THE REGION

The quiet and idyllic resort of Binibeca is a very popular smaller resort on the beautiful south coast of Menorca and is a perfect choice for holidaymakers wanting to escape the noise and crowds of other more developed areas. You will not find any skyline-destroying hotels or large holiday complexes here, most accommodations being in private villas and apartments.

Today, Binibeca stretches 3 km along the coast and includes the original ‘Binibèquer Vell’, or an old portion, as well as the new portion of ‘Binibèquer Nou’- a natural progression with many of the homes and villas in keeping with the original design. At the very eastern point of Binibeca, you will also find Cala Torret, a small village which feels separate but is actually part of it.

Menorca is a fail-safe choice for a family holiday. Kids will love being so close to the beach, and they'll have a great time trying out the rooftop jacuzzi. The villa has lots of space for children to relax and play, especially on the expansive lawn. Additionally, Binibeca Beach is ideal for new swimmers as the bay is warm and shallow. A beach day is always a popular idea with kids - they'll love snorkelling around the coves, building sandcastles or strolling along the powdery white sand.


The Calas Coves are also popular with families travelling with children - the lapis-blue water is stunning. Alternatively, take a drive to Cala d'Algaiarens in the north of the island, with its silky white sand and its own cave. The best spot is behind the main beach, shaded by pine trees. 


Aquaparks are a quintessential Balearic island activity - close to the villa you will find the largest on Menorca, Splash Sur. This water park has something for children of all ages and swimming abilities. Thrillseekers will love the black hole drop or the Kamikaze ride, while little ones have fun in the shallow activity pool with water jets, fountains and mini slides. Floating down the lazy river in a rubber ring is always popular with the whole family.


Kids in search of more adventure will adore the adventure playground in Castillo Menorca - there are zip lines galore, a swimming pool and sandpits. There are trampolines to bounce on and even a pool. Seeing as it is located inside a shopping centre, adults can indulge in a little retail therapy while the kids have fun. Alternatively, try Botipark in Saint Luis, which has a huge amount of inflatables galore and an extensive soft play area for under-11s.


Children who would like to try horse riding will find Menorca a superb place to try a riding lesson or carriage ride. Menorquins are very fond of horses, especially the black horse that is indigenous to the island. The path that winds around the island's coastline is called Camide Cavalls, which translates to 'Way of the Horses'.
