Villa del Mar is a relaxing holiday by the sea is the order of the day, a stay at the luxurious Villa del Mar will tick all the boxes. Situated at the top of a hill in the stunning San Jaime region, overlooking the glittering ocean and celebrated Son Bou beach, this beautiful four-bedroom villa is the ultimate island accommodation. Modern and stylish throughout, Villa del Mar features a light, fresh decor of white and neutral shades, accented with pretty light woods and soft turquoise furnishings. There are sumptuous sofas to relax on and a flat-screen satellite TV for your entertainment - all in all, the perfect space for cosying up for a family film night or enjoying a lazy morning. Floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors showcase those spectacular ocean views and provide guests with easy access to the villa's fully furnished alfresco dining terrace.
The villa features an equally elegant dining and kitchen space, with modern and stylish furniture and appliances that will cater to your every need during your stay. Amenities include an oven and electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee maker and dishwasher, plenty of cookware, crockery and utensils. The villa also has a washing machine, perfect for those who want to pack a little lighter and save some room in their luggage for those all-important souvenirs.
Villa del Mar's elegant and stylish design is carried through into its spacious bedrooms, with three doubles on the ground floor. Each room has cosy beds for a restful night's sleep and beautifully crafted furniture. Two of the ground-floor bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, and there is a third separate bathroom for added convenience. The villa's first floor is home to a master suite featuring a large double bed and an en suite bathroom. The views from here are breathtaking, and guests can step out onto a delightfully furnished terrace to enjoy them to the fullest - it's the perfect spot for a morning cuppa or a relaxing nightcap.
Villa del Mar features an outdoor dining terrace and barbecue, ideal for enjoying alfresco family meals, and a large private pool surrounded by loungers. Guests staying at the villa will spend many relaxing hours taking in the incredible views, cooling off in the water, or reclining with a good book and a delicious drink in this little slice of Menorcan heaven.
What you should know…
- Due to the villa’s location and the many steps that access the property, it isn’t suitable for those with limited mobility and could prove difficult for older guests or young children
- The nearest beach of Son Bou, shops and restaurants are around 1km away and are more easily accessible if you make use of a car during your stay
- Please be aware that the Western side of Son Bou beach can be frequented by naturists

About the surrounding area of Villa del MarVilla del Mar’s prime hilltop location offers guests the very best panoramic sea views, with Son Bou beach and the town centre around 1km away and accessible by steps. It’s worth noting that the hill is quite pronounced and could prove extremely daunting for children - especially in the heat - so a car is recommended to enjoy your surroundings to the fullest.
Son Bou beach is one of the longest stretches of sand on the island. It features elevated timber walkways over the dunes that provide easy access for pushchairs, prams and wheelchairs, making it popular with visitors with small children and those with limited mobility. Even though the beach can get busy during the summer months and does have areas that naturists frequent, there’s enough space that it should be easy to find a quiet spot to set up for the day and enjoy the clear, shallow waters and soft sands. You’ll find plenty of family-friendly amenities here, such as lots of on-duty lifeguards, a first-aid post, a sun lounger and parasol hire, and a wide range of water sports activities that the whole family can enjoy.
You’ll find Club San Jaime near Son Bou beach, which is open from late morning until early evening and features some exciting water slides that the kids (and the adults!) will enjoy. Oliver recommends spending an hour or so here on a hot day. It’s great fun and very reasonably priced.
If you head into the centre of Son Bou, you’ll find several good supermarkets, ideal for those who are self-catering, as well as plenty of places to buy well-priced trinkets and souvenirs. There are also ATMs, a good taxi rank, and an excellent bus service available if you want to travel a little further afield to Santo Tomas, which is also accessible along the coastal path if you fancy the walk. Santo Tomas is a slightly quieter resort than Son Bou, and this beautiful village is popular with families with young children. The resort is a nature-lovers paradise that features gorgeous remote beaches, countryside walks and cycling tracks - ideal for those who want to get away from it all and enjoy all of the beauty and peace this island offers.

THE REGION
The resort of Son Bou in the municipality of Alaior, on the south coast of Menorca, is renowned for having the biggest and probably best beach on the island. The resort is located around 20 kilometres from the international airport at Mahon.
Son Bou is a well-developed area containing many restaurants offering a good range of British, Indian, Chinese and Mediterranean dishes, as well as numerous bars, some of which are themed to help entertain young ones.
While the resort is very popular for families, the sheer size of the beach makes it easy for those who prefer to avoid the little ones to find their ideal spots! There is an abundance of natural sand dunes that make a very pleasant backdrop.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesNot the most easily accessible property on foot, Villa del Mar is best suited to families with a car. However, older kids should have fewer problems with the many steps that access the property and lead to the beach and town. The villa has four double bedrooms, but for children who want to sleep in a ‘big bed’ or siblings who are happy to share, this can all make up part of the holiday adventure. There are plenty of entertaining extras here, including satellite TV, a games console and a private pool that the kids will surely enjoy. It’s worth noting that the walkway around the pool is narrow in places, so younger children will need to be well supervised, but it is easily accessible by steps, so there are no worries about the little ones having to use a ladder to get in and out.
All kids love a day at the beach, and Son Bou’s popular beach has plenty to offer families with children and is considered one of the best in Menorca for kids. Although the beach can get busy and has areas that welcome naturists, it’s large enough that you should have no problem finding your own space to play and relax in private. The waters here are clear and shallow - perfect for paddling and snorkelling, and the addition of lifeguards and a first aid post add peace of mind to parents.
There are loads of exciting sporting activities available in Son Bou that the whole family will enjoy, including bicycle hire so that you can enjoy the many nature trails and horseback riding experiences that allow the whole family to enjoy the spectacular views along the coast in a relaxing and unique way. Son Bou is also home to a scuba diving centre that caters to family groups, where guides provide a safe and fun experience, introducing kids and adults alike to the marine fauna of Menorca.
