Maison Illusion welcomes 8 guests in wonderfully peaceful surroundings. It’s hard to believe that this home was once where the estate’s sheep were held – more recently it has undergone a sensitive renovation retaining an abundance of rustic charm alongside attractive furnishings and features.
The wood-beamed lounge and dining room exudes such a relaxing ambience with dual aspect French windows opening out to the poolside terrace alongside an elegant light-filled kitchen and breakfast bar. The single-storey villa has three gorgeous bedrooms with tomette tiled flooring and en suite bath/shower rooms. The fourth bedroom can be found in a pretty guesthouse separate to the main house.

Maison Illusion enjoys a privileged setting within the estate of a 5* Relais & Châteaux hotel close to the bustling Provençal village of Lorgues. Lorgues is in the Var region of France, around a 45-minute drive to the Mediterranean coast.
If flying, Toulon Hyères Airport (75km) and Nice (92km) are the nearest airports whilst trains direct from Paris (or via Marseille/ Saint-Raphaël) arrive at Les Arcs-Draguignan (16km).
The highly regarded hotel, known for its gastronomy and wine, is less than a 5-minute drive away. You can use the two outdoor swimming pools at the hotel as well as its tennis courts and fitness room. There is also the option to book spa treatments and massages, cookery lessons, vineyard tours and wine-tasting at an extra cost. Across the hotel’s vast natural estate, discover hiking and mountain biking routes as you pass vineyards, woodland, the river and roaming animals – bike hire can be arranged via the hotel.
The hotel features various options for fine dining including a Michelin starred restaurant, a summer restaurant with a terrace overlooking the vineyards and an upmarket family bistro – in all cases, book well ahead and check opening days/times in advance. In the local region, experience the beautiful landscapes on horseback, come across wonderful cycling and walking trails and look out for canoeing, kayaking and other watersports on the Argens River. It is also worth noting that Lac de Sainte-Croix is around an hour away, alongside the incredible landscapes of the Verdon Natural Park, a paradise for outdoor adventurists.
The atmospheric village of Lorgues is just 3km by car, especially loved for its vibrant Tuesday morning market, one of the largest in the Var region. There are so many other pretty Provençal villages to visit such as Salernes, Tourtour and Flayosc, all reached within a 15-minute drive.
A little further afield, drive through the oak and chestnut forests to the gorgeous villages of La Garde-Freinet (32km) and Grimaud (42km). Soon you will be approaching the French Riviera coast whether pottering around the canals of Port-Grimaud or experiencing the allure of Saint-Tropez (53km). On the other side of Saint-Tropez bay is Sainte-Maxime (44km), a family-friendly seaside town with great beaches, watersports and boat trips.
Heading further east along the French Riviera, both Mediterranean towns of Saint-Raphaël (43km) and historic Fréjus (41km) are less than an hour away or continue towards Cannes (75km). In the other direction, wine-lovers will appreciate the vineyards near the charming Côte d’Azur town of Bandol (92km) as well as Cassis (96km), a delightful former fishing village loved for its wine, also the gateway to the Calanques National Park.
