This charming house in Provence offers everything you need for a relaxed holiday in Les Alpilles, only 2km from the picture-perfect village of Eygalières.
Maison Louise sleeps up to six guests with its three bedrooms upstairs (two doubles and a twin) and it is air-conditioned throughout. Downstairs, you will find an inviting lounge and dining room with arched windows leading to the terrace alongside a traditional, well-equipped kitchen. Features across the house include a TV and DVD player and a Sony music system for cosy time indoors.
That said, it’s most likely the gardens and swimming pool that will captivate you the most. The 10m long swimming pool is perfect for warm summer days surrounded by wild grounds of trees so typical of this part of Provence. Dine al-fresco beneath the shade, then sit back with a coffee or glass of local wine with such a pretty outlook from your patio.
Head into Eygalières to soak up its enchanting ambience, dine out in one of its many restaurants (from relaxed café-bars to fine dining establishments) and visit its little market on a Friday morning. No wonder a small handful of A-list celebrities have purchased properties here. Stroll up to the top of the hill for glorious views of the landscapes around you.
Spend time in nearby Saint-Rémy to follow the footsteps of Van Gogh and appreciate its artistic atmosphere or simply experience its vibrant market on a Wednesday morning. Idyllic Les Baux-de-Provence is within easy reach, surrounded by wonderful scenery of olive groves and forests. You can tell this is a popular region with walkers and cyclists with lanes passing beautiful countryside of vineyards, olive trees, orchards and more.
Other fantastic days out include Arles, the gateway to the Camargue, and the small city of Avignon with its UNESCO World Heritage sites. You are also well located for venturing into the Luberon with its iconic perched villages, pretty markets, enticing restaurants and AOC wineries, yet another incredible region of Provence.

Maison Louise is in the Alpilles Regional Natural Park just outside the picture-perfect village of Eygalières, ideal for visiting artistic Saint-Rémy, idyllic Les Baux-de-Provence and the small historic city of Avignon.
Eygalières (2km) has gained a reputation for its charm and beauty, so much so that a small handful of A-list celebrities have purchased properties here to escape the French Riviera paparazzi. Dine out in one of the village restaurants whether you are seeking a relaxed bistro or fine dining at the Michelin starred establishment, stock up in the grocery store and soak up the ambience of the Friday morning market. Walk up to the top of the hill for wonderful views of Les Alpilles landscapes and beyond.
The village is especially popular with cyclists who can make the most of the country roads around the village passing vineyards, orchards and olive groves whilst it’s also a good base for visiting the cycling routes of the Luberon to the east. Furthermore, there are plenty of walking, hiking, horse-riding and pony trekking opportunities here as well as rock-climbing and golf.
The vibrant Wednesday morning market in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (12km) is another must-see – head there early before the summer crowds. On any day of the week it’s an attractive town to visit with its art galleries, restaurants and cafes scattered across its cobbled lanes as well as the Van Gogh trail which ends at Monastery Saint-Paul de Mausole where the Dutch artist spent the final years of his life.
Elsewhere in Les Alpilles, visit the hilltop village and château of Les Baux-de-Provence (23km), one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’, enjoy lunch out in the olive-producing Provençal village of Maussane-les-Alpilles (20km) and embrace the authenticity of Fontvieille (28km). Further south, Van Gogh’s beloved Arles (40km), famous for its Roman sites, is another fantastic day out and the gateway to the captivating Camargue.
The iconic perched villages of the Luberon also await such as Ménerbes (30km), Gordes (32km) and Bonnieux (40km), as do the markets of Cavaillon (15km) and Apt (48km) – look out for summer melons, sweet cherries, strawberries, candied fruit and a wealth of other seasonal delights.
The markets in the small city of Avignon (30km) are also sure to impress, as will the two UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Palais des Papes and Pont d’Avignon.
