We raised over £21,000 for Go Beyond charity

2016 was a year of triumph for the Oliver’s Travels team. But, one of our favourite highlights from the year was working alongside Go Beyond (formerly CHICKS). We began our Book a Break, Give a Break campaign in December and the results have been outstanding.

For every booking made during December and January 2017, we made a donation to Go Beyond. Our target was £15,000 – to cover the cost of a week’s retreat for 16 children. The target was a tall order, but we’re not one to shy away from a challenge.

As the campaign came to a close on January 31st, our final total raised was £21,686 (44% above target). Of course, exceeding our target was incredible, but knowing this money will go towards a genuine, meaningful cause means the world. For many of the children, it will be their first real holiday or break away from home – think of all those smiling faces!!

The support we received throughout has been absolutely wonderful, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed – we were in the top 1% donors on JustGiving in December and January!! We can’t say thank you enough to those who booked and supported the campaign, the CHICKS team are equally as thrilled – Rob Gofton, CEO, had this to say:

“We are extremely proud of our partnership with Oliver’s Travels. The funds that they have donated to Go Beyond as part of their Book a Break, Give a Break campaign has been simply fantastic and will enable so many more disadvantaged children to come to Go Beyond this year on what may be their first-ever holiday or break away from home. It is saddening to think that in the UK today there are so many children who face significant challenges in their home lives and who never get any respite. They may be living in poverty, or victims of neglect or abuse or are young carers for sick or disabled family members. The one thing they all have in common is that, without Go Beyond, they wouldn’t have the chance to enjoy a break away in the countryside where they can relax, make new friends, try new activities and build some really positive childhood memories. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has helped make the ‘Book a Beak, Give a Break’ campaign such a huge success. It really will make a huge difference and will help transform so many more children’s lives this year. Thank you so much, Oliver’s Travels!.”

We’re so proud to be a part of something so special and we can’t wait to pay the good work forward –  the Oliver’s Travels team will be joining Go Beyond this April to muck in with their retreat, so be sure to look out for the pictures across our social channels.

If you know a child aged 8-15 who could benefit from a Go Beyond break, refer them! Whether they’re living in poverty, young carers, or subject to abuse that causes them to have a hard time at home, Go Beyond is here to help. All you need to do is complete the referral form and you could make a massive difference!
