Binimasso Menorca has been beautifully renovated yet it retains all the charm of the old country fincas of Menorca. Surrounding the finca is an incredible Mediterranean garden which is wonderfully maintained. The finca offers a fabulous warm ambience and is open plan in design. It boasts such warm colours throughout which all contrast beautifully with the ancient rich wood beams. You will discover plenty of arches which are typical of this architecture. The main living space features a gorgeous living area where sumptuous sofas sit in front of a statement fireplace. The dining area is very elegant with lovely lighting overhead. This then sweeps around to the grand staircase and welcoming entrance hall. Colourful rugs adorn the beautiful tiled floors. The chef’s dream of a kitchen is another lovely space all in mossy green and featuring modern units. Huge glass doors open to the shaded terrace for alfresco dining.

The villa boasts a total of six double bedrooms and four bathrooms. The grand staircase, decorated with pretty tiles, takes you to five of the bedrooms. Each of the bedrooms enjoys its own style, most with dazzling white walls but all with gorgeous colour pops. The soft furnishings and accessories are beautiful. Similarly, the bathrooms also enjoy colour as well as outstanding fixtures and fittings. Also on the first floor is a second spacious living room. It is furnished with wonderfully comfortable sofas and traditional wooden furniture. It features another lovely fire and has access to a stunning furnished terrace where guests can enjoy the magical scenery.

The ground floor terrace surrounds the villa and offers exceptional alfresco dining and lounging. The swimming pool is absolutely gorgeous with its water feature. This gorgeous finca is situated in pretty countryside, very close to the villages of Ferreries and Cala Galdana. The villa is 36km from the airport which takes around 45 minutes in light traffic. Cala Galdana is a fabulous destination for families or groups of friends looking for a peaceful area with excellent amenities. It is a very beautiful area at the base of the Algendar Gorge. The Algendar River divides Cala Galdana with the west side being known as Serpentona. The Serpentona district offers a much wider selection of restaurants, bars, shops and it also boasts a small marina. Cala Galdana’s beach is spectacular, a large shell shaped, white golden sanded beach with shallow turquoise water. Kayaking, paddle boats and stand up pedal boards are available for hire. Some of the island’s most idyllic beaches are within walking distance including East Cala Mitjana, Cala Trebaluger, West Cala Macarella, Macarelleta and Cala en Turqueta.

Very close to the villa is the pretty whitewashed town of Ferreries. It dates from the 13th century although the main church of Saint Bartholomew was built in the 18th century. Ferreries is an important industrial town for shoes and furniture and boasts a busy Saturday morning market in the Plaza Espana. You can shop for homemade produce, cheese, cold meat specialities, spicy local sausage, pastries, cakes, jams and honey. There are also fabulous handicrafts such as macrame, etched glass, leatherwork and the famous abarca sandals. The fair enjoys the sounds of island music and folklore dance so it is a lovely excursion. Ferreries boasts good tapas bars, charming boutiques, jewellery shops, leather shops and Mascaro, an international shoe maker. Most of the factories sell direct to the public.

This area surrounding Binimasso Menorca is sprinkled with historical monuments and traces of the island’s long history. You will discover talaiots, ancient fortresses which were built around 3000 years ago for defence. The surrounding beautiful countryside features many rural paths, wonderful woods and beautiful valleys and gorges. Also not far away is the gorgeous Bini Gaus Beach and an ancient cave the size of a cathedral. It can be accessed on foot from the top of the hill above the beach.

Santa Tomas is a delightful beach resort with an excellent beach, some very good restaurants, fabulous bars and clubs and Hawaiian style beach bars. You can enjoy Pomada’s watching the sun go down. They are made with Menorca’s own Xoriguer sloe gin, lemon Fanta, ice and lemon. The island’s coastal path Cami De Cavalls is a total wonder with access to beautiful sandy beaches, rocky diving pools and reefs resplendent with sea life.

One of Menorca’s older areas, Son Bou enjoys clubs, bars, swimming pools, restaurants and a golden stretch of sand.

Ciutedella is on the west coast and is known as ‘Vella I Belli’ (‘Old and Beautiful’). It is Menorca’s second city with a picturesque port and an engaging old quarter lined with grand gold-tinged buildings. The medieval streets are filled with palaces, churches and fortresses as well as wonderful restaurants and bars. Placa d’es Born is one of the most picturesque squares in Ciutedella. It is a delight to explore. Waterside dining can be found at the port. If you get there early enough you can watch the fishermen bringing in the local catch of the day. You can also catch a ferry from here to Alcudia in Mallorca. Ciutedella celebrates its local festival on 23 and 24 June each year and the party is one of the most spectacular festivals in Menorca.

The island’s picturesque capital Mahon is a lively city rich in history, culture and entertainment. Close to the Placa Espanya is the pretty 18th century Gothic Carme church. The 18th century Xoriguer Gin Distillery is definitely worth a visit and there are many cute shops selling leather, pottery and clothes. The early morning fish market is fascinating to walk through with its huge piles of colourful fish. Mahon is well known for its upmarket nightlife and waterfront bars and clubs.

THE REGION

The mellow island of Menorca drums to a slower beat than siblings Mallorca and Ibiza, and therefore perfect if you’re looking for a holiday of rest and relaxation. The easternmost Balearic Island is lined by some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean: long swathes of powder-fine sand give way to rocky calas (bays) lapped by pale blue waters.

While you’re enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Menorca you may well want to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we’ve put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
