THE REGION

The quiet and idyllic resort of Binibeca is a very popular smaller resort on the beautiful south coast of Menorca and is a perfect choice for holidaymakers wanting to escape the noise and crowds of other more developed areas. You will not find any skyline-destroying hotels or large holiday complexes here, most accommodations being in private villas and apartments.

Today, Binibeca stretches 3 km along the coast and includes the original ‘Binibèquer Vell’, or an old portion, as well as the new portion of ‘Binibèquer Nou’- a natural progression with many of the homes and villas in keeping with the original design. At the very eastern point of Binibeca, you will also find Cala Torret, a small village which feels separate but is actually part of it.

The island of Menorca is a fantastic choice for a family holiday - there's a great blend of adventure and relaxation. Binibeca Vell is bound to capture kids' hearts, and the proximity to the sea is bound to be popular with little ones and teenagers alike. At Binibeca beach, the water is shallow and warm for kids to swim in. They're bound to love snorkelling and kayaking here.

The proximity to Binibeca beach is popular for families travelling with kids - they'll adore swimming and snorkelling in the warm, shallow sea and building sandcastles. However, there are so many beaches on the island they could try a different one every day if they like - the Calas Coves are bound to take their breath away. A one-hour boat trip from Mao harbour is a great activity for children of all ages - some boats have glass bottoms, so kids can observe the marine life and exotic fish beneath the sea. 

Splash Sur, the biggest water park on Menorca makes a fantastic day out for little ones and teenagers alike. Thrillseekers will have a great time on the black hole drop or the exciting Kamikaze ride, while younger children can play in the shallow activity pool complete with water jets, fountains and mini slides. Floating down the lazy river in a rubber ring is great fun for the whole family and there's a pirate ship with water cannons. 

For rainy days, try an indoor play park or adventure playground. Botipark in Saint Luis has inflatables galore and great soft play for under-11s. Alternatively, inside Castillo Menorca there are plenty of zip lines, climbing frames and trampolines. There is also a swimming pool and sandpits. Seeing as the playground is located inside a shopping centre, adults can indulge in a little retail therapy while the kids have fun. 

Finally, there are plenty of opportunities to get up close to wildlife and nature on Menorca. Horse riding is a beloved pastime for locals - the coastal path around the island is called Camide Cavalls, which means 'Way of the Horses'. Children can get an insight into riding on a horseback trail, visit the indigenous Menorquin horses or go on a horse and carriage ride around the island trails. The Jeep Safari offers a unique insight into the island's flora and fauna, all from the thrill of a 4x4.
