth and Lyme Regis are the treasure chests for fossil hunters and curious minds alike.

Dorset is also a playground for history buffs, with landmarks like Corfe Castle standing tall and proud. Perched on a hill, this fortress offers far-reaching, breathtaking views. The Cerne Abbas Giant is a colossal chalk figure etched into a hillside near the village of Cerne Abbas, Dorset's own friendly giant, captivating visitors for centuries.

Dorchester, the county town, is a delightful mishmash of Georgian architecture and markets that buzz with life. Thomas Hardy's Cottage, near Dorchester, gives you a peek into the life of the literary legend himself. Bridport, with its bohemian vibes and eclectic street markets, is like the cool kid in the market town crew. Meanwhile, Weymouth's golden sandy beach and bustling harbour are perfect for leisurely strolls and exploring historic Nothe Fort. For a touch of seaside nostalgia, Swanage brings the Victorian pier and a heritage steam railway into the mix.

The Isle of Purbeck is a haven of beauty, featuring Lulworth Cove's sheltered bay and crystal-clear waters. Just around the corner, Durdle Door, a natural limestone arch, sets the stage for coastal walks and views so stunning, they might bring a tear to your eye. For the adventurers among us, the Dorset Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are calling. Hiking trails such as the South West Coast Path and the Wessex Ridgeway offer a rollercoaster ride through diverse scenery, from cliffs to heathlands.

Dorset's culinary scene is a delightful fusion of tradition and modernity. You will savour local produce at farmers' markets, indulge in fresh seafood along the coast and let the county's pubs and tearooms be your warm and welcoming retreat for traditional cream teas or a sip of local ales.

Dorset is an experience that seamlessly blends history, natural beauty and that quintessential British charm. It promises an adventure that captures the very essence of England's southwest.

Reviews

  • Three generations of our family enjoyed a lovely few days

    Created on 26/10/2024

Three generations of our family enjoyed a lovely few days at the Cottage, which is a charming property in an excellent location. We loved the personal touches, such as a jug of fresh flowers left on the dining table, and a bottle of apple juice from the estate's orchard.

  • 100% reccommend a stay here!

    Created on 30/06/2024

Our two families stayed across two cottages for our wedding weekend in June 2024. What an idyllic, beautiful spot. The cottages are amazing, kitted out with everything you need for the weekend. The tea/coffee, biscuits, bread, egg and milk on our arrival was such a wonderful gesture. We spent so much of our weekend outside in the beautiful gardens sitting in the sunshine. Regular visits from Dusty the dog who is such a friendly soul was heartwarming. I would definitely love to return one weekend and reminisce our wedding weekend. 100% reccommend a stay here!

  • Lovely cottage

    Created on 19/01/2024

Lovely cottage to hide from the storms and the floods! Clean warm spacious dog-friendly with a log burner- what more do you need?

  • We are certainly going to book again.

    on 28/06/2022

As four old (literally!) friends, we had a really lovely holiday in Stour Valley Cottage which had been recommended to me. Everything about the cottage, it’s amazing garden and surrounding countryside makes you relax straight away. We even saw a little red deer in the field. Jonathan and the staff were so helpful, leaving us goodies and were there to answer any questions. Once through the imposing estate gates we were in the charming little town of Wimborne with it’s beautiful old Minster. We are certainly going to book again.

  • What a gem

    on 14/03/2022

The cottage looks magical on the website and it’s even more special when you see it for the first time.... The rooms are all a good size ... We all enjoyed using the large bath and having long breakfasts around the spacious dining table. The sitting room has a wood burner and there’s plenty of wood in a nearby outhouse. The windows mainly look over a large field giving you the sense of being in the country rather than a town. Our weekend stay just didn’t feel long enough and we all agreed we felt very much at home and would like to stay again. What a gem of a place.

  • Relaxing retreat!

    on 12/03/2020

Relaxing rural retreat with a touch of quirkiness. Perfect for resetting and getting away from it all and yet so close to the hustle and bustle of Wimborne Town Centre if needed. Thank you so much.

  • Great Place

    Created on 15/02/2019

A great place to stay to get to know Wimborne. Conveniently located and with wonderful views. Everybody was very helpful and friendly – nothing was too much trouble, even a private lesson in how to use Netflix!

  • Exceptional. Thank you to everyone!

    Created on 26/10/2018

A brilliant cottage with a lovely, secure garden, which our 7-month Irish Terrier, Eimear, adored. We were a little embarrassed when she chased Lady Hanham off the premises :-(. Eimear also enjoyed some of the windfalls, as did we - apples for pudding everyday. We have even purchased a copy of the very good apple cookery book in the cottage.
We were lucky to be able to give Eimear her first taste of the sea on the last day of 'summer' at Studland Bay with lots of other dogs and another taste, by way of contrast, at West Bay, where the colours of the cliffs, sand and dog merged together - the perfect camouflage.
A great discovery this time was the 'veg box' from the kitchen garden.

  • Will be booking again

    Created on 26/09/2018

An absolutely delightful and well equipped cottage - the perfect place from which to explore the beautiful Dorset countryside and being only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Wimborne eating out and shopping are easy.

  • We had great fun

    Created on 20/09/2018

This is our second visit to the Cottage so that in itself is a great review. A girls trip in the countryside with a pretty town with lively bars and restaurants just a short walk. Hosts were very friendly and each cottage is supplied with a food hamper .... produce from the Estate.

  • Absolutely lovely
