Back at your historic villa, soak up the charm of your natural surroundings as you relax by the heated swimming pool or prepare feasts in the summer kitchen to serve in the shade of the stone pool house. Play a game of pétanque or simply read a book on a peaceful little terrace accompanied by birdsong from the towering pines and olive trees.
The villa’s interiors are equally enchanting – the large kitchen is the heart of the home with its long wooden table whilst the elegant living room features exposed wood beams, bold artwork and a library of books with dual aspect French windows allowing light to flood in. Downstairs there’s a home-cinema lounge for lazy afternoons escaping the summer sun.
Across the two floors, all five air-conditioned bedrooms feature twin or king-size doubles, TVs, safes and en suite bath or shower rooms, most also with doors opening out to a terrace or garden.
Embrace the nature of this large estate with hiking paths and mountain biking passing vines, orchards, forest, the river and animals roaming free. Beyond the hotel’s domaine, discover yet more wonderful walking and cycling routes, canoe or kayak along the Argens River and visit atmospheric villages such as Flayosc, Tourtour and Lorgues. Don’t miss Lorgues’ bustling Tuesday morning market, one of the largest in the Var region.
If you wish to explore further afield, Lac de Sainte-Croix and the incredible Verdon Natural Park are to the north or you can venture in the other direction towards the French Riviera coast. Dine out in Saint-Tropez, relax on the beaches of Sainte-Maxime, partake in watersports in Fréjus or stroll along La Croisette in Cannes, all wonderful days out in this alluring part of southern France.

About the surrounding area of Villa L'Oree Du ParadisSurrounded by nature, Villa L'Orée Du Paradis is located within the large domaine of a 5-star Relais & Châteaux hotel just outside the Provençal village of Lorgues. Toulon Hyères (75km) and Nice (92km) are the nearest airports whilst direct trains from Paris (or via Marseille/ Saint-Raphaël) arrive at nearby Les Arcs-Draguignan (16km).
Driving along the forest road, the main part of the hotel is less than five minutes away. This prestigious establishment has a fine reputation for its wine and gastronomy with excellent options for fine dining – a summer terrace restaurant overlooking olive trees, an upmarket bistro and the Michelin starred Le Jardin de Berne. Arrange a cellar tour and wine-tasting of the estate’s highly regarded Côtes-de-Provence white and rosé wines. The château’s olive oil can also be purchased on site.
Guests have complimentary access to the hotel’s two outdoor swimming pools, fitness room and tennis court whilst spa treatments and cookery lessons can be arranged for a supplement. Nature lovers will adore exploring the vast estate with its hiking and biking routes passing vines, farmland, roaming animals, olive trees, orchards and the river.
Beyond the hotel’s domaine, discover yet more cycling and walking opportunities as well as river-based watersports along the Argens River. Outdoor adventurists will also appreciate being just an hour from Lac de Sainte-Croix and the edge of the Verdon Natural Park.
Spend time in the charming local village of Lorgues (3km) with its historic lanes, pretty fountains and wonderful Tuesday morning market, one of the largest in the Var region. Other lovely villages close by include Flayosc, Tourtour and Salernes or venture further south through the Maures hills towards La Garde-Freinet (32km), set amongst the chestnut forests, and flower-filled Grimaud (42km) with sweeping coastal views.
Indeed, the allure of the French Riviera awaits with Saint-Tropez (53km) or Cannes (75km) both just over an hour away. Slightly closer is family-friendly Sainte-Maxime (44km) with its glorious beaches and boat trips as well as the Côte d’Azur towns Fréjus (41km) and Saint-Raphaël (43km).
In the other direction, Aix-en-Provence (99km) is less than a 90-minute drive whilst further Mediterranean gems to consider include Bandol (91km) and Cassis (98km), both seaside resorts famed for their beauty, authentic charm, coastal walking trails and vineyards.

Best Suited For: All AgesVilla L'Orée Du Paradis welcomes families – a cot and highchair can be requested and older children can make the most of the home-cinema lounge, pétanque court and heated swimming pool. Guests also have access to the hotel’s two outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts, not to mention the wonderful hiking and biking opportunities across the hotel’s vast domaine.
Seasonal outdoor adventures across the region include horse-riding and cycling as well as canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding along the Argens River (or further afield in the Verdon Natural Park and Lac de Sainte-Croix).
Nearby Provence Aventure offers tree-top trails and other activities by the river whilst Aoubré l'Aventure Nature, around half an hour features play areas, tree-top nets, more trails, nature walks (with a butterfly zone) and animals. ZooParc Du Cannet Des Maures is around 18km away by car.
If you wish to venture to the French Riviera coast then consider family-friendly Sainte-Maxime with its fantastic beaches, watersports, waterpark, mini-golf, accrobranche and boat trips (including ferries to Saint-Tropez). The sandy beaches and sporting activities of Fréjus may also appeal or drive a little further east towards the palm-fringed shores of Cannes, just over an hour away.
