Villa des Impressionnistes is located in the countryside only 2km from the pretty village of Eygalières, around 30km south of Avignon. This is a wonderful base for experiencing the beauty of Les Alpilles Natural Regional Park as well as other captivating parts of Provence.
The main entrance gate is set just off the main road leading to the village – within a 2km drive you could be soaking up the Provençal charm of Eygalières with its beautiful old houses, little shops, café terraces and restaurants including the Michelin starred Maison Hache. Climb the hill towards the top of the village and admire stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. The Friday morning market is the highlight of the week and a lovely way to re-stock your kitchen or buy gifts to take home.
There are larger supermarkets and other useful amenities in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (11km), a bustling town loved for its art galleries, Van Gogh heritage trail and more upmarket restaurants. Saint-Rémy’s vibrant Wednesday morning attracts visitors from across the region whilst there are other atmospheric markets in places such as Maussane-les-Alpilles (17km), Fontvieille (26km) and Avignon of course.
Meanwhile, Les Alpilles Natural Regional Park offers opportunities for walking, hiking, cycling and mountain biking or tour the landscapes on horseback. Discover wine-tasting opportunities near Saint-Rémy or further afield across the Rhône valley and Luberon vineyards. Meanwhile, canoeing and kayaking along the Sorgue River is a special experience – paddle as far as the enchanting town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (26km).
