The Region
The Troia Peninsula is one of the most beautiful coastlines of Portugal, with a 13 km stretch of pristine sands, crystal clear waters and pine forested sand dunes. Reachableby ferry from Setubal, the pristine setting of the Tróia Peninsula is unquestionably one of Portugal’s best-kept secrets.
Sheltered by mountains, the Troia Peninsula enjoys a mild microclimate. The Reserva Natural do Estuario do Sado covers part of the peninsula and is a good place to go birdwatching. The waters around the peninsula are home to a school of bottlenose dolphins. Dolphin-watching trips leave from the marina, or you may even spot them gambolling in the surf on the ferry trip across the estuary.
