In Cookham Rise there is a small shopping complex and a great little supermarket called Country Store which stocks most items and has a free car park.
The complex is situated just across the railway line with the car park on the right hand side.  You can buy virtually anything here!
Going back towards The Apple House, from Country Store you will find a fine independent Butchers called Keith Macey’s.  The meat here is very good.  Just along from the butchers is a nice deli selling French meats, pates and cheeses and some bread and wine perfect for evenings in.

Welcome to the magical world of Oliver’s Travels and our collection of fancy cottages, retreats, farmhouses and manor houses nestled in the enchanting landscapes of Berkshire! These gems are sprinkled strategically in historic royal towns or snuggled up close to rivers and lush green spaces, promising you an extraordinary mix of culture, history, fun, adventure and nature.

Berkshire, the whimsical county in Southern England, is where history, breathtaking landscapes and lively communities come together for a joyous rendezvous. Affectionately known as the Royal County of Berkshire, thanks to its royal connections, this place is a treasure trove of attractions, landmarks and a whole bunch of diverse activities.

Now, let's talk about Windsor, the town that is practically wearing the crown with its iconic Windsor Castle. This regal beauty, the oldest and largest inhabited castle globally, oozes charm and has centuries of stories within its walls. You will explore the State Apartments, be awestruck by St. George's Chapel and catch the Changing of the Guard. It is as British as it gets! You will wander through quaint streets, grab a coffee at charming cafes and stroll the delightful Long Walk leading to the Great Park and the statue of King George III. The Savill Garden inside the park is a haven for plant enthusiasts!

The Thames River gracefully winds its way through Berkshire, with towns such as Henley-on-Thames adding extra charm. Just think of the town’s prestigious events, Henley Royal Regatta, the cultural fiesta of The Henley Festival, The Henley Traditional Boat Festival and the Henley Literary Festival. You have riverside walks, boutique shopping, classic English architecture, boat rides and cultural feasts. It is a buffet of delights!

Then there is Reading, a lively hub pulsating with arts and music vibes. The Reading Abbey Ruins, dating back to the 12th century, offer a peek into medieval history. The annual Reading Festival is a music lover's paradise attracting global artists and enthusiastic crowds!

You can venture into the charming villages of Cookham and Bray. Cookham, a tranquil haven with riverside walks and cozy pubs, immortalized by Stanley Spencer's art is a blissful treat while Bray is a gastronomic wonderland with Michelin-starred restaurants, including the famous Fat Duck.

Berkshire's allure goes beyond landmarks, weaving a tapestry of English heritage through charming towns and villages. From the regal splendour of Windsor to the cultural beats of Reading and the quaint charm of villages, Berkshire invites you to dive into its rich blend of history, nature and culture, promising an unforgettable adventure in rural England!

Who is the artist that painted the cow in the kitchen (loved it)?

Just wanted to say WOW, what an amazing property. We had a wonderful stay at The Apple Tree House

  • Great House !

    on 08/07/2016

We rented Apple Tree house for a week away with friends.
What a great house it is.
From the well appointed kitchen, which turned into the 'hub' of the house during the holiday, to the modern and contemporary drawing room, and lovely morning room and snug, the ground floor accomodation was faultless.
The kitchen itself is to die for, with everything available for a high end self caterer to a casual breakfast.
The bedrooms are all finished to a very high standard, most of which were ensuite, if not bathroom adjacent.  Top quality fittings and luxrious finishings made each bathroom special and unique.
There's plenty of outside space, with a rear patio and furniture to while away lazy warm evenings, or a hot sunn afternoon.
    A house well worth considering.

  • Brilliant house for entertaining

    Created on 16/04/2016

I catered for a private party at the week end at The Apple Tree House and I felt that I had to write to say what a pleasure it was to be in your property. I cater throughout the Cotswolds & home counties and I have to say that The Apple Tree House is by far & away one of the best that I have been to.

  • Supberb Location, beautifully furnished

    on 15/01/2016

Our stay at The Apple Tree House was exceptional, myself and my family spent a week over Christmas here – what a perfect place for a wonderful family Christmas, loved by all, especially the dogs! From first contact to departure, the standard and service was above and beyond our expections. We were spoilt for choice with the bedrooms, out of the six exceptionally decorated bedrooms, we chose to stay on the top floor in one of the luxurious suites offering breath-taking views of Cliveden House. The beautiful décor throughout the entire house did not go unnoticed, it was the perfect location, the views overlooking the Berkshire countryside were splendid, watching the horses having their daily exercise was a perfect start to the day. I even managed a New Year’s Day dip in the hot tub, will definitely return again! Congratulations for creating something quite special. A fabulous time was had by all, what fond memories we have

  • Amazing house!

    on 27/10/2015

Wow, what an amazing house. We had such a fun break as a family. The house is fantastic, so comfortable and wonderfully spacious. Look forward to our next visit!

  • WOW !

    on 23/06/2015

We were obviously looking forward to our stay at The Apple Tree, the web site photo's looked amazing, but do not do it justice. The property is simply amazing. The finish is outstanding, the facilities are state of the art and the views are stunning. The local area is absolutely lovely, with great walks and a superb collection of pubs and restaurants. London was only 45mins away for an evening out, and we even ventured into Bray 15 minutes away for a spot of lunch at the HindHead. From the amazing bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen, to the hot tub outside, we couldn't recommend this property more, you will simply love it!

  • Total Luxury - beautiful location

    on 22/06/2015

Don't hesitate to book. A lovely house in a great location. The owners reply quickly to emails and were there to meet us when we arrived. We visited so many places, Legoland, Runneymede, Henley & Ascot – all so easy to get to! The local train station is a small walk away and you are about ½ hour from London. The children loved the garden and trying to spot the neighbouring horses in the field next door was fun! They also enjoyed getting up early to spy on the local wildlife, especially see the jack deer was a bonus! The Hot Tub was most pleasurable particularly on lovely summer day. Should we ever visit the area again, I would definitely stay at The Apple Tree House again, the house is truly beautiful and designed to an extremely high standard.

  • Stunning Property in relaxing settings!

    on 03/04/2015

Just had a wonderful stay at The Apple Tree, we enjoyed ourselves so much that we are booking again next year! The location of the property is idyllic, set in rural countryside with incredible views, which makes you feel completely relaxed, yet it’s great for visiting London and the surrounding tourist attractions (there are so many!) all within easy reach from the property. I would highly recommend the neighbouring pub with its great gourmet food and very friendly atmosphere.
